I agree about Nader getting blamed. There were several reasons why the actual winner of the 2000 presidential election wasn't inaugurated, Nader was the least of them. You could make the case that the lion's share of blame goes to whoever approved the butterfly ballot in West Palm Beach. I think that it was close to 30,00 votes disqualified. Jesus H. I agree that effective governors seem to make effective presidents. They have experience as the head of a government's executive branch, so it at least follows logic. A couple of examples that aren't in our lifetime are FDR and Eisenhower. FDR as governor of New York and Eisenhower as Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe and commander of the European Theater of Operations, U.S. Army. A governor and a Five Star General do what presidents do, make executive decisions based not on increasing shareholder profits but on providing services to citizens. Trump, Fiorina, Perot, et al., have

Exactly. Businesses exist to make a profit for investors, owners and shareholders. Government doesn't exist to make a profit, but to provide services for citizens, you know promoting the general welfare and such. People like Trump certainly know how to make money but the "business" of governing is anathema to them.

John, thanks! Calling out is bad form, that was the exact quote. Ha ha! Trump appeals to many Republicans but as Kevin was saying, when it comes down to it, even many of the people he appeals to wouldn't actually vote for him. Manson/ISIS "analogy" is laughable.

Ha ha! I knew I shouldn't have edited. I originally had "calling Hixter out" but changed it. Remember when he went on about calling him out?

John Smith and tinnitus photography, calling someone out is verboten.

One of my favorite solos has always been Highway Star. I remember how much I obsessed over it all those years ago.

Well that settles that!

Nice! I love having shows that I attended. -
So if you regret voting for the president in 2012, does that mean you wish that you voted for Romney and would rather he won?

Tommy, Thanks for the reply. I understand what you are saying. It good that the music of Jeff Tweedy was/is there for you and provided what you needed/need. Music, Jeff Tweedy's and others, plays a central role in my life. The power that it has to affect my emotional state is truly wondrous. Family plays a similar role. The difference is that i honestly don't give a damn what anyone else, most of all a critic that I have no relationship to, thinks about a band/musician/album/song that I love. Nor do I care what they think about my preferred TV, movies, books, etc. I might laugh or think

Not everyone... Hell, he's actually stressing some people out. I agree with you. Why do people take a band personally?

A wordsmith known as redsun at www.jayfarrar.net "Ok. another Wilco stuff, another topic. Short and directly. A big disappointment for me. Even not a single good song... What do you think?"

I also found the review funny and a good review overall. Thankfully, it did not add to my stress level.

What matters most to me in a musician is that I have an emotional connection to the music they create. Whatever specific quality or qualities produce said connection, is/are irrelevant.

I was in Croatia for 9 days a few weeks ago. I definitely give a glowing recommendation. Mainly the Dalmatian Coast but Istrian peninsula and Lake Plitivice National Park. It's a must. We started in Slovenia for 5 days and ended with 3 in Bosnia. Amazing trip. Was in New Brunswick a few years back, Enjoyed it but not nearly as much as Nova Scotia or Newfoundland, which I think you have been.

I never understood "contact high". It always sounds as though you somehow get high without trying. The only "contact highs" I ever get is when I purposefully breath deeply and hold it in often when I'm sans weed and around strangers smoking. I agree that it's a myth. You must be an active participant.

A hobby! Well that is a horse of a different color. As long as the giraffe consents, then sex away.

Isn't this in the wrong thread? There are far more offensive band names anyway.

We were in Ljublana, Slovenia a week ago (now we're in Korcula on Korcula Island in Croatia) and found a "Special Beer Shop". They had beers from about 6-7 Slovenian craft breweries. They hadn't been opened long and had a nice conversation with the knowledgeable owner. She knew her beer. We chose a double IPA, IPA, red IPA, porter, stout, Belgian triple, double bock and a smoked porter. All were excellent. Other than the triple and double bock, we weren't expecting to find those styles. Haven't found a similar store throughout Croatia, but have found decent pilsners, basic lagers and dark lage

Because if he is, he has power over peoples lives and, therefore, his hypocrisy should be made known.

Kevin G, I disagree with you and agree with Hixter. I'll take it a step further though and say that if Graham is gay, then he should be outed, due to his voting record on gay issues. It isn't mudslinging to call out hypocrisy that is harmful to people.
