Too bad about the heading, "Is this the best country can do for president?". I myself have wondered what country can do for president. It seems country votes for people that it doesn't actually like for nominee. Country should be more thoughtful in nomination process and maybe next time country will nominate Kasich, and O'Malley, or Sanders.

I'm glad people dig it. I'm sure when I get to know the album it will give it positive associations. Is it lame that I liked it more when I read about the artist being from Catalonia?

180g vinyl sounds the same as standard vinyl. That whole thing is an old hi fi myth. The thicker slab is just less likely to warp if mistreated but the same grooves. Color is tricky. Generally colored vinyl is not as good as black, but I can't recall why. It's a subtle difference and I've been told some plants press colored that sounds as good as black.

He's awesome. I loved the last one, haven't picked up the new one yet. Also, I too have struggled with his last name. It's Kiwanuka.

I remember Jeff saying that when they made agib they had material to make a garage/punk record, a noise rock record and a folk record but they ended up weaving an eclectic album. A while before the Whole Love they talked about doing a double album with rippers on one disc and a sad/beautiful second disc. Once again it didn't happen that way. I think the one-two punch of Star Wars and Schmilco is the boys finally getting to do something they've talked about for years.

They have no real ideas.

It also sounds much nicer than on that crappy DJ site. I'm wondering if the simplicity of their hootenanny-style performances at the end of their shows is influencing some of this material.

Yeah, they simplified that site a lot, maybe too much. It's probably temporary. While we're speculating, I have to wonder if they'll want to release this thing coinciding with their string of dates in August. That would make sense, except for typical album release seasons. For whatever reason 90% of album tend to come out in the spring or fall, with late summer being a kind of dead zone. Then again, given their current strategy of giving no quantity of shits they may not be concerned with the typical consumer marketing seasons.

I'm guessing this is a one-off outtake from Star Wars. Kind of like what 'Message From Mid-Bar' was to Whole Love, or 'Cars Can't Escape' to YHF. They seem to pretty regularly put an outtake out to tide us over. I'll happily accept a new album at any time though.

Their few published comments about it seem to suggest that it is exactly that.

Assuming that it's 100% finished (if not we'll really have to hold our horses) we have to assume that they have some reason for delaying its release. As much as I'm dying to crack open another new Wilco record, I'm thinking they're going to hold onto it until they complete these tours in order to give Star Wars its due. That might mean we're waiting until this winter. But then again, who knows?
