  1. Sounded pretty good to me. 'Blue' really recalls 'Country Feedback' mixed with 'E-bow'. The only track that I didn't really dig was 'Everyday is yours to win'. Might get better with time, but it gave me Around the Sun flashbacks.
  2. Link NPR is having a listening party on Tuesday (3/1) and they'll be streaming the album starting Wednesday. Also, 'Chorus and the Ring' is the best song off Reveal.
  3. link Here's a ~10 min long video interview with the band about the new record.
  4. I usually buy mp3, but for certain things like the remastered Beatles or Kraftwerk, I go with the CD. Probably will get the new R.E.M. on cd.
  5. Sounds good so far. The guy who reviewed every R.E.M. song on his blog has some info on the songs not heard in the trailer. Link FYI- Song reviews and Stipe answering fan questions about songs here
  6. This should be pretty good. Lots of videos from this have been floating around online. It will be nice to have a high quality copy. Details at http://www.remdublin.com/ On October 26th, R.E.M. will release R.E.M. LIVE AT THE OLYMPIA, a two-CD set featuring 39 songs from the band's acclaimed 2007 working rehearsals in Dublin, Ireland. "Live At The Olympia" ventures back to the first week in July 2007, when R.E.M. set up camp at the venerable Olympia Theatre in Ireland's capital city and tested new material over five nights before fired-up, capacity crowds comprised of fan club m
  7. I remember my mom saying "Did you hear that Nirvana died?". I was 14 at the time and a friend a mine had died a couple of months earlier. Not a great span of time for me, but before long, I decided that one of these deaths was sad and the other was sad, but mostly stupid. It seemed like MTV had the Nirvana Unplugged on loop for the next week.

  9. I like Father to a Sister of Thought by Pavement with Doug Easley (I think) on pedal steel.
  10. "Beware" I just got this yesterday and I thinks it's pretty strong. Anyone else pick it up? Here's a nice piece about him from the New Yorker: http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2009/01...5fa_fact_sanneh
  11. Bro, I just hope they rattle their dags and get the album released. Cheers.
  12. I would also agree. My favorite versions are the ones from the YHF tour. The first Wilco show I attended had an awesome Sunken Treasure--->Not for the Season transition.
  13. That has occurred to me on more than one occasion.
  14. Helter Skelter- the Beatles Also very good.
  15. This is what Impossible Germany would have sounded like if Jay were still in the band.
  16. Radio Free Europe (Hib-Tone) > Radio Free Europe (Murmur)
  17. Is Mark Spencer the guy who looks like Gerard Depardieu?
  18. He has the same lawyer as Wilco.
  19. R.E.M. on the Colbert Report. Pretty great. http://www.comedycentral.com/colbertreport/index.jhtml
  20. Hi Fi is good, but crazy long compared with most of the catalog. To me, Wilco's IATTBYH is like a cousin to How the West Was Won... Both are great tunes. E-bow is my favorite on the record. Binky the Doormat is probably my favorite song that references Astroglide. I like Accelerate. It's funny to me that I seem to be enjoying the slower songs more. Until the Day is Done is a great example of how much better this album is than recent efforts. Can you imagine how this song would sound with the Around the Sun treatment, awash in keyboards?
  21. I think the last two were Mills/Stipe projects, Around the Sun especially. I remember an interview several years ago where R.E.M. were talking about how they didn't want the band to become a hobby where they get together ever few years for an album. This seems to be exactly what happened after Bill left. The good thing is, all evidence seems to show that they've recognized this and want to communicate again. As far as I'm concerned, the thing for them to do now is to start earnestly working on the next album while they tour.
  22. Sounds like a Jeff Tweedy solo show. You can download a live version of "Hollow Man" from the Florida show here: http://remring.com/index.php?option=com_co...0&Itemid=26
