  1. Hes not doing anything he hasn't done before, tons of the old songs were "refurbished" and released later - "Don't Cry No Tears", "Powderfinger", "L.A.", "White Line", "Country Home", and "Too Far Gone", off the top of my head. Chrome dreams was a record from 1976 that did not get released, just like Homegrown. The songs were divied up onto the rest of his late 1970's stuff. I really hope Hitchhiker is one of the other songs on it
  2. For my .02, Chrome Dreams might be my favorite NY LP. I love the whole thing, and Sedan Delivery is awesome! It takes some repeated listens to get into, but it is. Powderfinger is downright scary as well. I can't wait for Ordinary People's ressurection. It has always been one of my favorites. Do yourself a favor and find a bootleg of Chrome Dreams 1 and OP, it will be well worth any effort towards finding them.
  3. I shouldve mentioned in my earlier post that I have a clark (boutique Fender Copy www.clarkamplification.com) Deluxe amp, and it has a laquered tweed finish. I play in bars several times a week, and I dont have an amp case or cover. It has some scuffing along the sides and the bottom, but the tweed has held up really well. There is no fraying, and the amp has supported many sweating pint glasses (and a few spills!!!) with no problem, the liquids brush right off. I think the process makes the road rash/bar tan that your amp will develop look cooler too, because every non-laquered one I hav
  4. You need to search for info on "laquering" the tweed. That is what fender did in the fifties, and their is a bunch of info available on that because so many people build those amps. I think there is some stuff on www.mojomusicalsupply.com about it.
  5. His guitar is one of the Gibson Custom, Art, Historic 1961 reissue sg's (they are really 1964 reissues, all of the ones before then had sideways vibrola's, but hey, who's counting?). You can get them in custom colors, which his is in pelham blue. They are rare, but I have seen others around. I've seen a couple phb, black, and natural, but the white ones are the most common.
  6. For the musicmaster, I believe that duncan has a reissue of those. They are one of antiquity models, just do a search for duncan antiquities, and look on the duncan website. For the Epi, usually those guitars have really crappy electronics, and I have heard great results from replacing all of the electronics. you can go to www.rsguitarworks.com or www.mojomusicalsupply.com they both have prewired kits for es 335 (same electronics) or they also sell high quality original parts. The pickups on the epi could be changed to many different kinds, but I have some antiquities in my les paul
  7. they came out a few years back, and are called the Handwired series. You can find info (the press release from when they debuted on www.harmony-central.com). They are similar to the custom classic vox amps, but have much higher quality components, and were handmade in britain instead of korea or wherever vox makes them.
  8. Alright, heres the deal. I am building a tremolo pedal I bought from buildyourownclone.com. It needs a cool name, and I am having trouble thinking of one, so I am going to leave this up to my buds at vc. The more dry, stupid, sarcastic, wilco-inspired, witty, or though-provoking (or any combination of the above), the better! If you can win the contest, I will buy you a beer if we are ever at a Wilco/(or some other band's) show!!! P.S. If any members of wilco (or family members of the band) name my pedal, you get as much beer as you want, and for Mr. Tweedy we are talkin' unlimited diet
  9. For the most part, I dont like Taylor guitars. I like that big fat Martin sound. But the absolute best sounding 12 string I have ever played was a Taylor 655 or an 855. The 6 has maple back and sides, and the 8 has rosewood. It was close to a heavenly experience. The sound is big and fat, but it has that wonderful jangly sparkle sound. They are truly awesome, and I have seen both of them used for 2 grand or less. I would say at least dont buy anything else until you have played one of those guitars. Why spend 1,000 or 1500 on a decent guitar, when you could get "freakin' awesome" for 2
  10. He is on the ocver of guitar world acoustic this month, and that has an awesome interview on sbs. It covers all the guitars he is using on the new record. The 12 string is a 1968 Martin D-20-12
  11. there is a big magic marker circle thing on the sleeve of the lp.
  12. Maybe instead of doing a solo tour, he should do a charity auctioned living room tour. He could say I want to play in these cities, and then there would be auctions for those cities, and the top thirty bidders would get to go to the show they bidded on!!!!!
  13. He seems alot more relaxed and chilled out than usual, I think it is obvious how much happier things are now.
  14. All I've got to say, To Jeff, John, Glenn, Mikael, Pat, and Nels Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Thanks for the tip, it worked like a charm!!!!!!!!!! (just joking, I love this record, I would never do such a thing.)
  16. I found three fake leaks. Why would someone do that? Seriously man, for us obsessive fans, seeing a leak causes a lot of excitement, so when I convert one and it is a led zeppelin concert, cmon! that is just mean!
  17. I have an enhanced lp copy, but I cant figure out how to get it in my computer, anybody else have this problem?
  18. Amen(just to the people that hopped on cause it was cool)!!!! This is a beautiful record. I love the sound of gifted musicians playing together in a room. When I crank my lp copy up to reality levels, and I sit on my bed in between the speakers, I am a part of Wilco for 50 minutes. And to the guy that said he should get back on drugs. FUCK YOU. Tweedy has said he is the happiest he has been in a long time. Leave the man alone. Be happy for him. Go create something yourself.
  19. I might have found a leak on torrentreactor.net, but when I threw it in my client, the title is wrong. It does have 13 tracks though, so I will see when it is done.
  20. I think I found the answer to this whole thing. "Maybe you still love me, Maybe you don't. Either you will or you won't." Chill out and enjoy the new record. If you don't dig it, don't listen to it. I think it is awesome, just like every other record they've done, and at the moment, It is my favorite Wilco record. I think it is beautiful to hear amazingly talented musicians, playing some simple tunes together in a room, live. There isnt enough of that these days.
  21. I have the promo cd too. A friend of mine that I supply bootlegs to at a record store gave it to me. One true vine is an extremely cool song, but its coolness is opposed to it's length (2:10). Theologians is cool too, but I wonder where or when it is from? I wish when they did promo things like these, they would put a bunch of stuff on them, like alternate takes or live versions of the new tunes. it seems like a waste of space to put 6 minutes of music on an 80 minute cd. It wouldn't use any more resources than putting 76 minutes on there. Enough of my rant though, it is 1000% better
  22. les pauls, like telecasters, are different from guitar to guitar. I have a les paul classic premium plus that weighs almost nine pounds. I have seen ones that weighed over ten pounds. IT sounded better than the other ones when I bought it. It has seymour duncan antiquity pickups in it, and I changed all of the controls to rs guitarworks parts. It has the huge jensen capacitors in it. Now This guitar sounds amazing. Everyone that hears it says it is the best sounding guitar they have ever heard, and wants to take it. It is extremely versatile, and can do everything from country, to folk
  23. It wasnt ever reissued on cd, along with 'Journey Through The Past'. These two records are the only ones not available on cd. It is very much worth tracking down. I have a cd version of it that I duped off of my record, but I do not know how to host it. It has always been one of my favorites, "don't be denied" is killer, as is "love in mind" "journey through the past" and "L.A." Ive seen it in used record stores and flea markets regularly. But finally if you would like it on cd.... Sign the petition!!!!!! http://thrasherswheat.org/tnfy/tfa-petition.php
  24. this is not a better worse than issue. All that ebay means is how much someone is willing to pay for something at that moment.
