I have to say I am loving the weekly (sometimes more) emails i get from his transition team, telling me what they're up to. i have never felt so involved (in national stuff) in my life. I kind of like it.

my co-worker says that he's been under investigation for a while and that he's a bad apple. his hair sure is suspect.

I read on a blog that the company in question basically tanked the Chicago company and started another company JUST LIKE IT in Iowa, saying that THAT company will be able to fulfill the window orders. I am unsure why BoA is being painted as the bad guy if that's the case, unless if it was because they are financing this new Iowa company, and screwing the union as a result. I must get to the bottom of this!

Do do they get paid before or after the creditors? If they get to piggy back with all the other creditors, (assuming the plant is filing for bankrupcy) then they are probably the last to (not) get paid. Does state law say that workers get paid before anyone else? That would be good if it did. If it doesn't then i hope the legislation is being written right now. There are other cities in IL besides chicago? I mean, really?

But the workers are still owed their last paycheck. I think that's what the deal is. Yeah, maybe it is throwing good money after bad, but what are these people going to do? Get in line after the creditors? What's the solution? I'm not even a fan of labor unions but even I know this sucks. BoA got bailout money--where did it go?

well, i think it depends on just how big of a risk extending credit to this factory is. I would imagine that there's a bit of a slowdown for doors and windows since new home sales and construction is down, but it doesn't mean that the credit being extended isn't just how business is generally done during the last quarter with shit is usually freaking slow anyway. Unless it is retail. or fruit delivery.

The governor of Chicago has asked that all businesses refrain from doing bidness with Bank of America until they give credit to that door and window company so the workers can be paid.

It seems to me that the chick was pwned by the hole, not that the hole was pwned. But perhaps I just don't know anything.

This may seem like an odd request, but I suffer from terrible headaches, and have been on (i think) the same meds that Jeff was on before he had his surgery. I have searched high and low for the name of the surgery that he had that helped his headaches. Does anyone know? I think it was somehow sinus related. I ask because I have been listening to some solo shows of his where he references the headaches, the meds and the upcoming surgery. Thanks in advance, all you wilco folks.

Heard on the news today that the obama transition team has received over 300,000 applications for the 8000 jobs that will be available. I wonder if that is par for the course when there is a regime change, or if that is simply an insane number?

my laptop running vista has lost its ability to have functioning control keys. What's up with that? How do I fix it? I have googled it and it seems no one else has this problem? Coincidentally, or not, the problem was noticed when it came back from the repair shop where it got a new power jack. Is it possible that someone got loose inside, do you think? Or does Microsoft just SUCK!?

I am a fan of the sony earbuds with different sized "buds." I think the ones i have are the Fontopia 17. they are cheap so if i break them or a cat chews through them i can easily get another pair. the sound is quite good and they are very unobtrusive.
