  1. I'm the same way. That trip would've been hell for me if you all didn't end up being so nice. I'm usually pretty lousy at meeting new people. I was still a little reserved this time (except during the show!), but I was still a lot less shy than I usually am.
  2. The Hoodoo Voodoo guitar duel is one of my favorite live Wilco moments. I definitely think Pat is underappreciated as a guitarist. It's so much fun to watch him strut and play. He's a baby Keith Richards in terms of swagger and style.
  3. I'm interested to see what Tanglewood will be like as a rock venue. I loved seeing the symphony there a few summers ago.
  4. I think he came out with my favorite line from the whole weekend: "Oh man, I forgot my Depends. I love watching Wilco and peeing at the same time. It's awesome!"
  5. Wilcoworld is showing that someone named Jennifer O'Connor will be opening at Wilmington and Brooklyn.
  6. Mike kept making blaster noises with Venus's retractable Sharpie on Saturday. I'd never heard him talk before last weekend. When he was coming up the line, all I could think of was that thread here from awhile ago where someone talked about expecting him to sound like Beaker from the Muppets
  7. Saturday night in St. Louis was pretty fantastic. I'm usually a pretty shy and reserved person, but I jumped up and down and sang all night. The encores just kept going and going.
  8. I listened to all the Wilco albums during my drive back from St. Louis the other day, and it's the first I listened to SBS in awhile. I still love it, though I definitely overplayed it last summer. It's one of those albums that marks a very specific moment in my life. There were so many changes happening in my life last summer, and SBS was the soundtrack for all of them. It was nice to revisit the album and all of those memories a year later.
  9. I went pro so I could upload them all. Otherwise, I would've gotten only about half of the first night's pictures uploaded this month.
  10. Here are my pictures from Saturday. Be warned that they're mostly of Nels
  11. I think this might have to become the official Meat smilie I cracked up after the show when he said "Nobody would dance with me, so I had to go all Billy Idol and dance with myself."
  12. I'm looking for one for Wilmington. The scalper prices are ridiculous (my whole trip to St. Louis cost less than some of them are asking!), so I'm hoping someone here can help me out. If you have an extra, I'll buy it, or, if you'd rather, I have an extra for Tanglewood (Section 3, row L) I'll trade. Hopefully somebody can help me out!
  13. "high-pitched dolphin-beckoning shrieking" isn't mean--it's a factual statement. It's cool to go to a show and let loose and have fun. It's less cool when you create so much of a problem that the lead singer has to scold you.
  14. The short version of it is that Nels wants to be my new best friend. I'm taking off again in a few weeks to catch about half of his tour with the Singers. Not only is he not freaked out about the fact that I keep chasing him, he's thrilled that I'm coming. Carla Bozulich's band Evangelista is playing the night before the Singers' show in Montreal, and he's going to be playing with them, too. The Grand Prix is there that weekend, and there's not a hotel below $300 in the city for that night, so I can't afford it, even though I'm coming the next night for the Singers show. When I told him that
  15. But that was karma, since she'd elbowed her way up there!
  16. With the number of crowd shots the photographers were taking near me all three nights, I've already accepted the fact that Wilcoworld will soon have photographic evidence of me screaming my head off and looking like a fool. We were all dancing so much in the front row Saturday night that the rail was shaking! It was a great crowd, though. Aside from that weird little vortex, everybody was considerate and cool.
  17. Every night had a much different vibe, I think, with each show getting stronger. I definitely didn't get tired of the repeats. They mixed the set list up each night enough that it was never predictable. I was thrilled they played Misunderstood all three nights, and I was glad to hear You Are My Face and Hate It Here every night. Even though Walken isn't one of my favorites, it's so much fun live. I was surprised they didn't play more of SBS Thursday, since that was the one-year anniversary of its release.
  18. It was great to get to meet so many VCers over the last few days! Hopefully our paths will cross again soon, and the shows will be as amazing as these last three were. My head is still spinning!
