  1. I thought some people on this forum might be interested to know that the Old Town School of Folk Music is offering a class called "Jeff Tweedy Ensemble" starting next week. There are still some openings in the Saturday session. So if you play an instrument, and want to play some of Jeff's music with a group of fellow fans, check it out! http://oldtownschool.org/classes/register/...php?course=3661 The class is taught by Bob Goins, who taught the school's Wilco Ensemble for years. He rocks and really likes to get into the arrangements of the songs. Fun times.
  2. Yeah, I caught that too! XRT freaks me out some times. Like when I was taking the David Bowie class with Bob, we'd learn a Bowie song, then I'd get in the car and it would come on XRT. .. .
  3. Possibly . . . I'll have to ask them. Anyway, I don't think they are on Via Chicago. Only a few members of our group have been known to post on this board actually, and those of us who do are pretty sporadic about it. Also, we tend to chat with Jeff more about music in general and all kinds of random stuff rather than trying to get info on the new album or tour dates and such. Of course, it's also possible that we know all sorts of inside information but don't want to risk revealing anything that Jeff and Sue wouldn't want us to reveal. You never know. There's a reason the Old Town Sch
  4. I added more photos to that gallery, as did tjr.
  5. Here are a few . . . . http://gallery.me.com/smfolk#100010
  6. I think he meant EVER. It must have been with the band since we were working from a full band recording to learn the song. Oddly enough, we ended up playing it for him (two guitars, bass, violin, drummer, and piano and a member of our group on vocals). We kept thinking he'd join in, but instead he just listened and looked like he was studying the song trying to piece it back together. He then joked about wondering why he'd only played that song live the one time. Oh, and there had been some confusion about whether our song choice was "I'll Fight" or "Let's Fight." We didn't realize unt
  7. Yep, Hey Chicken was really fun! I'm also hoping we'll see Jeff bring "Let's Fight" back into the rotation in the future. Great song that he said he'd only played live once before.
  8. I heard it was something like, I've got summer teeth. Some are this way, some are that way. (As in crooked.) Both of those are great albums.
  9. Hmmm, how annoyed to be seems to depend on the circumstances of the previous ditching incident. Your friend might just have a different idea about concert behavior. Some people want to stick with friends. Some just focus on the show, wandering a bit then reconnecting after. If that's the case, your friend might not have intended any slight and it could just be a misunderstanding. Of course, it also depends a lot on whether it's GA or assigned seating. If it was GA, couldn't you just join your friend in front? If it's assigned seats, how did your friend come by this front row spot? Also, wh
  10. I saw Delta Spirit at the Double Door in Chicago on Feb. 14 and they were really fun!
  11. Nice. Thanks! We're hoping to play this with Jeff at an upcoming living room show and our arrangement will probably involve at least one guitar in this tuning, and at least one in standard tuning. I'm totally digging this song! The trick will be staying with Jeff if he doesn't do it exactly the way it is on the recording we've heard. We've got to be ready to follow if he changes anything up I guess. Rock.
  12. Is that same one I remember from two years ago? That was a very cool guitar! And watching Bob and Jeff talk guitars and compare their beat up teles was classic too. Can't wait for this year! Passenger, care to add some pedal steel to our rendition of Let's Fight for the upcoming living room show?
  13. Wow, this looks awesome! Now I'm really getting excited for the living room show I'm attending in March! We've started rehearsing the songs we hope to play with Jeff. Can hardly wait! Thanks for sharing!
  14. Awesome. That's so gonna rock. Oh and I also asked Bobby the song-figurin'-out-Ninja about tab for Let's Fight. So I'm sure he can figure it out if we get stuck. Just a matter of him getting around to it. Plus, his sheets are always spot on!
  15. Thanks dude. Hey, you joining up with the "power chords" for the big event in march? I hope to get a chance to rock out with you!
  16. Has anyone worked out the chords for Let's Fight? I'm trying to work out the piano bit, and got about as far as the verse bits (mostly Am and G stuff I think), but can't quite work out what's going on under the chorus bit. ("tonight let's fight, let's get this right, etc.") Any tips?
  17. Has anyone worked out chords or tab for Secret of the Sea? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  18. I totally agree. If Jay had not left the band, there would be no more Wilco. Don't know whether Jeff would be operating solo, or with a new band, but it seems to me there was simply no way for the band to continue to exist with Jay in it. I'm one who loves YHFT, but Summerteeth is one of my least favorite albums. (That doesn't mean I don't like it, just don't like it as much as the others.) I really like the direction the band has taken since YHFT and I love the current lineup. To me, it seems like these guys are having a lot of fun together, collaborate well, and get along. There's a joyf
  19. Totally. I see Nels as a Dutch or German tech geek for sure. My friend Jared looks exactly like Glenn. Jared is a graphic designer. Hmmm . . . come to think of it, Jared does have and identical twin I've never met . . . I agree that Pat would be some sort of goofy software developer.
  20. yeah, should be a blast. but it's pretty snowy here today. I hope people can still get there tonight!
  21. If you're in Chicago this weekend, and itching to see some Wilco-related live music, come out for a live performance of the entire Anodyne album. Several student ensembles from the Old Town School of Folk Music will be performing the tunes they've been working on for the past couple of months. It kicks off with Anodyne at 6 p.m. (Too early, I know .. . but the bar does serve food.) So why drop in? 1. There's no cover! 2. Live Wilco-related tunes! 3. It's an all-around good time with some friendly fellow Wilco fans. Friday, December 19, 6 pm - 10 pm Hidden Cove Lounge, 5336 N Lincoln,
