Just seeing 10 seconds of the visuals, without the sound, cracked me up.... LouieB

The Trib is reporting something different, but who fucking knows.... Meanwhile this scandal has an up side...it may have saved the Chicago Tribune, which was looking pretty much down for the count a few days ago. LouieB

Mine too. I think I own them all except for Plugged Nickel (which I wished I owned) that is a huge expensive multi disk set. As far as Daniel Johnston, I am thinking of giving mine away. I have never even listened to them. LouieB

Oh yea..one of my favorite rants actually. Chicago clubs have actually started to adhere to time schedules in recent years. They are also playing more early shows and more all ages shows (which sometimes start earlier...), but all venues have a long way to go to making music more friendly for an older demographic. I stilll think that they figure that they sell more drinks to the 20 somethings than they will ever sell to the 40 somethings and up so why not sell all the alcholol you can while you can. LouieB

"Jazz came into its own during the Great Depression." DeRidiculous.....jazz was already a well established musical form prior to the Depression, but it certainly was a major musical force during the Depression if that is what this means. This is one of the reasons I can't stand listening to this guy on Sound Opinions....and don't take his musical criticism very seriously. How did this turn into a live music rant. Not going to join the fray on this, except to say as the old guy here there are plenty of good opportunities (at least in Chicago) to see live music at reasonable hours and with r

It has been speculated for years that Blago wanted to be, if not President, at least Vice President. There was talk that he would appoint himself to Barack's seat, but that obviously wasn't going to happen since there are a couple dozen folks lining up including some rather high profile ones like Jesse Jackson Jr., Jan Shakowsky, Luis Guitierrez, Emil Jones, etc. etc. It would be really tacky to appoint yourself while you are being investigated by the feds and have such a low public rating. But then again, what they got him for was NOT stuff that had been going on for six years, but instea

Calexico, while a very fine band, has put out a rather weak album (yes I have heard the entire thing) and while it is okay, it is hard to believe it is one of the best of the year. If it is, this is a terribly weak year for music. Then again, none of this should be surprising. The music biz is fractured all to hell anyway, so finding good stuff in what is a very large pool is getting increasingly difficult. LouieB

This is exactly why the first Mayor Daley was so brilliant and untouchable as well. The Daleys are masters of powerbrokering and NOT taking money. Sadly Blago is a rank amateur. LouieB
-
Daley had little to do with this (and maybe nothing). If anything Daley can't be happy to see a fellow chicago dem hauled off by the feds. Blago got himself into this trouble by running as a reform candidate and then running a fairly dirty administration. Daley is pretty teflon, but Blago, as a newcomer was not. LouieB

Actually 4% may be closer to correct in reality. I don't know too many people here who dig the guy. Things were so bad in the last election that 10% of those voting, voted for the Green Party rather than the other two parties. No one one can currently stand the guy. LouieB
-
Actually it was 13% but who is counting. I am sure Blago thought supporting the Republic Window folks would help him, but not now. LouieB

Pat Quinn is Lt. Gov and is a good honest guy. Blago has been under investigation for years. The Trib has been particularly on his case for just about everything. The Feds have been crawling up his leg for years and the fact that he has done crazy shit while this is all going on is just amazing. LouieB

His hair may be the only thing real about him (or you could be correct...) This is a sad sad day for IL. LouieB

Thanks.....that was fast.....how on effing earth could the guy be trying to sell the senate seat with him being in the hot seat all these years. this guy must be an idiot. I suspect his prison do will be a bit shorter.... LouieB

Some part of that 21% are those on the right who would dis anything Barack does and the other part (maybe smaller) are those on the left who feel he has sold out already. LouieB

Someone with alot of time to kill this AM can read through the criminal complaint and give us the Readers Digest version. I have actual work to do and don't have the time. LouieB
-
The actual charges against him are out on the web. They appear to be 70 some pages long so I would guess it covers a pretty wide range of things. Big fan of Pat Quinn, I ride the elevator with him alot. I also saw him a few months back walking on the streets of Springfield and told him to keep up the good work. Nice honest guy. LouieB
-
Yea, but this guy is STILL Governor, which Ryan was not. Also this is NOT about appointing a Senator. It is way way way more complex than that. LouieB

Changing the subject (alot), I have to give Coldplay some props here. I am not a fan or anything, but these guys have put out a really catchy single Viva la Vida: it has a nice catchy tune, decent lyrics and a nice sound. Unlike much of what we discuss here, there guys are still trying to get airplay and they have certainly done it. They could put out some shit at this point and they didn't. Well done!!! LouieB

The "governor of Chicago" is also and Governor of IL and he may not be so for too much longer...he was just taken into custody by the FBI this morning. In the meantime state employees can't use their state credit cards which are from BoA. LouieB

I honestly don't see the similarities between Fleet Foxes and Jim James.... LouieB
