  1. Wow, that's a great price, and the place looks pretty nice. Maybe I'll go ahead and book a room there. I definitely don't need anything fancy, since I'm basically just going to be sleeping there (and eating their free breakfast). I'll have my car, too, so I can always decide to drive over there one day. If I do, I'd gladly welcome some company. I think the biggest selling point might be that there's a Steak N Shake a quarter of a mile away. I haven't had one since I left Florida five years ago!
  2. It's been wonderful to see how much success they've had over the last year, and I feel truly lucky to get the chance to see them play at the height of all of it.
  3. Does anybody have the full setlist for those of us who couldn't tune in?
  4. Tweedy-O's: now with five kinds of guitar-shaped marshmallows. If you send in 100 box tops, you get a Nudie suit of your very own!
  5. I hope my good ticket mojo can last a few more days. I read the Wilcoworld email while my students were doing an in-class assignment this morning, and it took every bit of self-control I had not to squee with delight.
  6. I'm so thrilled they're adding a third show in St. Louis. I'm making the trip to celebrate the end of my first year as a college professor. It's been a really rough year for me--I had some serious health problems in the fall, and until last week it was looking like there wasn't going to be enough money in the department's budget to bring me back next year--so I feel like I have a lot to celebrate. I'm making it a road trip, I think, so if anybody wants to come along for the ride, let me know
  7. I wonder if they'll keep that lineup for the summer tour. That will be coming to Rochester sometime in June. I didn't want to drop a lot of money on a seat, but I might buy a lawn ticket at the last minute.
  8. You start calling the lanky, sort of blond-colored cat in your neighborhood Nels Cline. Before long, he actually comes out of the bushes when you call "Nellllllllls!" I also think I moved past love into obsession when I bought tickets for the St. Louis shows without even pausing to realize that I live 14 hours from St. Louis.
  9. That tour came to my area, too. I still kick myself for not going, because it's not like X is going to come to upstate NY again anytime soon.
  10. I'll get around to seeing Pearl Jam one of these days. Not this time around, though, I don't think. KOL is a great choice for an opener for them, though. I saw them open for U2 a few years ago and really enjoyed them, even though the crowd was pretty rude to them (and was for the whole tour, from what I've gathered). They're still young, but I've been a fan since their debut EP, and it's been cool to watch them evolve.
  11. I'm annoyed at iTunes. I hate when they make tracks "album only" on compilations like this. It makes sense when they do it for long tracks, but here it's like they know people are only going to want certain songs.
  12. This is a very thoughtful and well written article. It definitely wasn't yet another rehashing of the usual facts, like many articles I've read are. It was also cool to hear from Mikael--I don't think I'd ever read an interview with him before. It's nice to know they're headed into the studio soon, and that they're just going to take their time and have fun. It sounds like a really natural process, and one that I'm sure could have some great results.
  13. I got shut out quite a few times before I was able to get tickets for St. Louis, so if you're getting an error message, keep trying!
  14. I really like the ordering of the set list. It must've made for some great transitions. It's nice to see Radio Cure make an appearance, too. That's one of a handful that I love but still haven't heard.
  15. I only had the will call option, too. I'm glad for this, because it will really cut down on the likelihood of tickets being scalped. This is the first time I've ever planned this big of a trip for a show. I haven't flown in a few years, either, so this is shaping up to be quite an adventure! I'm definitely going to show up early in the day to line up. It will be fun meeting some VCers!
  16. Ditto for me. I even forgot my password and had to have it emailed to me, so I figured I was doomed. Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to pay for the rest of the trip
  17. I'll be mid-road trip Friday when the general sale starts, so if I don't get tickets tomorrow, I'll be breaking out my saddest and most pathetic face in the hopes that someone here will be nice enough to pick up an extra for me
  18. I'm wondering how hard it's going to be to get tickets tomorrow, especially since I'm hoping to get one for each night. I'll be in the middle of a long trip by the time the general sale starts Friday, so if I can't get tickets in the presale, I might luck out.
  19. I stood outside for two hours in 20 degree weather a few weeks ago so I could meet Jeff and Nels. You don't have to explain
  20. Most places tend to be fine with it as long as it's a small camera without a detachable lense. It depends on the artist's wishes, though, too. I saw Wilco and Bob Dylan at the same venue last summer within two days of each other. I was allowed to bring my camera in for Wilco, but they were confiscating cameras for Dylan. It's best to check ahead of time.
  21. Bono does an interesting version of it. It's got a darker, more sultry feel to it than many others I've heard. What I love about this song is how most artists who perform it make it their own. Most of the time cover songs don't live up to the original, but with Hallelujah, most versions build upon what Leonard Cohen originally did and keep going.
  22. There are 2.5 star establishments going for $34 a night on Hotwire. I'm still not sure if I can realistically afford this trip; I'm going to try for tickets Wednesday and hope things work out.
  23. Scott Amendola's Myspace page is showing that the Singers will be in the Midwest June 1-9 (with that Chicago date being the only one announced so far) and that they'll be in Europe for about 10 days in July. Those dates in April are part of a Cryptogramophone Records festival. I posted about it earlier in the week but have since found out it's marking Crypto's 10th anniversary. Nels told me that the Singers were "coming east" later this year, but he didn't know how far east. I'm guessing these NYC shows may be the only ones this year on the east coast, so I'm planning to go to that Friday. I'm
  24. I just got that from Netflix today, so I'll be watching it it weekend, too.
  25. I completely agree with this. I live in the Northeast, so of course I want Wilco to play plenty of shows up this way, but how great is this for fans in places like Montana or North Dakota or New Mexico who haven't gotten to see Wilco close to home for a long time? They'll head east as soon as they can, I'm sure. 65days, can you send the private jet upstate for me? I was thinking of flying out of Rochester, but there's a big field not far from my house you can probably land in
