Agreed on both counts. I suppose if I were the Pixies I would not want to try and open for the Replacements at that point. Having never seen the Pixies before I was disappointed, but then again Riot Fest was not the best place to see anyone, but The Replacements rose to the occasion. LouieB

I am sure they are fine. I only saw them once, in a rather boring performance prior to the Replacements at Riot Fest. I am sure by themselves they are okay. There is something to be said for calling it a day though. LouieB

I know everyone wants them to continue forever, but for their legacy maybe they should stop now or risk becoming the Pixies. LouieB

Whoa....if only we had all waited a few years. LouieB

I didn't. I waited quite awhile. (Getting a vinyl copy for $15 was an okay incentive.) But compared to the Christmas album it is actually fairly okay. I won't say I will be revisiting it much in the future though. LouieB

I finally got a copy of and listened to the Dylan covers album. (Popped for the vinyl with the CD.) Okay so it isn't so bad really, but it isn't so good either. Every arrangement to every song is basically the same. I do like the pedal steel being used as a string section. Perhaps this will spark some interest in that era of songs sung by people who can really sing those songs. LouieB

Okay, I finally listened to this. Honestly it isn't the worst song ever, but the lyrics could use some serious help. Remember this is the same guy who supported Ronald Reagan. I guess he is still trying to make up for that. And I must be totally out of it, I have no idea what Starbucks has to do with Monstanto. I try not to go to Starbucks anyway (can't drink coffee). You are scaring me. (I'm at work so I can't really check this out.) At some point these guys need to acknowledge that their better years are behind them and mine their back catalogue and keep their old and young fans happy. There is no real need for crappy material out of Neil. He has written great songs, lots of them. These recent efforts are just not worth the time. LouieB

Once again this is the end of an era. Got to see him a time or two. I think two, but unfortunately I only remember one clearly. BB had a great career to say the least. He had success when he was young and never looked back. Of the old school only Buddy Guy remains I think. LouieB

Scratch is a very cool place to go; out in the middle of nowhere in SoIL. LouieB

Jeff and Mavis receiving Sargent Shriver Equal Justice Award

The meal is probably pretty good, though overpriced to be sure. LouieB -
Or Bob Dylan's long lost cousin. LouieB

Jeff and Mavis receiving Sargent Shriver Equal Justice Award

Well it's a benefit for the organization I would assume. Dinners like this are an event for whomever are the patrons of the organization of event so they don't mind spending the dough, not so fans like us can watch Jeff and Mavis get an award. Sometimes those two things do overlap, but not very often. I would imagine you would have to sit through a rather agonizing dinner with lots of speeches to hear them sing a couple numbers on a full stomach. They are certainly deserving though. LouieB -
Viva La Vida by Coldplay. Strangely I always like hearing this when it comes on WXRT, but I really am not a fan of the group. LouieB

So they give them the award but they have to perform? I don't think Kanye had to perform to get his doctorate from the School of the Art Institute. LouieB -
Uh No. LouieB

Even before I read what happened with Zimmerman I was going to say he would eventually end up dead. Today he dodged another bullet, literally. Someday his time will come. LouieB

Erie PA? Interesting. LouieB

So why did the Columbus show get canceled? Just curious. LouieB

Well yea I suppose, plus they are doing replicas so that adds printing costs. I don't deny that its cool, but I have bought so much cool stuff from them over the years. I know the owners so I have talked them down on some of their releases. (I bought the 45 on 45 set for slightly less.) I have hours upon hours of Numero records I have never listened to and more I want to buy. LouieB

If any of these guys really loved their country they would stop acting like total dicks. LouieB

Yea, it was less than that at Laurie's on RSD, but still seemed like a lot. Maybe I can talk them down at Pitchfork. LouieB

When it is done, please post up what the message is. I am curious, but not enough to go find the answer at the end of the tour. LouieB

When it gets to hot (or rains) come visit me and the other vendors in the record tent. If you go you will see that the main two stages are pretty much out in the open (ball fields) and the third stage is in an area with more trees. There are a few trees along the ends of the park where some folks camp out but you will be shocked at what a relatively small park this fest takes place in. Pitchfork is an interesting fest. It bills itself as pretty cutting edge, with lots of newer and hipper groups, but every year they find older acts to feature as headliners. The inclusion this year of Wilco
