A few that come to mind: "World Wide Suicide," Pearl Jam "Conservative Christian, Right-Wing Republican, Straight White American Male," Todd Snider "You Got Away With It," Todd Snider "Final Straw," REM "Right Right Now Now," Beastie Boys "The Revolution Starts Now," Steve Earle "Ashes of American Flags," Wilco

That show was right around the time they were recording American Beauty, so it makes sense to see a lot of the tunes that made the album. They actually did play a lot of the tunes off the album for most/ all of their tenure: "Box of Rain," "Friend of the Devil," "Sugar Magnolia" "Candyman," Brokedown Palace," and "Truckin'." "Ripple" got ample play early on and in the early 80s for the acoustic shows, as well as a re-visit in the early 90s. "Attics of My Life" got a re-visit around the same time (Hampton, etc. '89). "Til' The Morning Comes" and "Operator" are the only ones that didn't g

Bucknor has a nice punch-out call behind the plate, but that's about it. A few years ago MLB players voted him the shittiest umpire in the majors in an S.I. piece.

Janis Joplin had a knack for the R & R scream. "Combination of the Two" w/ Big Brother comes to mind.

Morrison had a lot. And Chris Robinson (as noted several times) can pull off some great screaches whenever he needs to.

I was just going to post this. Great way to open a great album, too.

Ortiz was injured while Manny was sent to L.A. and since then, he's seen less better pitches. He's also just recently starting to get back to standard form, though, and Bay, Lowell and Youkilis have all been hitting well around Ortiz. So, it's not a huge difference in pitches he's seeing that are hittable/not-hittable. ed. Purely an observational take, of course.

True. I'd be willing to bet that teams that do well gel in the clubhouse better than teams that do not gel well. It isn't just the clubhouse but spending 8 months a year with the same guys, too. Not to drag this up again, but plenty of professional athletes (not just baseball players) have cited clubhouse chemistry as a factor that matters in success. I disagree. I think the gist of what has come out in the press is that he was negatively impacting the team towards the end of his time in BOS. Not for nothing, but they've had a pretty decent record witout him. Manny is an amazing hitter b

That's cool. People carping about Schilling calling in make it seem like he did so out of the blue and the talk was on something other than Manny to start with. I find it interesting what Schilling says about Manny's clubhouse presence (and here's B2s opportunity to discredit the impact of clubhouse presence) affecting the team negatively. It's what was suspected by most fans and Schilling, though certainly not revealing any particulars, sheds a little light on that. So what? I guess the main gripe out there is "what's the point?" Well, maybe there is no point but it's still a bit interestin

Some folks think it's inane for Schilling to feel the need to call in, unasked, just to spew about Manny's hindrance while with BOS. I, personally, find it amusing but I know plenty of folks who think it's just Schilling seeking some attention. Schilling talks to much, perhaps, but you'll get his honest take on whatever it is.

That Cubs game was something else.

Name an album you think is better than Bryan Adams' Reckless

I think Little Feat's Sailin' Shoes is better. -
It seems like fan idiocy in the form of what that guy did, running onto the field, etc. is waaaay down since they stopped airing the bone heads on t.v. This is, of course, good. Lesson for the general media? I doubt it.

I feel for Willie Randolph. The guy gets pegged as part of the problem when the same issues have arisen this year: bullpen. They are sketchy and overworked. What's changed (much) since last season? Offense is still solid, relief pitching is trouble. Maybe Minaya was the one that needed to go...?

I used to go to NYY games at Shea in the mid-70s during that renovation period. It's always sentimental seeing an old park being tossed to the wayside of newer parks. Yankee Stadium obviously does have a lot of history but it's still pretty dump-y and it's time.

I don't think so.
