  1. I'm always so happy to see threads like this. I think it's great that the band almost always comes out to greet fans. It may delay them a half-hour or an hour, but it always means the world to us. I'm usually pretty shy, especially when I meet people I admire, but I've never felt nervous talking with these guys. They're so friendly, and when they thank you for coming to a show, they really mean it. How many bands are like that? Not enough, if you ask me.
  2. The drive from Cleveland to Boston will be long, but if you're taking the NY Thruway to the Mass Pike, it will be an easy, scenic drive. I crossed New York on 86 instead of the Thruway last month when I was headed to Missouri, and it was bumpy and awful. I definitely recommend the Thruway. Have a good trip!
  3. Excellent. I'm down close enough that I should hopefully be able to get some good pictures, and it's good to know there will be tapers. I was wondering for awhile if the show might be pro-shot, since they announced no cameras way back in April, but maybe the band's plans have changed.
  4. I just realized that the theater where they played last fall still had its 2007-2008 schedule posted. No wonder I couldn't find any information about ticket sales But Pollstar is still showing a date for this November...weird.
  5. These guys are playing in my town in November. I'm thinking I should check them out, since we don't get too many good shows, especially once winter arrives.
  6. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. That first one is terrific!
  7. A few upcoming Sonic Youth dates for those of us in the northeast: Fri. 8/29 at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia (with the Hold Steady)--tickets go on sale at noon tomorrow Sat. 8/30 at McCarren Pool in Brooklyn I'm hoping to make it to Philly
  8. That's a nice way of putting it. It's Just That Simple is one of my favorites from A.M., and the live versions of it this year have been lovely. I'm hoping they play it in Wilmington or at Tanglewood. I was so surprised when they played it at Lollapalooza, but I was also really thrilled for John to get that moment in the spotlight. He certainly deserved it. And, to echo what gogo said, he's also the nicest, most down-to-earth guy.
  9. Interesting, especially considering I've heard they planned to be in the studio for most if not all of October.
  10. Aren't we all big Wilco fans? I feel like that goes without saying around here.
  11. I'm wondering if they're serious about no cameras, too. I've taken pictures there in the past, though I was out in the grass and they were pictures of friends. I'm going to bring my camera, and if they really hassle me about it, I'll go back and put it in my car.
  12. That's just lousy. I hope the gear turns up soon. Watt seems like the nicest guy, and Lamrod is right that he probably wouldn't be able to replace everything that was stolen.
  13. When you get past his jazz guy exterior, you see that Nels acts like a big kid a lot of the time, especially with goofy things like this.
  14. Thanks for all the links to pictures, blureu. New wallpaper and a new avatar for me when I get home today
  15. I hope you guys get your request, Scott
  16. Nels's skull suit will be my next avatar, as soon as I find a decent picture of it. He looked so badass. I'd been starting to look forward to next week's shows, but watching the webcast last night made me really get excited!
  17. Great set list for a festival show. I wasn't expecting them to break out a few of those songs. I can't wait for next weekend!
  18. I fell in love with this song again this past spring, and I was so thrilled to hear it the night I requested it in St. Louis. It's such a blast live.
  19. Is it crazy of me to still be hopeful that some portion of the Boston Symphony's string section might join them at Tanglewood for Jesus, Etc.? That was one of the first things I thought of back in April when I got my ticket. It would make what I think is one of Wilco's most lovely songs even better.
  20. I managed to get a ticket for Wilmington, so I'll see you next weekend As recently as last week I was thinking about tacking on Cary, but there's no way in hell I'm making another drive that long this summer. I did 13 hours to St. Louis and 14 a few weeks ago to see the Singers a few times. My car and I are barely on speaking terms as it is.
  21. John has a ship on the back, and some whales on the front. Mike has an owl, I think. Pat has a dragonfly on the front. I was wondering what the hell that was on the back of Glenn's shirt.
  22. I'm really loving this one. I've been holding off on listening to it, but it's got the layered sort of sound I was hoping they'd pursue more for the next album. I really hope they keep playing it in the next few weeks.
  23. Oh good, it's not just me then. I always think Nels could be louder
  24. wow...I wasn't expecting It's Just That Simple. Awesome.
