Food prices going up...package sizes going down..
austrya replied to remphish1's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
You know, it is expensive to eat healthy, but healthy foods usually keep you from being so hungry all the time, so you actually eat less than if you ate a diet of refined carbs all day. Plus, it's expensive now, but think about how expensive it is to be obese, have type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer, etc... -
Medical/mental conditions aside, how can this not be true?

I don't necessarily think that intelligent people have intelligent kids. I think anyone can be intelligent if they put their mind to it. It's all about how much determination a person has. If I have determination, work hard, get a good education, and land a good job, chances are, I'm going to raise my kids with the same ethics. If I'm a slacker, quit school because it's too hard, and go from job to job my whole life, chances are, my kids are going to think that's the way to do it.

That really ticks me off when I have my DVR set to record from 7:59 to 8:31 and the stupid show will go until a few minutes after that. -

Ok, I love Tori Amos. I do not even come close to liking Kate Bush. She reminds me too much of Ani DiFranco. Blah. -
We had a teacher that used a paddle in elementary school. In high school, we had a teacher that would make you "bite the bar" if you said a cuss word in his class. He kept a bar of soap in his desk drawer for that purpose. Other than that, we just had detention, which really didn't deter anyone from doing anything bad. Detention was usually pretty fun, depending on what teacher was in charge.

I used to walk about 3 blocks to school when I was in 5. I had other kids to walk with, but I still had to walk. When we were 6, we moved from Detroit, to a small town (Clinton, MI) and I had to walk about 1/2 mile to school. I had 2 other kids that I walked with. We live about 3/4 of a mile from the school now (in the same town) and my son refuses to walk or ride his bike because he doesn't have anyone to go with. Next year his brother will be in 1st grade and will be going to school all day so I told them that as long as the weather is nice, they're walking.

People really drink that? -
There is a boy in my son's grade (4th) who lives directly across the street from the school. It's a side street, not a major road. His mom walks him to school in the morning and then walks over there to pick him up after school. The kid is almost 11 years old and can't walk 100 yards to school by himself.

Heck, trying to get kids to do chores is like pulling teeth.

I was hoping something would happen with Angela staying behind at the office with Dwight. I'm still curious to see what will happen this week.

Apples, oranges, carrots, etc haven't gotten smaller over the years. Maybe we all just need to eat stuff that doesn't come in packages. -

Mansfield Park was on IFC the other day. I was glad to see it since I recently read the book. The book was way better.

But they can be happy, there's always Angela and Andy to balance that out.

I just wish I could have kids that would listen to me every once in while and not argue.

It was $60 to fill up my 4x4 SUV. -
You probably wont let your kids say the Pledge of Allegiance either. Way to make them get beat up at school...

Well, next time I have a dropped call, I'm going to drop someone on the side of their head. I'll just look around for the person who is trying to look inconspicuous...

If someone were to jam my cell phone, I'd jam them upside the head.

It's so sad that alcohol can have a hold like that on some people. My prayers are definitely for your family.
