One Sunday Morning (Vinyl Version aka definitve version)
verve13 replied to rhino4evr's topic in Just A Fan
I may be jumping the gun here, maybe still feeling those initial jittery butterflies with the album, but this song could possibly become my favorite Wilco song of all time. Great lyrics, I love how it rolls along so unrushed, beautiful subtle guitar and piano fills. I love that they did an extended song like this and agree that the vinyl is the defenitive version. This song in a way reminds me of that brief quiet part at the end of You Are My Face. -
Nels Cline Singers "Initiate" takes the top spot for me this year. Followed by Deerhunter and Beach House. After that is a bunch of John Zorn releases, Jack Rose, Dungen.

As a follow up to my earlier post about my set arriving damaged. I received a reply back from kungfu nation and they emailed me a postage paid label and said drop it in the mail, email us when it is mailed and we will ship back a new copy. Just wanted to mention the very positive experience I had with the store.

Anybody else have their set arrive damaged? Just opened my package that arrived today and the front is dented in / torn right through 'Television' through 'Chicago'. I didn't break the seal and just emailed the Kung Fun Nation folks to find out what I'm supposed to do. I guess its not a huge deal but after paying $75 and the UPS shipping I would expect this thing in mint condition. Was really looking forward to diving into this release tonight. Hopefully there is an easy fix.

Nice work! Are you by chance doing a poster for the Pittsburgh show? If so can we get a sneak peak?

Thanks for the heads up on this. Great news that made my day! Price is a bit high but for 4 180g lp's and one of my top 5 favorite live albums of all time I have to make it happen.

I believe the electronic music into on the 2006 tour was by Isao Tomita.

They are one of, if not the, favorite band of mine to come out in the past couple of years. Frontman Andy Cabic is good friends with Devendra Banhart and they each play on each others records. The first two Vetiver full legnths are amazing albums and if you like the covers record I reccomend grabbing those. I have enjoyed the covers album and ep this year and it opened me up to some old obscure artists (or at least old albums by artists I already listened to). I only saw them once opening for Gary Louris but they were great live and did a good job backing Louris. Can't wait for the new al

Surely I didn't just read 8 pages of posts and not see one mention of Cat Power's 'Jukebox'? That one is up there for me this year. I know its a covers album and all but still. Gary Louris and Dead Meadow were two others way up there for me that I don't think I saw mentioned. Nice to see Vetiver's 'Thing Of The Past' get mention. Again, its a cover album but what a great selection of tunes and great execution by Andy Cabic and company. Spiritualized's 'Songs in A and E' is at my #1 spot right now but may be outed by the Brightblack Morning Light album that comes out in September. Fle

fyi - the Pittsburgh show for tonight has been cancelled. Just happened to check out the Joker Productions web site and saw it then called the venue. They said he was sick and have rescheduled for August. Not sure if this affects any other dates but you may want to check tomorrow before heading to the venue.

I like Can and Faust but Agitation Free is my favorite band of that type of music. Check out Malesch, 2nd, or Live at the Cliffs of River Rhein.

Not a regular here, but I figured I would chime in for some of the questions. I'll be at the show too. I'm a Duquesne grad (2000). There are some hotels that are within walking distance (closer to the Mellon Arena) but you'll probably pay a little bit more because you are in town. If you're coming from Buffalo, I reckon you'll be coming down I-79. About 20-30 minutes north of the city is the Wexford exit. There is a cheap Econo Lodge or something there. There are a bunch of bars within walking distance from the Palumbo. Most of them are not your typical club/dance place. Just a sm
