  1. As I said previously in a more thoughtful and diplomatic way... it isn't a 'best of' list. Read the article.
  2. Hmm... my take on this list is quite different from most everyone else's in the thread. Even though it is titled 10 Essential Alt-country Albums, if you read the article prior to the list, the listmaker doesn't appear to be saying "THESE ARE THE BEST ALT-COUNTRY ALBUMS". It seems as though they are simply saying post Uncle Tupelo (they make it clear why UT isn't in the list), here are 10 alt-country albums that are great representations of the genre and deserve to be heard. This quote toward the end pretty much says that they know that there are other great albums: "The ten selections for this
  3. My wife and I were very saddened during supper when I read of Del's passing in the paper. A truly courageous and remarkable woman. An American hero. She and Phyllis are worth learning more about. I know that I will have some upset GSA members tomorrow.
  4. Looking forward to meeting watch me fall (love that name!) and others!
  5. It's music. It moves you or it doesn't. I like hearing lots of opinions and views regarding Wilco. What is a message board for if not to leave messages?
  6. My shirt is black and maroon/burgundy, not black and purple.
  7. The tickets have been sold.
  8. I have not yet heard from the fellow in the 'need tickets' area. He has right of first refusal. That said, I have sec 200, row H, seat 3 and 4. The total with fees is $75.40. They are at will call in my name so we'll have to meet before the show. Email me if interested and I'll email you my mobile phone number. docarter1@msn.com
  9. 100% chance. I sent you another email.
  10. I like SBS and I loved What Light the first time I heard it, which was when Tweedy opened with it at Raleigh in August of 2006. I was immediately smitten by this never before heard, by me at least, beautiful wonder. I also dug Sky Blue Sky that night, though at the time it was called Lullaby For Rafters and Beams and, Jeff told us, was from the soundtrack of the film Zamboni Man that a friend had made a couple of years before and he just felt like playing it again - little did I know! - (not like I'm telling any of you something that you don't already know). You have to chuckle at the subjec
  11. 75% chance that I have 2. Sec. 200, row H, seats 3 and 4. I sent you an email.
  12. Wife and I are serious about meeting up. Bar area sounds good. Then we can repair to a table for food if no one has lost their appetite!
  13. I read it in the Times yesterday. Tragic. A feral child in 2005! What was equally disturbing was that DCF was at the house twice before. How could they not have interviewed the child? that is incompetence. If they did and didn't remove her, it's criminal.
  14. That is very cool that he and Bill Belzer did New Madrid. What a guy! That had to be a great vibe.
  15. I'll be wearing a black quasi-bowling shirt type of thing with 2 wide, vertical purple stripes down the front, Levis, Dr. Martens, a buzz cut with a receding hairline and a beard - both flecked with ever-increasing grey (with that sad description, I'm sure that no one will speak to me but I'll provide lots of entertainment for ya'll to mock me from your table!). My wife will be wearing clothes.
  16. My wife and I are meeting friends, 2 couples from the Farrar board, and staying at one of 'ems. I'll find out what our plans are. London Bridge sounds good. I love meeting folks.
  17. Good news! That one guy called both the Days Inn and Buffalo Wild Wings. He was told that it is a safe walk to the PAC from each.
  18. No one is going to believe me but my name is Kevin Christian Jensen.
  19. I am sure that you know this but in case someone doesn't, the BWW is 3/10ths of a mile from the PAC 5001 Coliseum Dr, North Charleston, SC 29418 0.3 mi (about 1 min) 1. Head northeast on Coliseum Dr toward International Blvd 0.1 mi 2. Continue on Centre Pointe Dr 0.2 mi Centre Pointe Dr. The Days Inn and the Wild Wings both walking distance from the PAC! WHOOT!
  20. Wild Wing sounds like a plan. I just booked a room at the Days Inn Charleston - Airport Coliseum 2 blocks from the venue for $48.95 incuding tax. Continental breakfast too! Even if it is a dump, I'll take walking distance at $50 for one night. http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInn/control/Boo...Number=00026946
  21. I disagree. "...to make or become dull or weary..." I think he was spot on.
  22. I admit that though i know what those words mean, I don't know what they mean when put together in a sentence.
  23. I found the link. http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=36174
  24. All of the places mentioned are essential, well I've never been to the Morrison Cemetery in all of my visits, so I'd add the Catacombs http://www.catacombes-de-paris.fr/english.htm . But then the wife and I like bones/ossuarys(ies?). Speaking of which, if you are ever in the czech republic, the bone church in Kutna Hora is a must http://www.discoverczech.com/kutna-hora/os...one-church.php4 Amsterdam in a day? Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House, Rijksmuseum and http://www.greyarea.nl/
