  1. Why is he trying so hard to alienate female voters?
  2. Holy shit that was intense. I think 40% of the country can not be turned from Trump at this point, but I think for the rest of us it was a royal drubbing. While a life on TV has prepared Donald for spicy quips it has not helped him to consolidate a series of supporting details into a cogent rhetorical thesis. Probably more importantly to the public: he lost his cool. Interesting to me is the little moments I agree with him. For example, NAFTA, not the best choice for America's working people. On the topic of race I was bracing for him to shout "I'm MISTER black people." Instead he bizarre
  3. I love that we live in a country where a band called Drive-By Truckers has written a song firmly in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
  4. Back when the dis "that's a Cosby sweater" invoked well-placed nostalgia instead of trauma.
  5. The problem with W is he wouldn't have a beer with anyone because he is in recovery. This makes me ashamed to say it makes me want to have a beer with him more. Obama would be a great guy to have a beer and play a game of HORSE with on the white house basketball court (no that's not a euphemism but maybe it should be). I think having a glass of white wine with Hillary would be awesome. Trump seems like the kind of guy that would get his ass knocked off a bar stool in Helena as easily as Brooklyn. A real loud mouth prick who could ruin your beer.
  6. To keep thinks substantive, and policy focused, it's worth noting that a conservative think-tank found Trumps tax plan would put the government over a trillion into the red, and only effectively reduce the tax burden for the very rich. Fiscally conservative indeed. Harumph.
  7. It's kind of what I expected when I heard years ago that Jeff was doing a solo album. In fact I think over the years people on the board have dreamed of a solo acoustic record, which I imagine to be more like "Solitaire" and "Normal American Kids" than most of the stuff on Sukierae, which seems universally loved, but more as a one-man-band plus son affair as opposed to a stripped down songwriter plus guitar/harmonica situation.
  8. So this brings the conversation to what's unique about this election. I think SO many people are thinking about voting Trump who don't love him. In fact he's tested their resolve to vote Republican or bust.
  9. Okay. That sounds like a healthier view.
  10. Okay I love Spotlight Kid and Clear Spot, I like Ice Cream For Crow and kind of like Troutmask. Who knows the whole catalog? Where do I go next?
  11. http://www.npr.org/2016/09/16/494231607/the-trump-campaign-s-birther-statement-a-close-reading After declaring Obama to be a U.S. citizen Trump criticized Clinton for starting the issue in a move consistent with Trump's current "pants on fire" rating wherein Politifact has found his claims to be untruthful 70% of the time.
  12. That's fair. Acknowledging the fact that a vote can only incrementally affect the chances of one of two people becoming president and feeling good about it are two different things.
  13. You don't have to, but then you're not answering the question.
  14. The one thing that really stuck in my craw here is it seems his closing remarks imply that Jeff chose casual albums to save his family. Like he can't make a "grand statement" and be healthy. Tell me if I read it wrong.
  15. I keep saying she says half, not all. You can easily say to yourself "I'm not trying to ban Muslims. I don't think illegal immigrants are a bunch of rapists and murderers." No one is putting you in the basket. As for me I'll happily take on any statement of half. It's either true or it ain't!
  16. Nah, I'm a western yank but my wife and I are both Spanish speakers and we were knocking s. American countries off our bucketlist. Uruguay is really cool. We loved Montevideo and the coastal towns up north. Too bad they're playing a big fest in BA, it could be a fairly inconvenient excuse to go to another amazing city.
  17. Remember the death panels? Remember the crack heads with Obama phones?
  18. Interesting, many folks I talk to on the right feel the Trump movement is a total hijacking. We've never seen rhetoric like his from a candidate in my lifetime. I find Obama fairly moderate and Clinton slightly moreso. What in her policy strikes you as more radical left?
  19. Not butthole. I like music. I don't give half a dang what some other schmo in the audience thinks- they don't need to broadcast it. America has officially lost the ability to occasionally shut its damn trap and just BE somewhere for a couple hours.
  20. Doesn't this make them the other, non-basket half? Maybe they get upset because they've seen the videos of Trump supporters at rallys and don't want to get lumped in with the other nut bars they're voting with.
