  1. Together again! Hey, is Jane's last album ( the Escape Artist or whatever) worth a listen?
  2. He wasn't in DSO for long, maybe even just filling in for a spell. Think it was 2010 or '11. Eaton also did a good amount of taping of GD shows, too, with some nice results that can be found on archives.
  3. No offense, as it is a really nice China->Rider, but I'm a nut for the "Feeling Groovy Jam" that they they started doing between the two songs in '73 and lasted about a year. Those are my favorite China/Rider transitions, by far. I caught that with the Dew tease, too.....and then...well, *splat* into El Paso. Rough.
  4. I did last night. It is solid. Even kind of dug Donna on i....
  5. He's played in the Melvin Seals JGB on/off since mid-2000s, played lead/sang in DSO for a spell, and does his own projects (Stu Allen and Mars Hotel right now). He's been playing at Phil's Terrapin place a lot, too.
  6. Listened to the whole show last night as I got it in the mail yesterday a day earlier than expected. Not too impressed with some of the versions of tunes. Deal, Sugaree, cowboy tunes sound pretty tame.
  7. A manhole is too big for this thread.
  8. Ah. I think Stu was playing w/ JGB and his own thing or something when they tapped JK for Furthur. I guess JK was a logical pick, though. DSO: I like it for what it is.
  9. I like Stu a lot, but it could be argued that he's a "fake Jerr," too. I think Warren sounds great and love Herring, esp. in P&F. I guess I prefer to have a guitarist who plays the tunes more closely to their original sound. It'd be weird, to me, having someone with a "different" sound, say like The Edge's sound, doing these tunes....The tunes are meant to have a certain lead guitar sound, imo, and it's ok by me to have them played by someone who can approach that. Yeah, I'm thinking a whole album (Anthem?) or maybe Mickey sitting in for Red Rocks.... Kimock in Ratdog blows Mark Karan
  10. I really like the CRB. Crowes are coming 3 nights at a small theatre (same place Furthur played a one-off before the bigger arena for 3 nights up the road) next month. Not to take away from GD business....
  11. Ok, gotcha. I like Stu, as well, but think JK does an excellent job as Furthur's lead. I look forward to more P&Fs stuff, as well. Better than Furthur stuff, imo, anyway.
  12. Ah. Just got an email from Amazon saying they are refunding me $1.95 for the SSDD discs that just shipped due to finding a lower-priced seller. How cool is that?
  13. C'mon, man. Enough of the "fake Jerry" crap. They need a guitar player to play lead and take some vocals. So the keyboardist is a fake Brent? Or the drummer a fake Mickey? When Bobby sings Masterpiece he's a fake Dylan, I suppose. If you don't enjoy them or go to the shows, that's cool. But why would you actually be looking forward to the hiatus, then?
  14. Logger's Song is probably the "big" surprise. Or the return of the short shorts, maybe.
  15. I realize many of you don't care for Furthur (I take 'em with a grain of salt and enjoy them when they blow through town) but they are, apparently, taking a hiatus for all all of 2014 off (after the Mexico shows in Jan.). Catching them at Red Rocks this weekend (Thurs-Sun shows) and they've been posting on fb that there are "big surprises," planned for these shows....hmmm.....
  16. Take it easy, people. In the long run, they are Joe Generic's music, so they sell shitloads of music and sell out concerts.
  17. Garcia Live Vol III: LoM '74: http://clicks1.musictoday.com/cts/click?q=1%3b121694%3bh5Fw4ilcVGqP%2BIKb%2BZ2MiQ%3D%3D
  18. Hey, Meat Puppets are your way on 9.26.....
  19. Thans man and thanks Shug. My Sunshine DD cds/dvds will be at my house on Thurs. $34 for 3 cds and the dvd isn't bad at all.
  20. Can't see it because I'm at work but will check it out at some point. Pig was not very good on keys but could sing a tune with heart, that's for sure. Man, I unfortunately lost my dog Banjo over the weekend to a freak disc explosion or some shit and the first thing I heard when I got to work and turned on gdradio was an amazingly melodic and beautiful version of "He Was A Friend of My." I about cried. I don't know the date/venue as it was from one of Gans' Dead Hours but certainly '70/'71. The jam in the tune was phenomenal.
  21. Dude, bring your kids! They are chick magnets. Of course, this assumes you are divorced/a single parent. Sorry to queer up the thread. Not queer in a homosexual way, but in a Wizard of Oz way.
