Alright so I got the chords down, but does anybody know the gist of the slide guitar? I'm thinking it's in open G capo on 1 but I could be way off base. Much appreciation, yo.

I third the Geoff Emerick book, it's quite interesting, but not necessarily the best place to start.

"Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every

"Is that a raincoat you're wearing?" "Why yes it is!"

I wish I could have seen them in like '97. I wish they would tour as just Isaac, Eric and Jeremiah. That would be quite the kick ass stuff. Is it sad that I'm nostalgic for their old stuff and like it much more than their newer stuff? I would have been 10 back then...

Whats your favorite "fuck you" song?

Most definately. -
So to stray a little away from the new album, does anyone know what gear they use? Specifically Britt's guitars and effects. I know he has a Guild something or other, a Telecaster and some sort of Gibson ES something. As you can tell I'm not too familiar with their gear. But any info would help (I really want to know how he does the crazy solos in songs like Beast and Dragon Adored).

anybody wanna PM me it?

That's what the 'Gum said would happen, but I loved it the first time I heard it.

New song: Stereogum Boy oh boy is it good.

Nice one you got now. I just bought New Moon a few hours ago.

I would say see it anyway. It made me hate them (for the most part) as people, especially the Dandy Warhols. But there is a lot of great music in it.

I like them, you like them. Discuss.

Well I just got back from seeing him live and I've got to say that he puts on a hell of a show. Very good show and he even brought out Gililan Welch and David Rawlings for the second half. Very good and I don't care what other people say about him, I thoroughly enjoy his musc. Even some of the older stuff.

I'm partial to the ES 355. I have always loved and coveted those guitars. I would go with that one.

I completely agree with the person above me. Tele is where I would go. In fact I'm debating between either a Tele or a Casino myself.
-
In the new paste magazine article they mentioned the Replacements a bunch (no surprise, hunh). Anyway, I just wanted to bump this thread.
-
You more of a Telephono kinda person?
-
Yeah that title is a little out there, but I like the way the cover looks. And actually, they could call the new record: Poop Is Awesome and as long as it was new music from Spoon I would not care.
-
Anybody else really really looking forward to the new record? Ga ga ga ga ga. Wonderful.
-
Yeah that's been the same with me and I'm hoping to expand a little bit. Thanks for the info.

Alright so I just finished reading the Greg Kot book and at one point towards the very end he is talking about how Jeff had this computer program that would make noise when you drew squiggley lines on the screen. It's on page 233. Anyway, does anyone know what this program is or of a similar one?

OK, I tried searching for a thread on this already but didn't find the right thing, if it exists already, analogman will point me in the right direction, I'm sure. Anyway, what do you think is the best version of Misunderstood? You could go in a couple different routes but I'm thinking the one with the most "nothing"s or screamed the hardest. You decide.
