  1. I live about half a mile from the yeungling factory in tampa! My favorite cheap beer is PBR (yeungling is more expensive). There is a little market across the street from my apartment that has 12 packs of PBR and it ends up coming up to $6.50 or so for the 12 pack. DELICIOUS!!!!! I think my 3 roomates and I are the only people that buy any from the market though. We are infamous for our love of PBR
  2. I really miss making mix tapes. It would be fun to do again, but I dont have a tape machine
  3. I would really really like them to play in florida again. There are some real fans here! I cant afford to fly or drive to see them in atlanta, which is about a 10 hour drive for me. Every time they have an announcement of more tour dates, my heart races a little as I wait for the page to load, but it just doesnt happen. They played tampa on Feb. 16 2005 and Jacksonville on March 10 2006 and I was able to make those. when they played Jacksonville they also played Langeradoo near miami, and in Tallahassee, but I could only make 1 trip.
  4. The bigsby you are looking for is a b-7. It will need two small holes in the top, and four around your strap pin. This will cause no problem on a 335. It will leave behind the two holes that your stopbar is currently mounted from. You can buy some pearl dots from stew-mac that will cover it, or on ebay there is a guy that sells a "custom made" cover that is cool. On the original 335's in the fifties, they would use the "custom made" thing most of the time. I absolutely love duncan antiquity humbuckers. But it depends on what you play. I am into strictly old stuff or new stuff that soun
  5. there is always florida too. It is a bit rough to go anywhere else when it takes 5 hours to get out of your own state! Unless of course if you fly, but that doesnt fit my part time job while in college budget at all.
  6. http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=31476 has some things about break up. Basically, it is the tube not being able to handle the voltage applied. This is why when you pick lighter or turn down the volume on your guitar, it will get cleaner because you lower the voltage going to the tubes. I just saw that you sai you dont have a budget. Clark makes the beaufort special for 8 or 9 hundred, and that is killer for the boutique amps, but for more affordable amps, I really like the fender pro juniors. They are cool amps. Gain all the way up is not how you would want to go.
  7. The sounds you are refering to are old sounds. They were not using high gain amps, or pickups, or any of our modern things that we use now. I only use an old sound, and I don't use pedals (except for an occasional fuzz box or a tremolo I built for amps without tremolo). There are several keys to getting this type of tone, and although the two of those guys have a drastically different tone, I think I have an idea of what you want to hear. As you probably know, Duane used "Plexi" marshalls. "Plexi" amps are (in a very, very, simplified way) copies of the tweed narrow panel bassman. Basica
  8. www.dimeadozen.org Legal live shows, lossless quality
  9. Download live shows at Dimeadozen! Free, legal, and cool cause they are never the same. .02
  10. I was wrong, it is the third night, and fair is being nice about the quality, but the show is freakin awesome. I hope to god I can somehow either win the lottery, somehow get free plane tickets somewhere, or some by some miracle he comes to florida so I can see him. To those of you with tickets, somehow, wow you are amazingly lucky just doesn't seem to cover it. "I wanna see what's never been seen, I wanna live that age old dream, come on now, let's go together, we'll take the best right now!"
  11. there is a torrent up on dimeadozen for the 2nd night of the tour!
  12. Someone earlier asked why the prices jump up like they do. It is a cycle. Right now we are in a down stage of the cycle, the prices have stabilized a bit, and it is relatively easy to find vintage instruments. Eventually (when the economy comes back) this will reverse, and there will be a price jump again. Prices were relatively stable from around 76 to 90, and we are in another one of those periods. Another thing that happens is something I call "sorta like" price raises. For instance es 330's. They are super cool guitars, but I remember in like 2000-2003 or so, you could get them
  13. I just hope he tours some next year too. He skipped big parts of the us, not to mention europe and other places, like his homeland! I'm definately jealous of you guys that are going, I just hope I get to see neil one day. The only way that could be better is if he played "Captain Kennedy"!
