  1. I started using Myspace so I could read Margaret Cho's blog a while back. I stuck around because I got in touch with old friends I otherwise wouldn't have. Now I use it to share videos, music, and so forth with my friends (and by "friends" I don't just mean people on my list thing...these are people I actually hang out with and have know for a decade). I don't do Facebook much because none of my friends use it but I do agree that it is much cleaner and neater looking. There is some pretty scary stuff on Myspace but I find such things are pretty easy to avoid if you use the site wisely and spar
  2. Billy Childish -I've Got Everything Indeed Sebadoh -Indeed You Are (Billy Lowenstein) Three Mighty Caesars -I've Got Everything Indeed Minutemen -Nothing Indeed New word: "smile"
  3. Lyrics: www.bemydemon.org
  4. Ira Glass is on Letterman tonight. I really like This American Life. When I was pregnant, I would laze around the house listening to NPR and reading all day. I like the new This American Life tv version on Showtime also. Anybody here watched it?
  5. Just a little over $8 each isn't so bad. I pay that much for Dora the Explorer and other such vinyl figures for my preschooler. I think it would be really cool to get these guys and they can go riding in our Ecto 1 car with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to pick up chicks like Strawberry Shortcake and Polly Pocket. Okay, I know what my kiddo is getting for her third b-day!
  6. I actually have that on cassette. I haven't listened to it in a while but I used to like putting "Frogs" on mix tapes. When I hear that song, I think of the movie, "Magnolia."
  7. There are 39,396 tracks in my winamp. None of them have "joking" in the title. I am shocked.
  8. I think that's why I would avoid wearing the band shirt to the show. I guess one could always make their own custom band shirt to wear. The audience could look like the Price is Right crowd! (but with Wilco's picture and it would say "Wilco is the band.")
  9. There's also the whole "krautrock" thing.
  10. Because I picture a burly fellow as your gas station guy, I think this is funny x100. In instant messaging, all kinds of madness ensues (brain rot really) (Ryan is my fella)
  11. You've got to keep a Wilco shirt on at all times...that way when they are all like, "Hey!" you can just point at your shirt and give them a thumbs up and you won't have to turn the Wilco down to have a conversation with them.
  12. I read about Redman's and had to stop to keep from giggling uncontrollably in a public place. I'll have to read the rest in the privacy of my home.
  13. I was in a local shop recently and overheard a country song about "I Want to Check You for Ticks." I think we could pretty much remove mainstream country altogether and be better off for it.
  14. My first (hopefully the first of many) live show was the infamous Springfield Massacre of last October. The whole incident was certainly a low point of the evening but when Jeff tore that guys leg off and handed it to Nels who proceeded to play some jazzy guitar freak out with it, I really felt like I belonged. Actually, even though there was no such bloody madness, it was a completely awesome evening. I'm considering leaving my significant other and our kid behind so I can just follow Wilco all over the world because I want more of what was going around that night. I'm super psyched to try to
  15. The Humps song was the first thing that came to mind but seeing as how it's well spoken for, I'll go with The Frail, "How to Save a Life." I would really appreciate never hearing that again. I particularly wouldn't miss the cheesy way it's clung to by the general population as if it's the most inspirational and insightful* thing ever written when it's really pretty limp and mediocre**. *"Insight is overrated." **My humble opinion.
  16. I'm a big fan of listening to the band you are going to see on the way to the show.
  17. I made pico de gallo to put with chicken last night (the drink is Asti & O.J.): Used a little leftover Pico on my omelette this morn (drink is Italian Hazelnut Chai): Double freakin' yum!
  18. I had to go check youtube for this. That was pretty funny... "Spend time with your kids. So Peyton Manning doesn't."
  19. Now I wish I would have seen this. Alec Baldwin is always great on SNL.
  20. Ian Curtis is hanging out near a mooning Randy Moss on the freezer. TCBY Butterscotch yogurt is in the freezer! PBR is in the fridge (a lot less PBR than we had yesterday thanks to a little get together last night). (I do eat spinach and other nice green things...they hide in the drawers) Very tasty stuff:
  21. I know I've encountered a lot of competition while bidding on Wilco stuff on ebay lately.
  22. That Sam Cooke Portrait is so awesome. Because the thread says "compilation," I'm guessing this counts and it totally deserves a mention: The Complete Stax-Volt Singles (It's on Oink and I recommend it highly!)
