Best Thing To Happen To You While Wearing a Wilco Shirt?
yermom replied to SarahC's topic in Just A Fan
They're wearing bows on their heads? You got ninjas for your birthday! Awesome! -
Had my only little private showing at the theater this morning. Must have rolled my eyes every two minutes...it was really something.

Happy birthday!

Is it just me or have Sarah's boobs been photoshop enhanced on that cover?

I've read Choke, Lullaby, and the Stranger Than Fiction collection. His writing style is such that I find his books pretty easy to breeze through, there's a sense of speed in the way that he writes. I like it that way and should probably read him some more. I bought Rant but sold it on eBay before I had the chance to read it (hard up for Christmas money). Apparently, his next one (comes out this month) is about a "gang bang" porno. That should be interesting.

I would like a lawnmower that starts on the first pull and doesn't die until I tell it to. (and a robot maid...I'd feel bad about making another human clean my house every day)

Of all the bands listed under "influences," Wilco isn't one!! WTF?!

My brother, James, died two years ago today. I have never felt so helpless and lost as I did the day I was out shopping and got a call on my cell from another brother asking, "Has Mom called you? You know about James?" He died alone in an early morning car accident and was pinned in the vehicle for some time before a passing driver discovered his body. He loved cars and worked (and played) as a mechanic. When I was a teen, he repaired and painted (pinstripes and all) a little Dodge Colt and gave it to me for my first car. I hadn't asked or anything, he just did it because that's the kind of g

Me too! Apparently, people have constructed them all over the place so I want to move into the woods and clear a spot on my land to put a huuuuuge Monolith. Just because.

My first thought:

USPS provides Priority boxes free of charge, you can order them online and they drop them off right on your doorstep. I've noticed that a lot of things I receive from eBay sellers come via the cheaper shipping services but packed in Priority boxes (turned inside out) which are clearly new. Tsk! Tsk! I've been tempted to do it myself but I'm too paranoid and end up just shipping things right side out and paying for Priority.

That Yo La Tengo thread reminded me that I think "Our Way to Fall" would make a great wedding song.

There are way too many but "Our Way to Fall" and "Little Eyes" are definitely two of them. Edit: A very good thing to do while listening to "Little Eyes" is to read what kids think about the song.

"And I promise to learn to love the way I've learned to fear To unknot all the inhibitions tangled in my hair To let my ego mound in piles around the barber chair And make a graceful exit from my vexed troubled years I've decided I've been invited to my own resort Where knights can leave their armor neatly piled by the door And every woman, child, and man will gather by the shore and study how sea lions swim in cursive" -Sage Francis, Sea Lion

The Clash "Should I Stay or Should I Go" of course!

My thoughts will be with you and your family. Keep your chin up. The hurting never goes away but there's still a lot of beauty in the world. Thursday marks two years since I lost my brother (he was 27) and I still miss him every day.

It may not be terribly highbrow, but we can't forget MC Chris or the whole "nerd core" genre! Who doesn't like to hear a dude rhyme "peacetime mandalorian" with "Star Wars historians," right?

I think is pretty fabulous and you'd have to be crazy not to feel it. It doesn't matter who you are (color, age, sex, socioeconomic posistion, whatever....), this is it:

What's the worst thing you ever ran thru the washer?
yermom replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
When my daughter was somewhere between the ages of one and two, she climbed into the dryer and peed. I didn't even realized she could get the dryer door open, had no idea what prompted her to get in, and was very disappointed when I approached the dryer and saw exactly what she was up to in there. There were no clothes in it but I was worried that everything would come out smelling like pee after that, nothing did (woo hoo!). -
Did we get "Been Caught Stealing" in here yet?
