  1. Ha! I figured you'd have already known this, anyway. The man has an ear for good music....
  2. Big Deadhead, too! Cool article: http://www.glidemagazine.com/131485/easy-answers-lee-ranaldo-sonic-youth/
  3. Caught John Prine/Avett Bros at Red Rocks last night. Both sounded great. Hadn't seen Prine since Telluride Blugrass Fest in 2000 or so and he's still got "it." The AB's sounded as good as I've heard them before and, although they haven't really "raged" on tunes like in their earlier days, they still can rock a crowd/tune. While Prine was doing his set I turned to a couple chicks near me and mentioned that it was a little strange seeing a legend like John Prine (and Bod Weir/Ratdog the previous year) opening for The Avett Brothers. About 2-3 tunes into The Avett's set the mentioned something
  4. Went for a month after high school graduation (girlfriend was from there). Beaches were great, people very friendly, great food and wine. I got ripped off on a ball of hash but there was a lot of it around, too (gf told me not to buy it off the street as they set Americans up for busts and get the money and hash back from the police, but I did anyway. Hello 18!). Lots of cool old buildings. Went up to Fatima for a day, too. I'd go back.
  5. Steal Your Face was great for cleaning weed of seeds on....
  6. You likely know already, but all the set break tunes were composed by Neal Casal specifically for the shows. I liked it quite a bit.
  7. From friends who went and were on the floor, it took about an hour to use a restroom, grab a beverage, and head back. I also think, these being the "last" shows, people there didn't mind much as they were re-connecting with folks. The set breaks were closer to an hour and a half, too, I believe.
  8. Chimenti has been using Brent's B-3 for awhile now, actually, with The Dead, Furthur, and Ratdog....
  9. I watched all three shows (1,5 in a bar with great sound, 1.5 at home on back porch). Trey was kept on a bit of a leash by Weir, imo, particularly on tunes like Jack Straw on Friday night. Trey did an amazing job all-around. The last two night, particularly last night, the tempos on almost every tune were too slow for my liking. Love Mickey's set-up. The Drums-> Space last night was pretty much the highlight for me of the last show. Friday night's show was excellent and the last two so-so with moments of great playing but not enough for them to stand out to these ears. Happy for
  10. Toss up between taking the as-yet started So Many Roads book by David Browne or finishing Sam Cutler's book on trip to Dominican Republic tonight. So Many Roads is heavier (physically) and hardback vs. the soft-covered Cutler read. Wonder if I can catch streams of Levi Stadium this weekend, too, down there....
  11. Pre-ordered the re-release of Sticky Fingers off Amazon a month ago and got it a few days ago. Probably listened to the bonus stuff 5-6 times already.

  14. Gave this a whirl last night. It is a very cool take on TLEO....

  16. Apparently Warren was hammered and was actually boo-ed off stage at this show....
  17. I thought he was the new Avett Brother....

  19. Sweet! haven't heard it yet. I'm always up for a "Rosalee," too. Missed on on Vol. 1. I guess they are limited and sell pretty quickly. Pretty funny Conan take on the new 30-show box set (cue up at 3:20): http://www.relix.com/blogs/detail/watch_conan_cracks_on_the_grateful_dead_box_set_in_monologue
  20. It likely is. It's one of (if not THE) earliest Betty boards that heads got their hands on, which is (imo) a big reason that show is often noted as "the best" show. That show climbed to fame quickly because most of us had never heard that kind of quality. It IS a great show, but there were a lot of great shows that spring/year....
  21. Yeah, that'd be a cooler deal if they did sell individual shows.... Speaking of Betty 'boards, got my CRB Betty's Blends Vol. 2 in mail yesterday
  22. Nice. Those Cape Cod shows have been favorites for a long while. I only caught the 10.1. 94 BOS and the '88 Oxford from the list....
  23. I'd argue that the Warlocks shows, (in particular 10.9.89), trumped just about anything from '89. The shows with Clarence Clemons were awesome, too, as was the NYE show. The JFK show is an excellent show, but I think the fact it's on top-notch video helps, too....
  24. His voice and playing were excellent from 87-90, imo. He was actually moving a lot on stage, smiling, and seemed content and genuinely happy, as well.
  25. Ha. This was leaked on this site yesterday (see the previous page) by Mr. Heartbreak....
