I like cover too (in an "overly wrought sobbing" kind of way ). I think of it as the version your mom is most likely to fall for. It's purty and girly. Edit: There should be a poll for favorite version on this thread.

That sounds horrific. How sad.

Prairie Home Companion Talented 20s Competition
yermom replied to yermom's topic in Someone Else's Song
I'm bumping this just because it's coming up this evening (5 Central) and maybe some of you are stuck at home tonight and want to tune in! -
As a shirtless, ripped, Christian Bale? I agree whole-heartedly.

NPR's "A Prairie Home Companion" radio show is doing the live broadcast of its "Talented Twenties Talent Competition" tomorrow, Saturday, March 15. They had 1,000 entries and narrowed it down to six finalists. My friends, Pat and Mattie were chosen. They are some of the coolest, nicest people ever so it'd be awesome if you could tune in and listen to them on the show! The winner of the competition will be determined by listener votes cast online between 6 and 6:30 pm Saturday during the broadcast. Please point your internet over to the Prairie Home site and vote if you get a chance. Thanks!

They don't want to miss SNL and they don't have Tivo?

Just now noticed the Drones are opening is Australia. It'd be sweet as all get out if they came with them in the U.S.

I realllly want to talk my partner into making a trip to Minnesota to visit his family in April now!

When I was a kid, my dad used to take me to this small country music venue in OKC. We saw Boxcar Willie play there. Whenever the acts we liked would come on, me and my brother or friends who were with us would pump our arms and do that "whoop, whoop!" sound. I was ten years old.

I actually followed the 28 Day Slater series as they were released a while back. I couldn't wait to find out what happened in the end! It was exciting!

Mr. Barzelay ......I'd totally hit it.
-
I'm totally going to do that! I'll probably post a Myspace bulletin or something and tell all my friends to do it also! My favorite part was when he would send Trolley to the Make-Believe neighborhood. I loved Daniel. Lady Elaine was freaky. She needs to see a dermatologist or something about her face.

I could hardly ever watch the show because I was too freaked out by the intro! That was back before I lived in the sticks, so every time we traveled through a woodsy place, I'd get a little creeped out and think "Darkside!"

Book It! and the Scholastic fairs are too. They do them at my daughter's Montessori school.
-
...and Scholastic book fairs. My parents weren't readers, so I owe my booklove to these things at school and Reading Rainbow at home. I thought Levar was so awesome with his earring. If he said books were cool, I knew they must be.

They're actually disbanded, but the main fella, Eef Barzelay, flys solo beautifully! I made a thread about him recently. Check it out. He's one of my absolute favorite musicians ever.

Holy moly! I had forgotten about bb and pellet guns. I have little families of scars all over my shins from my brothers shooting me with those! Me: "How many times did you pump it?" Brother: "Just a couple." ....the gun is fired Me: "Aw f*ck! Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. You lied!"
-
He's pretty good at surrounding himself with talented musicians and backup vocalists though, right? So, even if he's not what he could be, I imagine the show will still be worth a shot. I'm anxious to see the U.S. dates.

It was easy without any of that business! Skipped school to play this at a corner store (while guzzling Peach Nehi):

Gold cartridge! Easiest game ever!
