  1. Probably not. Nels has a lot going on in April with several projects and with the N.C. Singers in the summer, including a tour of the Midwest in June and a few weeks in Europe in July. High Road Touring is showing Jeff as available in April and May for solo shows, though nothing definite has been announced yet. It would be great, but chances are they won't get back into the studio until late this year or early next year. The great thing is with all their solo projects, there's always something Wilco-related to check out. I'd love it if Glenn and Nels did another tour.
  2. Aren't there still reruns on the Style network? I need to watch one for motivation so I can tackle spring cleaning this weekend.
  3. It is--I'm reading it now and weirdly enough read that part this afternoon. Let this be a cautionary tale
  4. I have a '96 Saturn SL2 and I love it. I've had it for seven years, and it's been incredibly reliable. The few times I've had problems with it, I've gotten great customer service and fair prices from the Saturn dealer wherever I've been living. They've made small repairs like patching a tire, topping off my coolant, and changing a headlight for free, and when I needed a new muffler a few years ago, they actually said to me, "You could get a better price somewhere else." I couldn't believe that honesty! I've taken good care of it, and it still looks and runs like a much newer car. It's great
  5. So far I have Rather Ripped and the deluxe editions of Goo and Daydream Nation. Part of me wants to rush out and buy more, but I'm enjoying taking awhile to digest them. I have no idea why it's taken me so long to get into Sonic Youth. They've been a band I've been marginally aware of for years, and one similar to a lot of things I like.
  6. I can't stay awake any longer. I think I have the full-blown flu. Somebody gush excessively about Nels for me while I'm trying to sleep this off
  7. I just woke up from a power nap, so hopefully I should be good to go. I'm fighting some kind of flu bug, though, so I may not make it through the whole show. Common sense is telling me to not even try, but what fun is common sense? If they stream any shows from Australia or New Zeland, I'll probably be at work, so I don't want to miss this one.
  8. Happenstance has changed my pants so many times?
  9. Ashes of American Pants Red-Eyed and Pants Handshake Pants
  10. I've given up trying to explain them. Whenever one of my friends asks, I just say, "Let me make you a mix CD."
  11. I knew they were going on later (everything happens later in New Orleans), but I thought it was 10 CST, not 11.
  12. MMJ is one of those bands I keep meaning to get around to and still haven't. I had some iTunes gift cards from Christmas, but I ended up buying some Sonic Youth instead.
  13. Oh hell, it starts at 11 CST, according to the main page of Wilcoworld. I'm going to be a zombie on Thursday!
  14. The show only starts at 10 central, right? That's going to be a late night. Good thing all I have the next day is a lunchtime faculty meeting. I'm a first year assistant prof and can't vote on anything anyway, so I just have to show up and stay somewhat awake! And Wilcowords are definitely my favorite kind of words
  15. That completely made me crack up. The poor guy. I saw him standing there looking so lost and socially awkward, and I wished someone would hug him. I was expecting him to wear his red pants last night, since he told me he always wears his red pants on Saturday nights. I guess he decided to get spiffed up and went with the tie instead. It makes sense, though--the songs they played aren't ones that really merited his flamboyant rockstar pants. It still would've been cool, though.
  16. I'm jealous that more recent crowds have gotten Nels sitting in on John Doe's set! He went on and off at the Tower at the same time, and he played his ass off despite the fact that there was a very small (but responsive) crowd at that point. I agree with EphSooner--John Doe was great, and I really encourage you not to skip him. If you're curious what he sounds like, you can hear his set from the other night archived on the same part of the NPR website as Wilco's.
  17. I can't believe how awful SNL has gotten. I only watched a few minutes of it last night, but it was far away from funny, which is a shame, because we all know how good it used to be. I thought I wasn't going to be able to stay awake for it last night (I actually fell asleep on the couch for awhile), but when I was still awake at midnight I got up and watched "Hate It Here." I thought it was good but a little stiff; I could tell how nervous they were. I went back to bed then, and got up again when I was still awake near 1. I caught the very end, then rewound my DVR to see "Walken." I thought th
  18. I just found the bonus DVD the other day in a box of things I haven't gotten around to unpacking yet. I thought I'd sent it back to Netflix months ago I first saw parts of it quite awhile ago, before I was really a Wilco fan. I was at a friend's house. I remember drinking gin and tonics, and there was some problem with the DVD, and we ended up not watching the whole thing. It took me too long to finally get around to seeing the whole thing. It's one of those DVDs I really need to own.
  19. I have a ticket for Rochester next week that I don't think I'm going to be able to use. If anybody is interested in it, let me know. I'm willing to sell it for below face value--I just want to see it go to use.
  20. I do this whenever I fly. I'm usually a pretty quiet person and don't like making chit chat, but it really does help me deal with the anxiety of take-off and the first 10 or 15 minutes in the air. I often end up getting a free drink out of it, too. Nothing like one of those little bottles of gin to take the edge off at 30,000 feet
  21. I have a really bad fear of flying, too. I only flew for the first time when I was 22, and I haven't been on a plane since I moved back to the Northeast five years ago. I actually find myself going out of my way to not have to fly, which I'm a little embarrassed to admit. I don't have any advice, but I'm sending you some positive vibes.
  22. I didn't hear SBS at all until it came out--I resisted the urge to listen to the streams or the leaked copies or any of it. The only songs I'd heard were the ones they'd played live the summer before. I instantly loved the album because it just seemed like the exactly right soundtrack for where I was in my life late last spring and summer. Once the summer was over, I really didn't listen to it much until the last few weeks. I spent 8 hours in the car last weekend, and I listened to SBS the whole time and fell in love with it again. I don't understand the haters; this is a seamless album both m
  23. If anybody has a pretty good seat and can't make the rescheduled date, I might be interested in buying your ticket. PM me or email me at maggie_gerrity (at) yahoo.com. Thanks.
  24. I bet Nebraska is, um, tolerable in the summer. I don't mind a road trip.
