  1. Just bands, right? No solo artists? Maybe it's my own personal bias or lack of historical perspective, but Pink Floyd? I know they were big, but I never think of them in the same manner as The Beatles, Stones, or even Zeppelin. Again, this is probably my own personal bias. How about The Clash? Do they fit into this at all? Late 70's and early 80's, they were the only band that mattered - or something like that. The Smiths? They occupied the same period as R.E.M and U2's early dominance (83 - 87) and were just as good (in my opinion, better).

  3. My head is spinning and my legs are weak Goose step dancing, can't hear myself speak Hope in the eyes of the ugly girls That settle for the lies of the last chancers When slow motion drunks pick wallflower dancers You come here looking for the ride to glory Go back home with a hard luck story
  4. I can't lie on this bed anymore it burns my skin You can take the truthful things you've said to me And put them on the head of a pin
  5. They were just discussing this rumor on WFAN: Hideki Matsui to SF Giants
  6. Snow No snow now, but here's the last good one:
  7. It's time to tell the truth These things have to be faced My fuse is burning out And all that powder's gone to waste Don't think for a moment dear that we'll ever be through I'll build a bonfire of my dreams And burn a broken effigy of me and you No one ever told young Declan to let it go. He's got a lot of lyrics about obsessive love, and I seem to like them all.
  8. Love is always scarpering or cowering or fawning You drink yourself insensitive and hate yourself in the morning
  9. I also like stealing a seat on the subway from elderly people and pregnant women. That's always good fun. You should see the looks on their faces.
  10. For the record, I think the New York Yankees are one of the few truly good things in this world. The Red Sox? On the list of bad things, they rank near cancer, Al Qaeda, and that Battlefield Earth movie. It's true. Look it up.
  11. It's going to take a lot of self-restraint (which I have none of) to not add about 50 posts to this thread. Here's another: Almost blue Almost doing things we used to do There's a girl here and she's almost you
  12. Why can't a man stand alone? Must he be burdened by all that he's taught to consider his own? His skin and his station, his kin and his crown, his flag and his nation They just weigh him down You know pride is a sin that we tend to forgive But it gets hard to live When you don't have the love in her heart to begin with Why can't a man stand alone? When beauty meets ignorance they shout in the street Repeating their offer to each girl they meet
  13. I think this is an obvious one. I could have included the entire lyrics, but I limited myself to the highlights: History repeats the old conceits The glib replies the same defeats Keep your finger on important issues With crocodile tears and a pocketful of tissues Charged with insults and flattery Her body moves with malice Do you have to be so cruel to be callous My hands were clammy and cunning She's been suitably stunning But I know theres not a hope in Hades All the laddies cat call and wolf whistle So-called gentlemen and ladies Dog fight like rose and thistle I've got a feeling I
  14. I never saw Ray, but supposedly this is spoofing a scene from that movie.
  15. Right on. When I saw the thread title, I thought Goodfellas, but I was afraid to post this out of fear of being thought a lunatic. I'm seriously glad I'm not the only one.
  16. It could be stupid, but I now want to see this movie Heads up: they say "sh*t" and talk about "reefer" in the clip. Funny clip, but does that makes it NSFW?
  17. I'm relieved that I'm not the only one who associates this movie with Christmas. The scene where Henry brings the tree home. The party at the bar after the Lufthansa heist - Jimmy on the fur coat: "Bring. It. Back." Darlene Love, the Ronettes, and the Drifters Xmas songs on the soundtrack. I always break out this DVD once during the holiday season just for these scenes. I know this is weird, but I do it. I voted Charlie Brown, but it was close with Rudolph.

  19. Yeah, I know. There were two potential deals: 1) the Ellsbury deal 2) the Lester/Crisp deal. The WFAN reporter is saying Minnesota favors the Lester/Crisp deal.
  20. Today is the day the Chris Dodd express starts picking up steam.
