He should be in the cabinet... I didn't read this shit....Nader upsets me too much and it is Saturday night so what is the point really, I know what he is saying. Sure there are too many Clinton people being appointed to jobs by the Obama team. Guess what - there are too many Obama people being appointed by the Obama team; too many Chicagoans being appointed, etc. There are just only so many jobs and only so many people who are really qualified to do them on day one of an Obama administration. Some old faces are back on the docket, so fucking what? Look who Bush brought back. People are

I gave this another listen while reading today and fell asleep so I guess that doesn't count as a real listen. My impressions have not changed from what I did hear, some pretty good songs in the making, just not really there... LouieB

I can see that. I was told not to listen to it in the car. Considering it was made in the cold alone I guess listening to it in the cold alone makes sense. LouieB

If you still haven't heard it at this point I will loan it to you or maybe even give it to you. Being old school, I actually bought this album. Now I know I am going to wade into some shark infested water I may not want to wade into here, but after listening to the buzz for nearly a year, I just don't think I get this either. This is a pleasant and interesting album to be sure; I don't want anyone to think I hate it and frankly I need to listen to it a few more times, I'll cop to that, but what's with the extreme overdubbing and high singing and all that? What about a lack of songwriting fo

Well, as long as you protect your hearing you should still be able to hear when you are old..... Helter Skelter is a great song. LouieB

Now writing from home I checked my stacks and have not only Sargasso Sea, but also a disk called Five Years Later that the two of them play on (with a 99 cent sticker on it from some resale shop.) The other Towner I have is called Solstice and I remember liking that quite alot, with Eberhard Weber and Jan Garbarek. ECM had a whole Blue Note type thing going for awhile with different people leading sessions and the same folks playing support on the albums. I remember seeing Diary, but didn't buy it some time in the past. Much of the Oregon crowd is on Paul Winter's Icarus, a super hippie

I had a sister in law who lived in Palatine and moved to Downers Grove. Palatine is a kinda funky old town along the Northwest Highway. Not bad and not that stuck up. LouieB

Frankly I can't believe we are talking about Schaumberg, Naperville or any of the Chicago ex-urbs in this or any other thread. With all due respect to Naperville, it does have a nice river running through it with a cool park adjacent and downtown really isn't all that bad and the older homes in the original part of town are pretty nice and Naper Village is an interesting tourist site. All this could go into the what chicago has to offer thread, except frankly except for Woodfield Maul in Schaumberg, not much else goes on out there (although there is an ultra cool Japanese mega mall in Arl

Gonna have to go home and root around the stacks..I think I have Diary, but honestly not sure. Towner's stuff is all good, mellow mostly. (I am always shocked when I see recent pics of these guys I saw when I was in my 20s. Towner had a big bushy head of dark hair as I remember, I have no idea what he looks like now and not going out to find a pic...) LouieB

Going to see Calexico instead I guess.... LouieB

I had no idea Terry Reid was even still around...... What night is tonight?? LouieB

Cool stuff... People forget that before Blue Note became the home of hard-bop it was a tradtional jazz label. LouieB

Well you are right, not a whole ton, just half a ton . Naperville is not Winnetka or Kennilworth territory and is slightly more diverse than those areas. According to Wikipedia demographics median income for a household in the city was $110,858, and the median income for a family was $123,221, so while it isn't full of millionaires you can't be broke either but there do appear to be a few poor people as well. Taxes alone in DuPage County are fairly daunting at times. The schools are great, but since they are paid for by property taxes you have to pay for them. Median value of a house is u

Much of the Towner material on ECM is very good. Wide Sargasso See with John Abercrombie is one of my old favorites. The beauty of ECM is it was very popular and put out great vinyl records that are still widely available used. That could be me. I saw the original line-up of Oregon at least a couple times at Amazingrace (spelled that way by the way, where I saw tons of other great acts during their years in opperation, still one of my favorite clubs of all time....). They were quite good. I also saw the above mentioned Abercrombie and Towner duet and maybe a solo Towner as well as I re
