  1. Jeff missed the harmonica part and VC crashed on me
  2. This is such a pretty arrangement of this song. It floored me the other night. It was my first time getting to hear ST live, and it's always been one of my favorites.
  3. Thanks for taking my picture with Jeff. It came out great! I waited with a few others until around 1 for the other guys and got to talk to Nels I was frozen until I was up past Allentown, even with the heat cranked all the way up, but it was totally worth it. What a memorable night it was. It came just at the right time, too--we ended up having a big snowstorm yesterday and today!
  4. I saw DMB once when I was in college, when some friends dragged me nearly against my will. In a span of five minutes, somebody threw up right next to me, then a very drunk girl in front of me dropped her pants in the middle of GA and peed on my shoe. It was the most awful crowd I've ever been in. You couldn't pay me to get within a 10 mile radius of a DMB show ever again.
  5. Can you send them up to the Pines after you're done with them? I'd love three summers in a row up there, and it will give me an excuse to go visit my best friend. When's Lollapalooza? I remember somebody mentioning that John said they might play that. It wouldn't surprise me if they did another short run of shows either right before or right after that, even though they may not tour extensively.
  6. I remember their last show from NPR being archived for a fairly long time. I never figured out how to download it, but I went back to listen to it a bunch of times.
  7. I second that yay. He was terrific on Saturday. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed an opening act I wasn't too familiar with.
  8. I feel so spoiled rotten by Wilco lately--3 webcasts and an amazing show in two weeks
  9. I went ahead and bought a ticket. I'll be starting off my summer with a train trip west
  10. Maybe it's Philadelphia crowds in general. I saw Ryan Adams at the Electric Factory a few years ago, and it was the worst concert I've ever been to, largely because of the crowd. It was definitely a weird mix of people on Saturday. It baffled me to look around after the first few songs, maybe during Airline to Heaven, and see almost everyone sitting, especially down in the front. The sound was great, though, and the band was in top form. I didn't let anything bug me the whole night. I agree that you should do what you want at a show, as long as you're not being rude to anybody else. I mean, it
  11. Oh wow, what a great setlist. It's great to see them mixing it up. I would've loved to have heard Radio Cure. That's pretty funny that Pat disappeared. I can't help but think of that part in This Is Spinal Tap where they're all lost between the dressing room and the stage.
  12. I feel really badly for those of you in the upper levels who had a bad time with the crowd and security. The atmosphere was so much different where I was, which was over on the far left. I had an aisle seat about 12 rows back, and I never saw a security person the entire night except helping people find their seats. In fact, I was surprised that they let so many people congregate in the far aisle. Everybody in my area danced and sang and had a great time. I absolutely hate when people get stupidly drunk at shows. I mean, of course it's their choice to enjoy the show however they want, but wh
  13. I really wish I could go. The first show is on my birthday. Glenn was loading a van with equipment last night to send down to New York. He seems to really be looking forward to these shows.
  14. I was really impressed by his set last night. I'm only vaguely familiar with X, and a friend mentioned that his more recent work is quite good. His band was small but powerful, and the set was straightforward, no-nonsense rock. I was hoping he'd do that X song 4th of July, but I liked every song he played. I would definitely go see him again, and I think I'm going to pick up one of his albums the next time I buy some CDs. I had to laugh--I was on my way to the bathroom when I first got there, and I saw this guy standing in the lobby looking around. He looked vaguely familiar, so I figured
  15. I talked with Nels for a little while last night, and he said he's planning a tour with the Singers a little later in the year and that yes, they're coming east. He doesn't know how far east yet, but it's good to see a definite date not in California. If they don't make it to the east coast, I know what I'll be using my tax rebate check for, because I'm dying to see these guys. All three of their albums have completely amazed me.
  16. This was the best concert I've ever been to. I'll elaborate more tomorrow, after some much-needed sleep. I briefly met Jeff not too long after the show, then froze my ass off waiting for the others. I got to say hi to Glenn and Pat and Mikael, and talked to Nels for a little bit. They were all so tired, so it was terrific of them to hang around for a few minutes. I don't know if I missed John or if he hadn't come out before I left, but it was one by then, and I needed to get home. I figured I'd drive for awhile then stop somewhere for the night, but I was so excited that I drove the whole f
  17. There aren't any hotels immediately nearby. I was going to try to stay tonight, but when I realized the closest hotel was the Sheraton (about 15 minutes away) and that it would cost I think about $182 including tax and everything for one night, I decided the hell with it and I'll just stay sober and start driving back tonight. I'll be in row LL in the far left section. I'm going to wear my purple corduroys today, so I should stand out if anybody wants to come say hi I'm planning to hit the road in about two hours!
  18. I was hoping for Too Far Apart tonight, but oh well. That's an interesting order for the setlist. I wonder if they'll highlight a certain album each night the way they did Summerteeth last night. Did John Doe go on at 7:30 or 8? I'm hoping 7:30, because otherwise that doesn't give him much time to play.
  19. I went out and bought new gloves yesterday specifically for waiting outside tomorrow after the show. How long does it usually take for them to come out if they're going to? Hopefully they won't leave us freezing out there for too long! I bought a SBS promo poster on ebay awhile ago that I thought would be great to get signed. If I remember, I might throw that in my car tomorrow before I leave.
  20. Thank you Wilco for spoiling all of us, really. My love for this band has grown by leaps and bounds over the last year, and I think a lot of it has to do with how much gratitude they show their fans, and how generous they are. They could have some stupid overpriced fan club for presale codes, webcasts, and bonus materials, but they give it all away for free. What other band puts a request form up on their website at the start of a tour? Wilco's music has brought a lot of comfort to me in tough times and a lot of joy to me during happy times, but I have so much respect for them, too. They're
  21. Looks like the weather in Philly is supposed to be messy tomorrow, but Saturday is still looking good, and Sunday, too. I'm still a little nervous about it, though, and will be until I'm there! I don't know why, but I'm feeling good about the band coming out to chat a bit after the show, maybe since it's been awhile since they've played in Philly. I'll be the one geeking out over Nels
  22. I'll save A-man the trouble... Here.
