  1. Cavs, Magic, Hawks, Heat Lakers, Mavs, Suns, Jazz I think OKC still has a damn good shot of upsetting the Lakers, but it's not looking pretty today.
  2. A couple years ago, the answer probably would have been 90-95%. Somehow Wilco, etc. was the only set of artists I was ever really into. And then came me finding the Beatles, Bob Dylan, the Velvet Underground, and etc. etc. and that number has probably dropped to, like, 10-20% if that. I love Wilco and I put it on, but just not a whole lot anymore. Part of it may be that I've listened to Wilco so much that I don't actually need to hear the record anymore (I can just go through it in my head and enjoy it). Most of it's probably me going crazy discovering all this stuff I'd missed, though.
  3. The place I went to had nothing on the list I had written down to get for RSD, at least none that I could find. I settled for an original pressing of the Velvet Underground's VU (it says "Promo copy" on the back, ) and since it might be my favorite VU record (no lie), I'm cool with my purchase today.
  4. It's not bad. I did not expect a damn thing coming in and am coming away pretty pleased.
  5. I kinda think it's just as good if not better, actually. I love how "Drunk Girls" rips off of the Velvet's "White Light/White Heat," "All I Want" totally takes Bowie's "Heroes," and "Somebody's Calling Me" homages Iggy's "Nightclubbing." That's like, three of my favorite dudes ever, and each is a perfect tribute, because doubtlessly James Murphy listened to all those records way too much as a kid or something. My only minor complaint is that "Pow Pow" cooks a little too slowly (but most LCD Soundsystem tracks cook slowly, just this one a little too slow), but really, this is a fantastic re
  6. I am subtly hinting that you may not have to look for this one tonight if you check something in a couple of hours, if you catch my drift...
  7. BT W(tA) AGIB YHF SBS ST AM YHF, SBS, and ST are all pretty clumped together though. It's become harder and harder to listen to anything other than W(tA) recently though. Not sure why.
  8. It leaked yesterday, put up to stream today. I love this record, holy balls.
  9. I didn't think UNC had much of a chance. Too outmatched. Also, if the Big Dance expands to 96 as they are "looking into," there will be a riot. I would stop watching the Big Dance (maybe), because it really doesn't achieve anything. I hope the Prez steps in and says no. Or something like that.
  10. I think he's trying to say that Morgan Freeman could fake a reaction to getting spit on better than Emmanuel Cleaver could react when actually spit on.
  11. He's a good player, though, and he definitely fits (still working on consistently fitting, though). When Arenas went out for the Wiz and it was just Jamison, he always went ballistic (20+ppg, 7+ rpg) or something really good. He doesn't get to do that as often now on the Cavs, but better to win than to have good stats, right? Sometimes I think Amare would not have worked out so well. Or maybe I'm trying to justify picking up Jamison over Stoudemire.
  12. I think it runs both ways, though. The right are getting all riled up and propagating fear about a bill that really is much less than what it's purported to be, and all their riling up is causing the left to get wayyyyyy too riled up given some "fear" of the right who are supposedly wayyyyy too riled up about the bill. It's getting distorted on both sides of the spectrum, not just one side. Buchanan mildly addresses it at the beginning, but I hardly consider it enough. But, for his entry to make any sense he as to downplay one side to make his point, so I see why it was done. Not that I p
  13. Is this referring to my comment? I use arms in the broader sense of the term, so everything you just mentioned above is included.
  14. Sure, I agree, but I think there's something inherently more psychotic (and therefore frightening) about one side implicitly advocating the use of arms over an issue rather than, say, mailing your representative or calling them. You know, doing something not crazy or violent.
  15. If you get to the very end of the video, it says that it was recorded at the Olympia in Montreal. So, before/around soundcheck for this show. But that was a great video. I think I know what record I'm putting on tonight...
  16. Rest in peace, Alex Chilton. I don't know what else to say. I'm devastated like everyone else is. Alex Chilton was the fucking man. He made some of the best fucking songs and records to grace rock and roll. Trying to say much more would probably be lavishing praise on someone who didn't look for it...so I won't.
  17. I would probably say the Stooges were proto-punk and leave it at that. They were too far ahead of their time to be easily shoehorned into a genre. Sorta like the Velvet Underground in that way.
  18. Yeah, they did a tour thing together and I saw them in Columbus. I'm not sure if it'll be a similar format, but Nels did a long 40-minute session by himself, then Glenn did his set, and then they did a set together. It was totally rad, I might add. It'll be a pleasure to see/hear, you don't have to worry about that.
