I agree with Lou. Guns are a part of our nation's DNA, if you will. The fact that having the names of all legal gun owners in a data base is a non-starter, really tells us all that we need to know. We know where the cars are, why can't we know where the guns are?

The Jayhawks (including Louris, Olson, and related)
Doug C replied to Analogman's topic in Someone Else's Song
Olson says Louris hit on his girlfriend/future wife. Apparently, it's an alt country tradition for the less talented member of a duo to make wild accusations and nurse grudges like John Boehner nurses a Scotch bottle. -
What is the going rate for Wilco memorabilia?

will I be yelled at for standing/dancing at a seated show?
Doug C replied to I side with the seeds's topic in After The Show
If my wife and I feel like standing and dancing /moving, then we're up and boppin'. That's why we are there, to be moved by the music. She's less concerned about others than I am, so she's usually up, then I join. Is it arrogant? Is it douchey? Sure, just as much as expecting no one to stand and dance at a rock show is arrogant and douchey. It's a coin with 2 sides and I can understand them both. Everyone paid money and feels as though they deserve a certain experience due to buying a ticket. Lately, depending on the act and prices, we have been choosing to, if available, sit in the last row -
Though it would be a monumental disaster, there would be perverse pleasure in a Trump presidency. If a nation existed that would be unaffected by anything the US did and I lived there, I would relish Trump as president. It would be a hilariously surreal shit show.

Much respect to those of you teaching middle and elementary school. I've never taught elementary but I taught middle for a year and a half. Definitely not my skill set. I ended up there due to unit loss after my first 2 years. I'll never forget how elated I was when I got a call at a Christmas party from my former principal: "Hello, Carter? This is Linwood". "Yes, sir?" "Art Shellman just died. You want his job?" And that's how I got back into high school! There are some teachers in my family. My oldest daughter teaches elementary gifted, her oldest daughter/our oldest granddaughter is in c

We're All Criminals Here: A Tribute to Uncle Tupelo
Doug C replied to Vaporized's topic in Someone Else's Song
Thanks for the info. Two Cow garage, Drag the River and Have Gun Will Travel are all excellent bands. I've never heard of Empty Orchestra. I can hear in my head how Two Cow Garage must tear up We've Been Had. Looking forward to listening. -
To clarify, I am no Deadhead but are you saying that most Deadheads think that those songs are Dead tunes and not covers? Thanks for indulging my ignorance.

I read on the internet that the marriage is a sham. It said that he only married her to make her a legal immigrant because he'd get paid big narco bucks for doing it.

I had decided not to get this. "I have most of that stuff. I'd rather spend the money on something else". I have spent most of the day listening to it on Spotify and have changed my mind. An excellent collection, making me smile often. The Monday demo, for instance. I have some money left on an Amazon gift card my oldest gave me for my birthday back in June and it is earmarked for AMF now.

He would tell you that he has never filed for bankruptcy. If you pressed him he would tell you that a few corporations that he was tangentially involved in, went bankrupt, but he bears no responsibility. Would you guys agree that many Americans would have no problem with the Trump immigration plan, even though it would increase the government immensely and require unseemly jackbooted tactics?
-
Indeed. 2 colleagues and I were discussing Coulter's Magna Carta-fication of Trump's immigration plan. Not to fulfill the internet Nazi law but, we all talked about how it echoes the Gestapo when you analyze it. How are you going to deport 11 million people? First you need to identify them, which, if even possible, would require government surveillance aided by people reporting on their neighbors. Second, jackboots kicking doors down and dragging families away. Then we realized that there are many Americans, not just ignorant yahoos, but educated people, who would be okay with that. A collec

Incorrect, Kevin.

Yeah, after they reunited for the Escovedo tribute album, they decided to really get back together but it all fell apart over different ideas on pay from Jay.

Wilco — 8/15/15, Sandpoint, ID (Memorial Field) [The Festival at Sandpoint]
Doug C replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
Sandpoint such a beautiful place, especially the lake. I had a nice time there a few years back. Too bad it was so weird for the show. -
I agree. Sanders is my candidate but sadly, you are correct. It will be Bush v. Clinton. Our nation is bizarre.

Yes. The reissue is worth getting. I'm excited but why do shows commemorating the 20th anniversary of Trace as an acoustic trio? Yes very cool that Eric Heywood is part of it but Jay and Gary Hunt? No Son Volt, whatever the version? Trace was clearly a band album. He's an odd dude.

How much money is it actually going to raise? It seems so odd. $100 to see what i assume is a local band and a somewhat obscure Americana legend. In Winter Haven, Florida. Most of the people in the Orlando area having an interest in seeing Jay Farrar, are likely to not be interested in paying $100. Yes, it's for charity, to restore a building that was one of Gram Parsons' first venues. A noble pursuit, but again, how much interest? Best of luck to them and I hope they raise all of the money they need. It just seems poorly conceived.

This what you get for $100. I have changed my mind and bought 2 tickets now that i know that the Toni Brown Band opens. GRAM PARSONS DERRY DOWN FUNDRAISER Doors Open 6pm Cocktails & Bites will be served, Toni Brown Band starts at 7pm. Jay Farrar takes the stage at 8pm, Ticket $100.

Also, that Winter Haven show is $100. He would have to play in my house and let me choose the set list before I'd pay that.

I read that back then. My point is that if not for a confusing ballot in one county, Gore would have easily made up the 225 vote margin that the NY times analysis found existed. Nearly 20,000 ballots were disqualified for double punches. I am confident that at least 226 of those were Gore voters that realized they punched Buchanan in error.
