love it...not what i was expecting at all. now we just need tunes!

I wonder if another opener will be announced in the coming weeks. Wishful thinking would be Liam Finn since he recently worked on the 7 Worlds Collide album...but an additional opener would just be a bonus at this point. It's already such a great bill...

If history is any indicator, don't they usually stream their new album roughly a month before release date? If that's the case, then hopefully, we only have another couple weeks of the waiting. The slow, agonizing waiting....

i feel like the last time i saw them play box full of letters was on their 1st tour behind A.M. that was a LONG time ago...

do you think we'll ever get live streaming video at one of these things? too expensive, i guess. plus, would it just be one camera on lockdown the whole time? i mean, i'd be fine with that, but still...just curious.

FYI NYC folks: Ashes Screening at IFC Monday
pathfire replied to trayanastasio's topic in Just A Fan
Also, in the closing credits, the songlist went by pretty quickly, but I thought I saw a song called "The Kiss." Anyone else notice this or know what this is referring to? I recognized all of the other titles except this one, and who knows, maybe I was seeing something that wasn't there. -

Ashes of American Flags had its New York premiere tonight at the IFC Center in the West Village. It was a sold-out screening and was being billed as "Movie Night with Fred Armisen". Fred came out and introduced the film and the directors, talked for a bit, and said one of his favorite moments was watching Nels during A Shot in the Arm, describing him as an unsung musical hero. As others have stated here, the film looks and sounds INCREDIBLE. Songs are given a chance to breathe and play in their entirety at various theaters and clubs throughout the US. They really cranked the volume up in -
bbop, you do indeed rule. i've been checking the screening schedule often for a NYC screening. thanks for the news tip! i couldn't believe i got tickets with it only one week away...

Just curious if anyone made it to the premiere of Ashes of American Flags in Montana a few days ago? Here's hoping for a NYC screening sometime before the DVD release. One of my favorite memories is catching the limited release of I am Trying to Break Your Heart at Cinema Village in NYC before I moved up here. It was only my second visit to New York and I had no idea where anything was or how to navigate the subway system. I got really lost, ran several blocks, barely made it to the theater in time, and was told there was literally one seat left. I sat down as the opening credits rolle

wow...one of the best set lists i've seen from them in a long time. i can only hope that the brooklyn show tonight is something close to this. can't wait!

Very curious as to which song they used and how it works within the scene....this trailer creeped me out the first time I saw it. http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117937297...yid=31&cs=1

Anyone go see Jon Brion and friends at the Harris Theater in Chicago last night? I heard at least two members of Wilco joined him (not sure who)....any reports?! I'm sure it was one of the better options around for bringing in the new year.

MattZ, great review of the show...I don't know if I just hyped the show up too much in my head or what, but I did walk away a bit disappointed myself. Agreed that the highlights were MMJ and the Roots (Tift Merritt was also a pleasant surprise--I thought she did a fantastic job with 'A Hard Rain's a Gonna Fall'). When everyone came out for the obligatory 'All Along the Watchtower' at the end, I couldn't help but think it would have been so much better if they just brought out MMJ to play it and end the show. They are the only ones who could have matched the intensity and electricity lingeri

The lineup for the I'm Not There concert at the Beacon Theater in NYC looks phenomenal, but the question is, will Jeff and Nels show up to perform? The show promises "Special Guests", Jeff does Simple Twist of Fate on the soundtrack, Nels is a member of the Million Dollar Bashers who are scheduled to perform, and Wilco is off on Nov. 7th, but they'd have to fly from Belgium to New York to Spain in the span of 3 days. Seems a bit much, but who knows... Lineup below: Calexico Cat Power The Roots My Morning Jacket J Mascis Yo La Tengo with Buckwheat Zydeco Mason Jennings Glenn Hansard and M

Just read that Glenn Kotche will be opening for Andrew Bird at the Beacon Theater on Friday, Nov. 30th. An already great show just became even more awesome. Really looking forward to this one...

Golden Smog posted two new songs on their Myspace, Look at You Now and Scotch on Ice. I like Look at You Now a lot upon first listen...super catchy. Can't wait to hear the Dinosaur Jr. cover on this EP....what do you guys think?

does impossible germany remind anyone of tom petty's "grew up fast" on the "she's the one" soundtrack? random, i know....but there's something about the chorus that they seem to share...
