He's a pretty reasonable guy. I keep saying I love the alternate universe where the election is O'Malley vs. Kasich. That could be a levelheaded election year. Also I think being a governor has more in common with being president than being a senator. -

All good points. I was thinking if it came to pass it might mute some of her efficacy, as vps don't seem to truly do all that much. Nonetheless, symbolically she would help make a ticket that would take on corporate America at a historic level. -

Rumor is Elizabeth Warren is jumping on the Bernie ticket as vp. That'd be cool. -
As a citizen of Denver, and a Rockies fan, I'm totally cool with Fowler. As a Wilco fan, I can't really wrap my head around using them in a sports analogy.

After watching the gop debate the dems looked like phds at a cocktail party "I agree with everything you said, however I would add..." I kept thinking, something has to give when in the same week a bunch of elephants brag about how high their NRA scorecard is and a bunch of donkeys brag about how low their's is. Symbolic gridlock. -

Dem debate wasn't real fun either, but grossed me out a bit less. -

Trump did go into a really good "China" fit where he says the name of the country dozens of times and then rattles off business jargon that connects to real trade issues, but in ways where the average person loses his train of thought. It's kind of his Achilles heel really because it's the one thing that gets discussed where he actually knows enough that he gets hard to understand, as opposed to his more digestible "build a giant wall", "stop the Muslims from coming" statements. If he makes it as far as the nomination his Dem opponent should bring up China. He'll go off and the base will gl -

Wow. Gop debate is painful, I thought it would be fun. -
Man. So many breweries. Granted I'm in Colorado, where we're drowning in them, but you guys are talking about companies which I assume are a big deal and I've never even seen them.

Do you think we'll get to pick up a copy of the Jeff Tweedy memoir from the book store this year?

I love Lagunitas, New Belgium, and O'Dells and it would appear they're all getting bought up? My question is are they going to change facilities, management, or ingredients under corporate ownership?

This gets into deeper civics for sure. Our country has been defined by the balancing between state and federal rule. Obviously the Civil War sets up the fed as supreme but they've wisely allowed the states certain autonomy. The cannabis position is definitely an interesting conflict in some people's beliefs. Most hardcore, get-off-my-land guys have the same hypocrisy in their anti-federalist attitudes as they do in their extreme anti-tax positions, they aren't educated on the benefits they receive from the institution they oppose. If they had their way politically (and I'm talking extremists -

I think the lack of clarity was introduced by my use of hypotheticals for arguement's sake and was exacerbated by the vagueness of a conversation about severity and tactics. -

All I can say is if they truly expect martyrdom, life in jail is the perfect consequence. -

Depends on where you live. In a state with cleaner power, electric is far better. My state has so much coal power that it's a toss up, with an electric edging out a gas guzzler, but about tied with an efficient car. Old coal plants are nasty. -

Yeah, I'm actually kind of with you Hix, expanded wind and solar with a nuclear back bone would clean up the air real quick, and it would make those newfangled electric cars more effective. -

It closes a loop hole. I know plenty of gun owners who are cool with it. On some fresh issues: When I was in California I was reading the paper and found out that some biofuel power plants are at risk of shutting down because they're being out priced by solar energy. When I got home to Colorado there was a story on the radio about how owning an electric car in my state is not much better than a typical gas engine because most of our electricity comes from coal. It might not grab as many clicks as gun debates, or as emotional rhetoric form the average Joe, or Nancy, but the energy disc -

Thanks Kevin and Hixter for helping me mitigate some of my outrage with logic. I would like to reiterate, as you both have already noticed, you did it as a team. Cats and dogs shall now be married. Kevin, I also think you're right on about the blind rage removed from the facts being dangerous. It would seem anger is one of the easier ways to manipulate people. -

Interesting. See, I thought the lack of coverage for the first two days was weird. And I don't mean to be cheeky, but how exactly is this different? I mean clearly it has obvious differences from religious-extremist-terrorism, but the racial preference seems apparent to me. I can only put out hypotheticals to illustrate this, which can get pretty silly, but if you follow: Imagine disenfranchised, angry black guy holes up in a post office with a sidearm. You don't think law enforcement would take that person down immediately, as opposed to the kid gloves this self-described militia is bei -
Well we might not reach a consensus on the true intention of the second amendment, nor the proper role of firearms in our great nation, but we can all gawk at the fascinating theater of the absurd we call an election year. Also I brought this up in yesteryear's thread: Soooo... how about the armed militia that took over government property? Pretty weird huh?
-
Still worth it. I'm threatening to make the thread right now!
