  1. I think it's pretty damn bold to not rest on the noise that they've rested on for the last...9 years? That's pretty damn bold, in my opinion. With Nels, they could have kept the whole noise thing going, but they decided to go 100% the opposite way, it's that drastic. It doesn't sound bold, but the transformation of the band is pretty bold in and of itself. Granted, clean Tweedy might have a lot to do with it...
  2. You Are My Face is good, Patient With Me has some excellent ly-ric.
  3. Where is Park West? That would answer your question. Sounds like a great show, though.
  4. Pot Kettle Black? Has that EVER been played solo? And don't look it up on Wilcobase, I refuse to believe it.
  5. I think it's pretty God-like.
  6. Oh, right. Must have forgotten to consult the Man Manual. Which is a can of beer.
  7. gershon actually reviews the record?
  8. This is MUCH more AGIB and YHF than most people think. It's just 99% less noise and 99% more structurally-based (e.g. fooling with rhythms, melodies, etc.) rather than basing it more on the texture (e.g. noise, which is the whole YHF-AGIB era). I hear A LOT of YHF in this record - just no noise to accent it.
  9. I guess, but I always thought he had lightning-proof gloves. Did he lose his pair?
  10. I think it's pretty safe to assume he hates everything?
  11. Did it ever occur to you that he was... joking?
  12. Sprinkled throughout, mostly fills, and in the break of You Are My Face (very evident in there). Just how I like it (thanks to Bob Dylan's electric years). You really have to listen for it. Having seen Pat do organ live, I was practically searching for it. And I found Paradise.
  13. No, Tweedy wasn't quite a half-step off. It wasn't a whole half-step flat, just always slightly flat. Hence, quarter-tone. Quarter-tone is a legitimate musical term, if that's your question. It's half of a half step (obviously).
  14. It ain't indie enough for them. The Grammies CAN'T possibly put this as an alternative rock album...can they? I love this album. Possibly my favorite. It's like...liquid sex. Whatever that means. It's up there. I like it better than AGIB at this rate, and this might want to have a chat with YHF. I am digging how Tweedy was almost always a quarter-tone flat on Shake It Off. Intonation be damned! And the pump organ slays me EVERY TIME. The whole record feels "shot from the hip." If that makes sense.
  15. Could I perchance obtain a sort of PM containing the pertinent files in question?
  16. Probably done. I get the feeling that Jeff is always a LITTLE flat ending his phrases in Shake It Off. But hell, I like it.
  17. It works well. No one ever asks, because if they try to open their mouths and ask that question (I'm obviously psychic), I shoot them down with a lightning bolt. That policy has been holding well for quite a while.
