  1. he said someone in australia makes those shirts for them. I am assuming they have others because he said it like that
  2. So I just wanted to post my pictures! Check out the avatar!
  3. I will quote this old redneck guy that I know "Those things are like flying a damn helicopter!". The PS is a very hard insturment. the better you know theory, the easier it will be to play. the better you are on lap steel the easier it will be to play. I would suggest that you become very good on lap, and then graduate to PS. This is what my friend that plays steel with me sometimes did. He got to where I could be playing a song, and he could sit down on lap and sound great without me telling him the chords or anything. Then he got a nice PS, and he sounded horrible for about a month.
  4. So what has ryan been up to. he has been quiet for awhile (for him) now. Anyone know how the new record is coming along?
  5. You left while they were still playing!!!??
  6. well when I was talking to Pat outside the Florida Theater last week (see the other thread, it was sooo freakin' cool to meet the band!!!!) he said that he thought the band was just invited to the game, like someone had gotten them tickets. He didnt realize that they were invited to the game, i.e. Tweedy throwing the opening pitch and all.
  7. there were several tapers out there. I saw at least two mic towers. I taped it, but my gain was too high so everything came out distorted Be patient they will show up
  8. it is definitely worth picking up. they are a really cool band with a really different interesting sound.
  9. I had actually never heard political science before Wilco played it. I loved the song, and checked out randy newman, and now I love randy newman. I think that is what is cool about them playing great covers; it turns people on to cool music they might not have heard otherwise.
  10. Too soon man! We need to form a find Watt's gear group and scour the internet for it. Then we can get Nels to give it back to him and have a big jam!
  11. that sucks about the curfew, I wouldve loved to have heard the new ones and Passenger Side, but who am I to complain after that show?!!!!!!! The stand vs sit thing was tough. The seats are comfortable. It was a mellow show at the beginning, which at least for the people around me seemed to put everyone in a mellow chill out and be respectful kind of mode. I like how it ended up being about a half sit, half stand show. I hope they keep the horn section. They made Walken sound HUGE!!! Those guitar riffs were like a t rex chomping through the forest or something! On top of all of this awes
  12. the title basically sums it up. I got to meet and talk to everyone in the band. They all signed my vinyl copy of SBS!!!!!! It is now my most prized possesion. Wilco has been around my life constantly for the last few years since I discovered them in 04, and this is just so cool! It was really great to say thanks and to get to meet them. Some girls took my picture with Jeff, so hopefully they will email it to me! I have already bragged to all of my friends, so I just thought it was time to brag to you guys too! Like my good friend Kelly said "You know Rob, in 20 years, this will be like
  13. My favorite cover I have ever heard wilco do was "political Science" By Randy Newman. That was amazing!
  14. Leonard Cohen is absolutely amazing, but I cannot stand the sound of his music after the mid 70s. His lyrics and melodies are still killer, but to me it just sounds like a god awful 80s synth pop crap. I wish he would do a record with Rick Rubin so that Rubin would just make him play his nylon string acoustic and sing, instead of throwing all of that stuff on there that he does.
  15. This has happened several times before. He just buys another. But it is funny that the air traffic controllers have to tell all pilots to be on the lookout for a giant flying pig...
  16. As an artist, you will always feel that your best stuff is your newest because that is what you are going through at that time. The older stuff loses its luster to the originator, whereas for us maybe weve just gotten the older stuff recently, or we are at the same stage in our life as the artist was when he or she wrote that stuff. It is still relevant to the fan, whereas the artist has moved on. Looking back on their career, I have felt that the newest wilco record has always been the best, until they released the next one. Looking at them in order, sbs has a place. They were proving th
  17. You can buy those trems at allparts http://www.allparts.com/store/tailpieces-t...es,Category.asp . They are the same one that goes on the 61 reissue sg, but they do not have "gibson" and the lyre etched into them.
  18. Here is how it works. The faded series has a satin nitrocellulose finish, with 490R and 490T pickups. They are versatile good pickups. The faded series does not have binding on the neck, they have dot inlays (moons were only 2001-2003), rosewood fingerboards, mahogany neck and bodies, nashville abr bridge and stop tailpiece, regular gibson kluson style tuners, and a gibson decal rather than a pearl inlay. They come with a gig bag. The classic series has a gloss nitro finish, with single coil p-90 pickups. P90s are kind of in between humbuckers and fender style single coils. They have
  19. thats the spirit! maybe that is their plan to sell more tickets!
  20. my guess would be slim on that one. They wouldve just finished lollapalooza. Probably would like a break in there.
  21. If only jeff could leak us some stuff!!!!
  22. So in the email they just sent us, it said they would be recording. Is this for a new wilco record, or are they doing side projects and stuff? They haven't been playing any new tunes live lately have they?
  23. guess ive got a drive coming up!!! finally!!!! I was starting to thinkthat the yahoos we live with had scared my favorite band away. I hope the audience doesnt get into the whole stand/sit fight again. I was afraid that had made them not want to play here anymore. Definately made my day! (Edit: That they are playing here, not the fighting!) Also, for the south florida people, it is the closest you are going to get for awhile from what it looks like. Personally, I think orlando is the best place for bands in FLA to play, but then the panhandle people arent happy. I think they are playing j
