I have a song at # 173 on Neil Young's LWWT
rockinrob replied to rockinrob's topic in Someone Else's Song
thanks!! -
I wrote this song a few weeks ago called 'The Ship Is Sinking', and I submited it to Neil Young's website on the songs of the times page, and I was trying to show one of my friends today, and it turns out that I am at # 173. First off, I am one of the biggest neil young fans you will find, so this is the most freaking awesome thing ever. i think if I found out that neil has listened to one of my tunes, my head would explode. Second thing, I think this forum he has made available for songwriters is amazing. It is an undescribable feeling to write a song and have it communicate you ideas

The 15 Most Outrageous Claims in Pop Music History
rockinrob replied to Boots's topic in Someone Else's Song
Im not really a skynyrd fan either, but this is a drug song. The guitar player crashed a brand new corvette into a tree cause he was loaded, and they had been around some junkies. the next line is "the smell of death's around you" So he is trying to say that death is clouding over the junkie. Like that bad vibe you get around some people. I always thought it was a cool way of saying it. I always thought that Ozzy should have worked more on the Black Sabbath song "fairies wear boots" If you cant make up a line, just scream "YEEEAAAA" for awhile! "I went to the doc to see what he wo -
This is the sound of a small tube amp being turned up all the way. like a tweed fender 5e3 deluxe, or a gibson les paul amp. there is nothing like it until you experience it. Your volume control controls how clean the signal is, so most of the time you keep it on like 4, so it sounds nice, but then you throw it to ten and.......BAAMM. It gives me goose bumps!

Thinking about building my own 000-style acoustic
rockinrob replied to beenthere's topic in Solid State Technology
The hard thing is making the guitar play well. I would go buy a cheapo acoustic, and put a new nut an saddle on it and refret it. This will give you a little practice on fretting a guitar. Also it would be a good idea to read some books on the subject. Alot of libraries have old books about building classical guitars written by the old spanish guys, you could get some good tips from those as well as some newers ones. Whatever you do, don't get excited and do it fast. These can be killer guitars iif you take your time. -
Its because of time limitations on vinyl. Basically, bass waves take up alot of space, so for a record to have strong bass, and get that wonderful warm sound, it needs to be less than twenty minutes per side. A little bit more is okay, but once you get to around twenty five minutes on a side, there is a huge difference in both the volume and bass response. For instance, I have Neil Young's Weld on vinyl, which is a two hour double vinyl record. It is about half as loud as any normal length LP I have, and extremely tinny sounding. I've also noticed that it makes all the dust and dirt sh

http://www.myspace.com/robsong I wrote this song and recorded it last week, the recording is a first take, and probably only the third time I played the song. It is about how I feel that our country is on the brink of disaster, but that we have the power to change our direction, before it is too late. So tell me what you think, hope you like it.

what is dBpm???

It is an L.R. Baggs M1 Active, and they are awesome. I love mine

The main difference is the sound dispertion abilities of the speakers. This means that in a 1x12, you have 12 inches of speaker pushing air. In a 2x12, you have 24 inches. The extra speaker area gives you more bass, and a general clarity that isnt in the 1x12. The other difference is that the 1x12 will have more speaker distortion than the 2x12, so you will have a generally cleaner sound overall with the 2x12. One is not better than the other though, they are just different.

Since we are on this topic, I found this super cool Zep site the other day. This guy points out all of the edits in the official live zep releases. It has some really good info http://www.simplyled.net/thegardentapes.html

Favorite Wilco Song to NOT make a Wilco album?
rockinrob replied to Wilco LP #7's topic in Just A Fan
The good part and not for the season. Maybe one day they will put out a record like tom wait's "orphans" -
If you look around the edges of that telecaster, it has binding on the top and the bottom. Knowing his thing for vintage guitars, it is most likely a 60's Telecaster Custom. I cant see the color too well, but if it is silverish, that was a fender custom color called Inca Silver. It also kind of looks like it could be a greenish-gold color, which is probably Lake Placid Blue. On old guitars with a nitro finish, the clear laquer that is on top of the paint turns yellow with age. When the paint underneath mixes with the now yellow laquer, it can make some interesting colors.

I'm just going to hope the "Black Eye sucks" guy was attempting to use reverse psychology... Or it was Glenn

Florida too please!! Florida is the worst for seeing good bands. If they dont have a stop in fla, the next closest city is atlanta, which is quite a trek for someone from tampa. But it doesnt suck as much as alaska or hawaii, or for the european fans, so I will quit whining now.

They get played somewhat regularly on wmnf 88.5 in tampa. I dont listen to the radio usually except for my alarm clock and Ive gotten woken up by wilco a few times. Also one time I was telling this friend of mine at work how freakin' awesome wilco was, and how you just dont hear bands like that on the radio. We happend to have the radio playing (88.5) and as soon as I said that, The late greats started playing.
