  1. Sorry, didn't mean to sidetrack. I bristle at that word.
  2. Not to mention photographically pointless and therefore idiotic.
  3. But it makes you look like a jerk (which I'm assuming you're not) and totally distracts from your point (which I assume you don't want).
  4. Do people still say this shit?
  5. I've never been to one. Might be fun. Either way we'll all hear it in a week, no bitterness necessary.
  6. Concise, he calls it 'a grower'. http://stack.net.au/music/review-wilco-schmilco/
  7. The album ranking was weird too, I mean to each their own, but calling YHF overrated seems contrarian for its own sake. It's like people who dump on the Beatles, maybe a good way to liven up a sleepy bar of music fans but kind of pointless as journalism.
  8. Yeah, it's kind of a spam fest. Cheapens the brand. Remember when myspace transformed into a digital pile of litter? Is everyone looking for deals on diet pills and ray bans?
  9. So I was curious if someone caught the live debut of 'Someone to Lose' so I looked on youtube. I found a million links for live concert streams of the show and for tonughts in Idaho. Are these legit and under publicized or what?
  10. Yeah I saw its name in a search. It came up on some really sketchy looking download sites. I didn't investigate further.
  11. Dear Via Chicago, "It’s funny because if you play a show in Italy, somebody in Des Moines goes, “Yeah, the setlists are getting pretty stale.” Like, were you at the fucking show? No, there were like four thousand Italians going fucking crazy, asshole. [Laughs.]" Love Tweedy
  12. Nice. I know skipping the standard publicity steps made their last record refreshing for them, but I missed the standard Wilco interview. Nothing new here just the same humanism, motivation and creativity that makes Wilco inspire me to make stuff. As a side note to those who feared a happy frontman, not to worry, Tweedy still has some darkness.
  13. It's interesting that RS said blandness where other reviews described its uneasiness.
  14. I love it! Definitely has the freewheeling spirit of Star Wars.
  15. Yeah, and as someone who does shorter-run, DIY financed stuff I can say that all of the plants have been slammed for the past few years. The vinyl boom has made everything take forever. You used to be able to turn around 500 copies of a 12" in 3-4 months, now it's often 9-10 months. I imagine the thousands of copies the Wilcos latest would take precedent over some small short run, but with Taylor Swift making her vinyl at the same place as your neighborhood punk bands there's a lot of scheduling that can go wrong.
  16. That's well written. It's making me restless to hear the damn thing!
  17. The Star Wars songs sound even punchier than they did at the shows they streamed last summer! I also like that I know when I can leave the stream for a minute because the set list is already clear.
  18. He said they'll be playing the Schmilco shows using a lot of different equipment. I suspect the Schmilco performances will be in the recent "hootenanny" configuration.
  19. A lot of people who like similar music to my tastes love him. Hasn't grabbed me yet but there are several albums for me to hear still.
  20. I totally agree, but back to my original point, I don't think a holed up Wilco could light off "The Joke Explained" with a wry shrug, the same way a flown in overdub doesn't yield an "Art of Almost". Hopefully Tweedy will be ready to open up the committee now that these whimsical albums have been realized.
  21. Sure this stuff is subjective, but I think the data is showing both The Whole Love to be just as collaborative as SBS and that in the case of The National, Trouble Will Find Me is even better than High Violet. Think what you will, but I'm just running the numbers. But in all seriousness, I think what the process of Star Wars and ostensibly Schmilco has allowed for is a lighter touch, something this incarnation of the band has never been able to use. There are too many geniuses with too much focus doing too few drugs for things not to get worked over very thoroughly with everyone present. C
  22. I read it all on my phone without an id. Nice photos of cool Chi town spots.
  23. The new ones from the Pickathon feed seemed more like "The Joke Explained" than "Black Moon" but then again we were hearing a fraction of the material with a fraction of the instrumentation.
