to me this description defines bandwagon fans: (2) people that come and go based on how well the team is playing yes, the Hawks on TV has sprouted more fans, I dont think that is a bad thing. I believe the Hawks franchise is sort of saving the NHL. yes, the NHL needs more fans. But whenever you get a lot of fans, there is always a percentage of bandwagon fans, people who only show up because the team is winning or that the arena has become the 'place to be.' I didnt say bandwagon fans are a negative thing. They drive up attendance, spend money on merchandise, etc...NHL needs bandwagon fa

Sorry chicago people, but there are a lot of bandwagon fans in that town. of course you have your loyal fans but since the Hawks got new management, won some games, obtained new young talent, and GOT ON LOCAL TV, there is a lot more excitement so yes there are more fans/bandwagoners. I dont live there but i work in and around Chicago. I've seen a lot more Hawks hats and shirts/jerseys being worn than i used to see 5 years ago.

Great series San Jose! Perhaps the playoff choke monkey is off their backs. They are playing well-rounded hockey. Whoever they get in the semis, CHI or VAN, will be a great matchup!

oh wow!! so excited. this is one the main "Alt-Country" records from the 90s. i will be spinning this one.

The band actually appeared in a movie, Chelsea Walls. Playing music in a bar lounge. Fantastic soundtrack.

Sharks are quieting their critics

I'm enjoying the Western playoffs. I just like the teams better. they are more exciting to watch. I grew up a Bruins fan and are liking their current run but that team isnt that exciting to watch. Does it get any better than CHI vs VAN, DET vs SJ? i guess VAN vs SJ would be kick ass. Kane, Toews, Keith, Burrows, Kesler, Sedins, Luongo, Samuelsson, Pavelski, Marleau, Thornton, Boyle, Heatley, Datsyuk= fun to watch Crosby, Malkin, Cammalleri, Halak=ok to watch West has more Excitement!

if these guys keep up their dominance, i believe they will, it will be hard to annoint a Cy Young. Ubaldo Jimenez Roy Halladay Tim Lincecum Chris Carpenter Adam Wainwright

I love Joey P! Teams have been targeting him more this year and he is still playing well.
-
i have to tout my homestate boy JOE PAVELSKI, the Plover Prince!!! what a night! this kid is raising his game. He is the only reason I like this team. Go Joey P!

YEah BUCKS!!!! win in ATL, closes the door on the Hawks, coming back to Milwaukee, Fear the Deer!!!

Ovechkin is a different style of hockey player, not in the physical or talented sense, in the Cocky/Arrogant/Talkative way. Unlike most hockey players, this guy says a lot to media. He ate his words and the Caps looked bad. Halak was the dominate figure. Great series Habs. Yes, Im excited for 'Hawks and 'Nucks. Woot!!! This will be a burner, rough rematch, but i see the Sedins, Burrows, Kesler, taking down Niemi and Huet.

best wishes to Bob Uecker. He has been involved in my Brewer life since it started. I love putting on the radio, sit on the porch, have a beer(s), and listen to Uecker call games.

if the red sox dont get Pujols, they will have a chance at Prince Fielder. He is looking to strike a big contract, similar to Howard. Brewers can't afford it nor should they. He could be Mo Vaughn No.2 only way better.

The Flaming Lips - Dark Side of the Moon
Smokestack Joe replied to okp greg's topic in Someone Else's Song
I finally got to see the Lips perform live last week in Milwaukee. They played Eclipse near the end of the set. I thought it sorta of slowed the show down but i still enjoyed the song performance. -
i'm just going to give my guy a little pub here. Ryan Braun is off to an awesome start. .417 avg, 5 hr, 18 rbi, 4 sb. this kid is a legitimate contender for Triple Crown. doubtful it will happen with Pujols, Ramirez in the NL but damn, Brauny is really playing some good ball. -- Brewers sweep Pirates scoring 36 runs to Pirates 1. I know it is the Pirates and they aren't good but that is impressive.

wow, wilco and nonesuch did a great job on packaging/artwork, etc....looks great, now for a listen.

yeah wow, Kings really stepped in and turned it up. didnt see them much during the regular season, impressive. the place was packed and loud too.

too much east coast bias going on here. One mention of Ubaldo Jimenez's no-hitter. The scary thing about his no-hitter is that he wasnt even throwing his best stuff. 6 walks, rough first 5 innings.. but he has 3 devasting pitches so i wasnt surprised he achieved a no-hitter, but i was surprised he did it against Atlanta, a team that looks real good this year. Jimenez will probably get another no-hitter before his career is over. He's becoming one of the better pitchers in the NL.

The Avs' are a true sleeper team. Lots of young talent and maybe one of the hotter goaltenders in Craig Anderson right now in playoffs. But this is what the Sharks do in the playoffs. They let "lesser" teams compete with them. Im not saying that the Sharks should easily skate by the Aves but they are a more talented team but chokers in playoffs. Still a lot of series left but i would not be surprised in the least if the Aves win the series. I've watched part of all Canucks vs Kings series and i must say that this is a great series so far. 1-1 after 1st period in game 3. lots of big hits, tig

yeah that assist he had was pretty sweet. bad defense on the play. the kid is good but im not a big fan. i dont dislike him, just not a fan. -- btw, im glad that your first post on ViaChicago was about hockey.

im happy for the cubs!

Great game Canucks and Kings. Capitals didnt look too good while I thought the Sabres really looked sharp.

Thank you Josh Johnson.

when i saw GS at the Metro in 1998, i was hoping for Radio King because back then, Gary and Jeff were my musical heroes. They played it, just the two of them, upfront on the stage, to me, it was magical and still, one of my all-time favorite concert moments.
