Fox has no semblance of truth, whereas NBC still wants to appear truthful. I agree, if he has to go, so be it. They can bring him back as a correspondent at a later time. But as anchorman I think he is shot. LouieB

Will wait for it to come out. Of all the recent Loft side projects this one should be really special. LouieB

Read this last night. Both moving and quirky. Just what you would expect. LouieB

His mic did not seem to be on. Prop indeed. LouieB

Yea, the Big Sur album was a bright spot in long line of uninspired albums. Admittedly I have not listened to every single Jay Farrar album of late, but that one has stood out for me. My last time seeing Son Volt was at the Vic a few years back. I stood on the floor for awhile, went and sat with a friend in the balcony for awhile and while I wasn't going to bail early (I may have though) I couldn't wait for the show to be over. LouieB

All the major news organizations and the cable news might want to consider covering the news. I am so old school I watch the evening news often, but it is just so much fluff it is ridiculous. They can dump Brian Williams, I have no vested interest in him at all. The world is full of real news and most news outlets don't cover shit. LouieB

I like a lot of his recordings. We might just as well stay home and listen to them. He has no stage presence and his songs begin to sound the same after awhile. As I have said before, I enjoy his collaborations with others more than his solo material. LouieB

He wasn't reporting this as part of the news, he was inflating his own personal experience. Will it tank him? I doubt it. Dan Rather didn't check his facts on an actual story. That was a bit different. Once again, not fact checking happens a lot. Rolling Stone ought to have closed down to, but didn't. And the worst fact checkers in the world, Fox News, are the number 1 cable news outlet. Go figure. LouieB

This is not fake news, its kind of a dumb thing he did. Brian Williams is probably the highest profile newsman in the country. If fake news helped implode news organizations then Fox News would have closed down long ago (as admittedly would other news outlets.) LouieB

It may be that the right wing politicians are getting the most mileage out of the anti-vax movement. I'll grant you that. But movements are also made up of people and plenty of people on the left edge of the political spectrum are involved in it. If politics were only public figures this would make sense, but it doesn't. LouieB

The left and right come together on anti-vax. Good to see ignorance and stupidity has no political boundaries sometimes. This may be the biggest issue of the day. Before climate change, bigotry, and war can wipe us out, preventable childhood (or non-childhood) diseases will. LouieB

I'm done with Jay Farrar. Rhett is always fun though. LouieB

Its a funny thing about this. I suppose there will be a bit of a pick up in interest in cabaret/lounge music after this album gets around. Most of this material is so dated it now has a chance of sparking a hipster revival. Most of these songs passed out of currency even before I was old enough to care. Again I recommend the Harry Nilsson record which features a great selection of this type of material and it appears the CD reissue has quite a bit more. Harry really knew how to sing them too. More than this I recommend The Smithsonian collection called American Popular Song, Six Decades

Thanks, I try. LUW is a better station at this point. ZRD still has its moments. CHIRP is making a play now that it has a license, but it has a strict format. LouieB

Oh I completely forgot. I sure hope I am one of the senior citizen's that Dylan graces with a free CD. After all this I want to hear it, but would love to not pay for it. LouieB

Another group out of original ideas I guess. Could be worse. LouieB

Yea, that's right. I wasn't on this Sunday because of the blizzard. I hope to be on February 15 instead. LouieB

Had my Trib actually been delivered today I could have read that review. I hope the AARP magazine shows up today since I am a member. I suppose this entire album will be superior to the Christmas album in some respects. LouieB

Okay I admit it. Some (but only some) of these songs are by Frank Sinatra or done by him shortly after they were written and therefore are covers. The rest are clearly standards. My bad. LouieB

Let's get a couple things straight in anticipation of the new Bob Dylan album. He is not "covering" Frank Sinatra or anyone else. Frank Sinatra didn't write these songs. You can cover Bob Dylan; you cover someone who has done the song first, but most of these songs were done by numerous people. Dylan is doing a standards album, the same as all older rock musicians like Rod Stewart, Annie Lenox, or Linda Ronstadt have done. A great standards album is "A Little Touch of Schmilson in the Night." Buy a copy of that if you don't have one. It's a great album without any pretense of being anyt

It's all true. You think anyone is really that original? I remember when Being There came out and I wish I had written up my thoughts then. There was more homage in there than you could shake a stick at and it was cool as hell. LouieB

It is only in post post WWII era that anyone has goes out of their way to sue anyone over a similar song. In the old days they consciously tired to sound like another song because the first song had sold. Answer songs were common in the early rock era with no one even caring. I am listening to a clip bbop posted from the AV club regarding how close the Petty/Smith songs are. While they are pretty darn close a case could be made that they are not really the SAME song. They are similar for sure, but so are lots of songs. (Actually both songs kinda suck anyway.) And yea, My Sweet Lord is

Entering the relentless self promotion cycle. I am again back on the air (WNUR.org) this Sunday at 5:30 PM central time. This is right before the Super Bowl so turn off the sound on the irritating pre-show and listen to my irritating show instead. I will be playing well known soul and R&B figures this time (not the obscure stuff I try and play most of the time), but even the material will not be the obvious material from the stars of the genre. Check me out while you gulp down your first couple bears and wings or whatever you do. Thanks. Edit - I will be playing folks you know like O

Yea, sure, let's let a one multi-millionaire band sue another multi-millionaire musician. LouieB

Wow, that's really nice. Seriously. LouieB