  14. If you do a search in google for neil young chrome dreams torrent it will come up on demonoid, and you can download the torrent there, drop it into azureas (or what ever you use). set to 350 degrees and it should be golden brown in around 15 minutes or less!
  15. I dont have any super cool ones, but I have a few noteworthy ones. I got around 5th row center theatre tickets for Brian wilson on the smile tour. I also got to meet him afterwards. It was very cool because I was walking down the hall towards his dressing room with the tour manager and brian was playing piano and singing gibberish but it sounded absolutely amazing. He stopped as soon as we came by and was a paranoid wreck. It was crazy to see and hear the contrast between him immeresed in the music, and out in the real world. I saw wilco when they played tampa in 2005. It was in a
  16. I know alot of other people have this problem too, thats not what I was saying. Im just saying it sucks and I dont have the money to fly out right now, and I felt like venting, now I feel better.
  17. Tube amps are the best because of the dynamics involved in the amp. It is literally an instrument unto itself that you must learn to play. I have a boutique copy of a 59 fender deluxe, and it has very little headroom. The trick is, you must use your guitars volume controls. I only play old music, or old sounding new music (wilco, Ryan adams, etc.). These guys also use old pickups. Many new pickups offer way too much output and tube amps can't take it. they also dont allow the volume control to work as well as it should. I have also found that factory volume and tone controls (pots)
  18. Im not usually much of a complainer, but it seems like everyone is skipping Florida on tour! Neil Young I have been a completely obsessed Neil Young fan since I was about 16. I have every album on vinyl, and all of my friends make fun of me because I end up talking about Neil Young in almost every conversation. I am even getting a "What Would Neil Young Do?" shirt for christmas from my roomate (he had it made). I was able to see him with CSNY last year, and that was great, but it wasn't a Neil Young show. Now for this new tour, tickets are like 150 bucks apiece and the closest he come
  19. The correct answer is john, with george close behind. Lennon had some absolutely classic tunes in his solo career, but george has put out the best records, from ATMP to Brainwashed, and you cant forget that he was in the travelling willburys. Handle with Care is awesome. But he had a lot more time than lennnon, so I think that makes it a bit unfair to lennon.
  20. It all depends on what kind of player you are. My saying is that if an electric guitar plays well and sounds gtreat unplugged, you have a good start on finding your tone. There are literally thousands of options for were you could take that guitar, and it all depends on what you are going to be doing with it. I personally do not like any of the modern conviences on my teles. I like vintage kluson tuners on them, 3 saddle brass bridges, vintage style pickups, paper foil and oil capacitors, so on and so forth. But there are so many cool things they have developed for teles. You should put
  21. It actually is not very hard to put a guitar together. There are a multitude of vendors (warmoth, musikraft, usa custom guitars, etc.) that will build bodies and necks to your specs. you can then either have them paint it, or send it to a refinishing place. Warmoth uses poly paint, but musikraft uses nitro. You get to pick the neck shape, the woods used, all of that stuff. Then you pick out the parts and electronics you want to use and screw/soulder it all together. You could then either take it in to a tech and have them do the final work ( shape the nut, setup, etc.) or if youve got t
  22. Wilco to britney spears Britney Spears played with Aerosmith at the superbowl. Aerosmith was in wayne's world 2. Mike meyers starred on SNL with chris farley. Chris Farley interviwed Paul McCartney on SNL. Paul McCartney played with george harrison in the beatles (duh) who was in the Travelling Wilburys. Tom Petty was in the Travelling Willburys and has played live a few times with Roger Mcguinn of the Byrds. Roger Mcguinn played 8 miles high with Wilco on some VH1 thing in the 90's! ZIING!!!!
  23. I dont play keyboards (wish I did), but there is not much sexier than an old tube b-3 or A-100 with a real leslie whirring away. I get to play regularly with a few guys with real hammond setups, and it is absolutely magical!!!!! I also want a mellotron badly, but they are like 6 grand. They sound so freaking cool though!
