I'd kinda like to subscribe to a certain upstate NY paper that a certain VC friend of ours has a hand in running.

I just couldn't resist putting Prine's name out there. I know he's well-respected. The guy is probably deserving of his own thread ( there's been a number of NY & Dylan threads here ).

If you've ever seen the footage from the Grateful Dead movie ( shot in Oct. '74 Winterland SF ) the shots of the crowd is at least as interesting as what is going on onstage. A real slice of freakdom.

Yeah. I saw Warren a few years back at Deer Creek: Gov't Mule opened with a 70 min. set, then 2 1/2 hours of the Allmans, THEN 2 1/2 hours of P+F...it was hovering around 90 degrees & we were all about to die...then ya got Warren up there for 6+ hrs. IN A LONG-SLEEVED BLACK SHIRT, and he didn't appear to even break a sweat!

Does the Drive-In count ? Although I'd seen all of them before, the local drive-in once had a Cheech & Chong Night (Up In Smoke, Next Movie & Nice Dreams back-to-back). You can imagine the insanity.

Indeed...Did anyone see the Charlie Rose interview back in May '04 ? Trey talked about wanting to spend more time with his family,etc.. So what does he do ? Gets the Trey Band right back out on the road. I hate to draw the comparison again,but it's a fact that one of the reasons JG did so many JGB shows was that the overhead for such ventures was much lower....more $$$ left over for drugs.

Although the music is a sideline to the whole story,"It Was 20 Years Ago Today" has to be one of the definitive docs of the whole sixties 'rock/drugs/politics' scene.Essential viewing,imo.

I've seen Fripp a number of times,and that guy can do impossible things with a guitar.Andy certainly ain't no slouch though.
