  1. the self titled is great. i have known about him since the royal tenebaums, lullabye was in the film. i have been told that he released this just a few weeks before mccartneys first one, and that really hurt him. i guess people always refering to him as a mccartney lookalike kept him from moving out of his mothers basement! even that it does sound alot like the maccaman.... see you.
  2. this new album is amazing. i picked up a promo copy... i cant wait for you guys to hear it. wowy wow.
  3. i picked up his new one (that isnt out yet) as a promo copy last week. wow. what a deal. neat new album coming out pretty soon. i highly recomend it. kotches on it too. damsel is also great. pretty much everything he touches is gold. goodday. me.
  4. maybe he downloaded the records. he got out of it on semantics!
  5. dont refinish it. that will lower the price alot, better to do nothing at all. look at nelsy's. it used to be black.... one day ill try this project...
  6. this is great news. hopefully this will give the avant garde fans more to swallow, seeing that they cut back on sbs. im a fan of both, but honestly, think, they are so good at being experimental and they have to popular mainstays of it in the band at the moment (nels and glenn), why not? oh by the way, a funny thing i would like to pass on... i saw them last in e. lansing with my band mate, eric. i saw pat walking in close proximity to us and told eric to look behind him. eric said hi to pat and he walked over. we all said hi. then eric says this. "i really like your windmills." pat smil
  7. you could always build one from the surplus of parts on ebay. all old parts.... it would be great. im going to do that. wait, why am i telling you?!?!
  8. hey there. sean patrick = me. i have a bachelors in audio technology. soon going for a masters, hopefully at university of michigan. i have been recording now for about 5 years. on various formats. i also have had in-depth e-mail converstaions with walter sear for the last year which opened up my eyes. i grew up with the sound of vinyl in my parents house. all the old classic albums. everything from django to cream, you know? it was great. i bought my first cd player 10 years later, when i was about 14. i noticed a difference then and now. i have been in a band now that has been recording d
  9. yhf was recorded at the loft and a crc, right? one, an amature studio and the other an actual one. agib was recorded at sear sound. one of the best studios in the world. listen to a nice analogue recording of agib on a nice system and have your mind blown. analogue=best. digital = crap. always. it will never reach the natural sounding-ness of analogue. maybe way in the future..... im kind of dissapointed about the' jim being gone. he seems like a cool guy. he is a musician himself, which always helps i think. also he added little things here and there, like piano and guitar, which i thought
  10. look for a gibson es 333. its a great alt. to the more expensive 335. you can get one on ebay for less than a grand. also, they look just like jeff's old 330. because they are a satin finish. make sure you play whatever you decide on before buying, some people like fenders, some gibson, some both, it all depends on the necks. good luck.
  11. i let them know that i am a gay band. not really. but, neither are 90% of them on that list. this is what i wrote. a ferret named polo. so gay. two guys. in a band. no girls. gay. look them up anywhere. hopefully i get added.
  12. i think that pic is of david bowie, glued to the guitar. the bass strinsg side is his body sitting down, and then across the bridge, on the treble side is his legs. nels = neat goofball. isnt he one of those guys you would just want to have coffee with? doesnt jeff's sg look amazing.... im a sucker for weathered instruments.
  13. my factory pressing of still by joy division. or... an original of bitches brew... but i would be running out of the fire with those and my grado headphones in hand.... i couldnt leave those back....
  14. wait, is that jeff above??? how did you manage to play with him?
  15. so, i have an idea. seeing that we are all gearheads, and wilcofans, maybe we can work together and figure out some of the guitars and equipment wilco uses. just post neat pics of their stuff. who doesnt like pictures? overall, its fun to look at this stuff, and it would be cool if it was all in one place.
  16. hey, just remember, if you plan on having it forever, do whatever you want to it. i dont care if it is a squier, and adding stickers or adding a bigsby to one of eric claptons originals. if you want it done, do it. don t think of the devaluing of it or such, thats when things get out of hand, and when people start collecting and stop playing. which is goofy to me. its like a person with no feet collecting shoes. lol. i say this due to a few weeks ago being asked why i would want to put a vibrola on a rare sg. my retort was, because i dont care of the value, i care about how it plays. i know th
  17. could you post pics? that would help us along
  18. are there any others that would like to take part in this? come on.... come out and show us your neat stuff.....
  19. heres this.... the FAB Overdrive. they are 15 bucks and sound great. its like a toy pedal, but honestly outperforms many expensive ones. its based on an old boutique pedal. they are cheap and great. most that buy them love them i own one and then the distortion they make too.
  20. i believe it is an old gibson folk-singer model. you can usually get them for about 500-900 on ebay. they sound like an lg to me.... hope this helps.
  21. thax = baby. honestly, i dont know any of these people, but it seems like he was kind of pulling the whole "im a poet, therefore im mellowdramatic" hmm.
  22. thanks jdlee23, yes, that is my apartment. furnished by ikea. yes! we love that baby glockenspiel. it is all over our music. our set up constantly changes. adding new equipment, and changing things around. alot of fun. thanks for participating. sean. www.afnpmusic.com
  23. we made sure it was a nice day. it made for a good photo shoot though.
  24. i would suggest getting a sound card too. a mic plugged into the mic input will sound a bit better, but not really. also you wont be able to run a condensor off your computer due to in needing phantom power, unless you buy one that has a battery or a power outlet. the latter usually cost a great deal. but there is one condensor made by akg that is quite good and in your price range. its called the c 1000. about 120 bucks. we have a few and use it for drum overheads, and i use it live for vocals. for a dynamic too, you cant go wrong with a shure sm57. about 90 dollars. but honestly, save up a
