Farrar is Farrar and Tweedy is Tweedy. I have no desire to compare them but I do have a desire to hear their new music and see their shows. I am excited for both of the new releases. I am nervous about my Knoxville tickets lack of arrival, though...

I am yet to receive my Knoxville tickets. -
The state of the music business thread...
Doug C replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
HA! Thanks, Louie, I did not know that. Hilarious. It is a great line. Brian Henneman is definitely one of those artists that warrants much wider acclaim and exposure. He's a regular guy to boot. -

"Who knows what this repair will cost, scared to spend a dime I'll puke if that jukebox plays John Cougar one more time" -
While no money/tickets have yet changed hands, these tickets are spoken for. So I am closing the thread as per instructions. Thank you.

What happened to the Jay Farrar message board?
Doug C replied to Brent Best's topic in Someone Else's Song
That was weird. A buddy actually found the domain name for sale when it first happened. I don't know if it still is. Whatever the reason... typical. I agree hardwood. There are some great folks there but the message board is the only thing about the site that's worthwhile. It is also cool that Brian posts. He has for years. His posts are always welcome and usually insightful. Spencer on the other hand, though an incredible musician, mostly posts to shill his used equipment and berate fans. He very rarely, if ever, gives any insight into a show, a song, recording, etc. Why post on your band -
What happened to the Jay Farrar message board?
Doug C replied to Brent Best's topic in Someone Else's Song
It is very typical of Jay and or Fast Atmosphere. No announcement of any kind made on the board of what is happening. It is just gone. Yesterday we were posting away, today, poof! You are sent to register.com. Apparently the domain name rights lapsed. You can buy jayfarrar.net for $59.99. Ha ha! None of the boarders i have been in contact with are surprised. That site was useless. The only worthwhile thing was goofing on the unmoderated, anything goes message board. That was a hoot. Sometimes too much what with a spate of abortion and porn photos due to 2 people awhile back (sure to turn off a -
Sweet set!1 Thank you. My wife and I are very excited about Friday in Atlanta. We were already expecting a great show since they said it was an 'I'm sorry' makeup show. Then even more expectation arose when it was announced as 'the final Cardinals show ever'. Now he is a happy newlywed. If this show doesn't make the earth move under our feet, then something bad will happen at the Fox Theatre! The Oct. Atlanta (Alpharetta) show was a great 70 minutes. When we saw them at Red Rocks a couple of years ago, 'I See Monsters' was incredible. I agree with the 'Good gracious, what a song'. Fingers

I never heard back from the party that emailed me that they wanted them. I'm bumping just to make it clear that they are still available. Thanks.

Top 3 most underwhelming bands/artists you've ever seen
Doug C replied to Mrs. Peel's topic in Someone Else's Song
I never saw them that late. The Ness incident unfortunately doesn't surprise me. I never experienced that level of douchebaggery but heard stories. I just remember that they never failed to completely rock the house. I was probably lucky... -

Whoa! If I may ask, when was this? The times I saw them in the mid-late 80s, early 90s were the antithesis of boring. -

I am not well versed computer-wise so I would appreciate if you or someone else could explain to me why starting a thread with the same topic as an old one is so frowned upon? I can understand when the original is still on the same page or is recent, but a year old? It just seems to me that it is unnecessary negativity. darkstar68 (and others) come upon, what is for them, a fresh topic and sincerely post a thread about it because they are genuinely interested and assume that others will be also. Posting a link to the original thread serves no purpose in my opinion but to say, "This already exi -

Darkstar68, I am glad that you didn't find it when you searched. If you had found it and said, "Oh, since it was discussed a year ago, I'd better not post it", I wouldn't have read it, having missed it the first time. Thanks for assuming that you may not have been the only person that missed the original thread. Cheers. -

Thank you for posting this. I found it to be quite interesting. I am excited for my wife to read it as she is a migraine sufferer. Nothing really seems to help her except Imitrex. But taking it so frequently is not healthy. Her neurologist and her GP both feel that the migraines will go away, or at least lessen in frequency and severity, after menopause (as was the case with jeff's mother). She is perimenopausal now. Fingers crossed. Thanks again. -
Maybe what Wilco needs is a Bez to credit with freaky dancing. But all of the drugs would likely be a bad idea.

Matty, I agree with alison. A reputable home inspector is critical, especially if you are buying an older home. Make sure that they belong to the professional organization and get references. We had an excellent one who saved us alot of problems when we bought our 1928 bungalow almost 5 years ago. He identified some problems, one structural, that the seller fixed prior to the contract being signed. Our inspector came back out and was satisfied. It was money well spent. My wife and I are also teachers, high school. edit> I should have kept reading past Alison's post. You've got the insp

I have to agree about it being a strange question and about why would Jeff have any desire to sing Jay's songs. If he didn't sing them in the Tupelo days, what would compel him to sing them now? If he sang a Jay UT song, it would, in my opinion obviously, seem so contrived no matter the reason, that Jeff would look like an ass. Jaysus, that's a lot of commas. It can't be grammatically correct, can it?

Orchestra left, row O, seats 1 and 3. Total including fees is $82.90. For the last several tours, I have always bought an extra pair during pre-sale if I can in case someone gets shut out. I'm a geeky dork. Email me at docarter1@msn.com if interested.

Son Volt/Jay Farrar/Gob Iron album titles: Trace, Straightaways, Wide Swing Tremolo, A Retrospective 1995-2000, Sebastopol, Thirdshiftgrottoslack EP, Terroir Blues, Stone Steel and Bright Lights, Live EP, Live In Seattle, Afterglow 61 EP, Okemah And The Melody Of Riot, The Search, Death Songs For The Living. I am curious (but not yellow). Which of these titles, other than possibly Terroir Blues, made you 'reach for a dictionary'? Regain your interest. I'll bet that you'll still like him quite a bit.

Wilco may not need me at every possible show but I need to be at every possible show. Good vibes and good fortune tomorrow.

I agree. Not leaps and bounds greater but they are both formidable musicians. I have seen Mark with Jay before and Chris with Son Volt. I am really looking forward to seeing them both with the Volt on Saturday.

The sale started at 9:58 by my computer clock. The first 4 times it kept giving me 'no tickets available'. The 5th I was able to buy 2 orchestra right row G seats 2 & 4. The only time that I have failed to get tickets during many, many pre-sales was for the Residency. I must be like that New Order song.
