I tried to buy school supplies at The Store That Shall Not Be Named last week and they didn't even have glue sticks. No glue sticks in the whole freaking store. Oh, and they didn't have any two pocket folders either. I'm going to Target tomorrow to get them.

The real question here is if you were in a burning building and could only save one Wilco album, what would it be? I'd have to go with Being There or Summerteeth.

If trees are so important, what do you do if you're weeding your garden and find some maple trees that have sprouted? Don't you pull them up and just throw them on the compost pile with the rest of the weeds?

I'm pissed that butter has fat in it. I just made some homemade butter and put honey in it and I'm pissed that I can't just sit there and eat it with a spoon.

Plus, Ikol has a way of putting things that makes me laugh. He's smart AND funny.

Adoption is a wonderful option when it comes to an unwanted pregnancy. It's just a shame that there is so much red tape involved in the adoption process. I think a lot more people would adopt domestically if it were as easy as adopting from a foreign country. Although, those kids deserve better too. That's one way to foot the bill. One way to reduce the number of abortions is to somehow get it through these girls heads that a boy isn't going to necessarily like you any better just because you put out. I really hope that I can teach my boys to respect girls and teach my girls to respect

My first post on this thread was quoting your religious extremist remark. Like I said. I'm quite happy being catholic. For me, yes, it is the best religion in the whole wide world. I wish everyone was catholic but I know it's not that way, and really, I'm ok with it. I just don't like people bashing it when they don't know WHY the church feels the way they do about certain issues.

He didn't directly, he just hit on two of the major issues that people have with the catholic church. I was defending those issues in particular, the contraceptive issue and the confusing religious teachings. I was using catholicism as an example because I don't know of any other denomination that prohibits the use of contraceptives....

That pretty much sums up how most outsiders view the catholic church... That's what I was trying to defend.

I'm not saying that my religion is better than anyone else's. I'm just trying to defend it when we're being called religious extremists. I'm quite happy being Catholic but that doesn't mean that it's the best choice for everyone. It's just the best choice for me.

That's the point. Why should the church change their views on something just because "everyone" thinks it's ok to do something that the church doesn't agree with. If you had a rule in your house and your kids decided not to follow it, would you then change your views on the subject to appease them? Would that be acceptable?

We had a swarm of honey bees attach themselves to our patio chair yesterday. I called the people we get our honey from at the farmer's market and they came and trapped the bees.

Since when are Catholics religious extremists? Fwiw, when you get married in a Catholic church you usually get some pretty awesome relationship education and if you pay attention, the things they teach you aren't so confusing if you open your mind a little and pay attention. It's not a bad thing.

Yikes. Glad you guys are ok. I'm not in Chicago but woke up this morning to lightning striking something across the street from my house. It was really really really loud. I don't know if it struck the cell phone tower down the street or if it just hit the ground. I didn't see any damage anywhere.

I'm happy I have my kids and Jay. What is it with kids and coins? If Jacob sees a coin laying somewhere he runs to it and immediately puts it in his mouth. He hasn't swallowed one...yet.

The thing that bothers me about beef is that the "factory" farms are feeding them corn and beef fat which thier bodies are not made to eat. This causes them to get sick so instead of feading them the right way, they just pump them full of antibiotics and it's supposed to be ok. It takes an angus steer 5-6 years to get to the butchering size when they are fed a natural diet of grass and hay but it takes a factory farm 18 months to get the steer to that size. This just makes the animal miserable, makes the meat have higher cholesterol and fat, and makes us fat.

I was thinking about that too. It should be required reading. It's funny how there is such a health crisis with obesity, type II diabetes, and heart disease and it can all be directly related to the government's policies on CORN, yet they do nothing about it.
