  1. Dude, forgive me. I seriously assumed that you were riffing on what I said since you immediately said that SY were overrated when he mentioned them. An easy mistake. Whatever your personal reasons were for your post are obviously unknown to me. Forgive me for trying to be funny.
  2. My wife HAS a crush on John Stirrat, less so when he has a beard. I may be wrong but I think that the Sonic Youth comment was testing if you 'may be too sensitive for the internet'!
  3. Welcome. I hope that you are not too sensitive for the internet. (An inside joke. No offense meant. Thank you for the opportunity to use it! )
  4. Thank you. And thanks for understanding the misunderstanding.
  5. I accept. I am proud of my ability to provide comic relief. Even when unintended. And since "Unwelcome Guest" is a song on a Wilco album, I'll wear that as a badge of honor.
  6. Hmm... I loved MASH. To my memory, though he provided much needed comic relief, he was always an 'unwelcome guest'.
  7. This entire farcical episode is an example of why the internet is a poor method of communication. If mardog and I had been sitting on my front porch, in my local or on the telephone, as soon as I said something like, 'The worst seats? Fuck you.', it would have soon become clear that we had a simple misunderstanding. The outcome would have been laughter and another round or plans to meet for one. I am drawn to it, none the less... Thank you. Is the thanks because you enjoyed the anecdote, enjoyed the comedy that it birthed or both?
  8. Ha ha! Actually, I am not. I have almost 10,000 posts on one board and almost 5,000 on another. I have not only survived, I have thrived. Or at least annoyed the hell out of people for several years.
  9. Actually, unsolicited = Starting a Thread on a Message Board. Touche' on your intent though. You are correct in that no one asked me to start a thread about my Wilco good fortune.
  10. No I am not really like 45 years old. I really will be 45 years old in about 6 weeks. Yes I have been going to concerts for 30 years. Obviously all that I meant by that was that I have had a variety of seating experiences. Any other questions?
  11. I am aware of that. It was quite obvious from my use of it, that I meant the front row. In the future I will refrain from using pop culture references. I apologize to mardog if he meant the last row. I see now how that could have been misinterpreted by both parties. I accept that I now look like the asshole. Que sera, sera. I am going to St. Louis next week and have 1st and 4th row seats in August. The wife and I are very happy.
  12. Then why say "FYI, Uecker seats are the worst in the house"? What could possibly be the reason? It isn't necessary or important to say something negative in a response to something so positive. Remember me from the license plate thread? 'It's the principle'.
  13. Thank you. I always appreciate when people feel the need to give their contradictory opinions to someone expressing happy emotions in a completely benign, non-confrontational way. Seriously, what in the hell possesses a person to feel the need to do that? Why? Do you feel that your view is so superior that you must make someone else aware of it for no other reason than imparting knowledge? Jaysus. I will be 45 years old in about 6 weeks. I have been going to concerts since I was 14 years old. I have had seats and standing room from the front of the stage to the wall in the back. I personal
  14. I sold my Charleston tickets here at VC because with the expense of going to the 3 Pageant shows next week, I wanted to save some money. I was excited when the Jacksonville show came up and decided to go since it's closer than SC and the venue is excellent. I bought 8th row seats at 10 AM today and was happy. 15 minutes later, I went back to Music Today to see how random the pre-sale is (the pre-sale vs. ticketmaster thread got me to thinking). I ended up with Bob Uecker seats1 "Uh oh! I must be in the front row". I have been in the afterglow ever since. Feeling frisky, I went to Ticketmaster
  15. It is beyond decent. It is a 1920s era movie palace. Absolutely gorgeous inside. Great sound, also. Google Florida Theatre and check the place out. We have the Tampa Theatre here. Very similar venue even prettier! Wilco played there in 2002 when they were a 4 piece plus Mikael working the laptop. Fantastic show. I wish they'd play there again. Welcome to F-L-A1
  16. Sounds like a plan. Did you see them in March of '06 in the Florida Theatre? Excellent venue and a great show.
  17. To answer the original question, it varies. I went on Music Today at 10 AM this morning for Jacksonville and got 2 in row H. 15 minutes later, on a lark, I went back and now have row A!!!!
  18. Holy shit!!! I decided to see what other seats came up. Now I also have section 300, row A!!!! FIRST row! WHOOT!!
  19. Section 200 Row H for the Florida Theatre! WHOOT!!
  20. Brian and the BRox are one the most consistently excellent live acts. I was familiar with Brian from being a Tupelo lover. I first saw them tropical Heatwave in Tampa after The Brooklyn Side had been released. Heatwave is a 3 stage one day festival. We chose to see BRox over other acts on the strength of hearing Welfare Music on WMNF. We have been big fans ever since. The album before Zoysia, Live From Heilbronner Germany, is excellent and was recorded on Brian's birthday. The energy comes through. They have had some personnel changes over the years but the current line up is tight and rocks.
  21. Ha ha! The craziest double bill that I ever saw was Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble opening for Huey Lewis and The News. What I had to sit through... it was worth it though. I keed, I keed! I stayed Huey because that's why my ride was there.
  22. I have been a John Hiatt fan since Bring the Family. He is damned talented and very deserving.
  23. I am just like you, Pop Todd! I will always buy 'em, I just pre-ordered the new Old 97s CD/DVD last Thursday, but i rarely watch 'em and I own some that I have yet to watch1 Ha ha!
  24. I still buy cds but regularly download songs/albums when a friend sends me a megaupload-type link or I see one posted in a message board. I have occasionally searched for free downloads, but not very often. I feel that when someone buys something, it is their's to do with as they please. The business model of music distribution is changing. It really isn't a new concept. I taped many a cassette for friends of albums and they for me back in the Stone Age.
