  1. Maybe people should learn to save their money for emergencies instead of piddling it away on everthing they can get their hands on...That's why a large part of the population can't afford medical deductables.
  2. We say some things wrong on purpose because our kids or someone else pronounced it wrong and we thought it was funny. Growing up, we called water "wagen" and cookies "dutens" because that's how my sister pronounced them. She's deaf in one ear and had speech problems. We call the remote control the "motma cotrol" because that's what my nephew called it when he was little.
  3. I've been told that I pronounce straight wrong. I say it with a long i instead of a long a. No one told me that I pronounced wrong until I was 25 or so and my mom told me.
  4. Why do we always have to blame someone? There are a dozen different people/agencies that could be blamed for how things turned out. You could blame the arsonists, you could blame the firefighters, the politicians, the president, the environmentalists, etc. The thing is, it happened and there were 100 mph winds and super low humidity and I think the people did the best they could considering the circumstances.
  5. I love the commercials for monster trucks. (no, not really) "SATURDAY, SATURDAY, SATURDAY"
  6. Well, if it's Islamic gays, we don't have to worry about them being from Iran since they don't have gays there.
  7. I saw that this morning when I was flipping through the stations. How dumb.
  8. No, but Jay's mom shops at Kohl and Targets. We always tease her about those.
  9. Change someone's greeting banner on their cellphone to read "NO SERVICE"
  10. I've heard a couple of different people use this... They say "remember me" instead of "remind me." For instance "Remember me that we need to go to the store."
  11. Yeah, you know, they're going to smoke anyways so I just buy them the low nicotine/low tar cigarettes to "protect" them.
  12. "It's suppose to rain today" instead of "It's supposed to rain today" or "I use to live there" insted of "I used to live there"
  13. Our kids are allowed to play whatever sports they want to. The only thing we do is that if they start a sport, or any activity, they have to stick it out for the season if they don't like it. If they make a commitment to something, they need to keep that commitment.
  14. Our soccer kids don't keep score until they are 8 years old. My boys like soccer, they just like baseball and football better. My 5 year old plays flag and they don't keep score. The oldest plays tackle and they keep score but don't have a first place, second place, etc. Everyone gets the same generic medal at the end of the season. It's kind of a bummer that kids don't get trophies anymore.
  15. Handing out the pill to girls who's bodies aren't ready for the hormones that the pill provide could be dangerous. Is the pill even approved by the FDA for girls under age 18? Plus, who is going to tell the gir'ls doctors that they are on the pill, surely not the parents because they probably don't even know. If the girl is too afraid to talk to her parents about sex in the first place, sure as hell she's going to hide the fact that she's on the pill from her doctor and from her parents. So the next time the girl is on antibiotic, is she going to be aware that the pill won't be effectiv
  16. Allowing middle school girls to get birth control pills without their parent's consent is another thing I'm worried about. I forsee infertility problems for these girls one day and also horrible, horrible periods when they stop taking the pill after however many years. Plus, what 11-13 year old girl is going to remember to take the pill every day, at the same time? Instead of handing out the pill, they should find out why these girls are having sex in the first place. I can pretty much guarantee at that age, it's not because it feels good. It's more about getting a boy to like them. Th
  17. Where we live it's t-ball through machine pitch, so until they are going into 3rd or 4th grade. That's a long time not to teach them what outs mean, ya know. Plus, it doesn't give the kids any incentive to try harder.
  18. I loved this book. They made it into a movie, but I'm afraid to see it. I have the perfect view in my mind and I don't want it ruined. I love this book, too!!
  19. This does piss me off, not the Canadian bacon thing but the kid thing. I hate going to a little league game where they don't keep score and everyone gets to bat.
  20. Instead of Looney Tunes, we have crap like Ed, Edd, and Eddy. It really is a bummer. On a positive note, we do have Yo Gabba Gabba...
  21. Where do you guys live that you have religious people going door to door? We haven't had that in years. Now, we just have people trying to shove Kirby Vacuums and encyclopedias down our throats.
  22. Eh, it's not so bad. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I actually have 4 kids. Oh and for the record, we're more socially responsible than most families with one or two kids. I've already been told anyone who has more than one kid is socially irresponsible - by someone who drives an SUV
  23. Hahaha, I'm not sure I'm ready to stop having kids yet
