And now... Leonard Cohen. Screw you, 2016.

Though I sensed this was coming, based on Cohen's recent comments, that doesn't diminish the feeling of sadness one bit. -
I don't listen to a lot of podcasts, but I do enjoy these ones: WTF with Marc Maron - He has a lot of great guests and some really insightful conversations. Song Exploder - Artists breakdown the details of a specific song they've written. Sodajerker - Another podcast that deals with songwriters discussing their work.

I love that the Nobel people are saying how arrogant it is of Dylan not to acknowledge the award. Ironically they come off as arrogant for being all: hey, why won't you acknowledge us? We gave you the greatest award possible, don't you know everyone wants to win this? It must be really throwing them for a loop.

It drew me in over the course of the first 6 episodes. Looking forward to see how the rest of the season pans out. I'm now halfway through season 3. I didn't realize the next season is the last. That's probably a good thing I suppose.

Chapters cover everyone from Gene Clark to The Ramones and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. I'm a fan of the artists covered so this has been an interesting read.

I'm about 2/3 of the way through Season 2 of "Rectify" and loving it so far.

First impression, it is not as immediately engaging melodically or lyrically as her last, but on second listen some of these songs are starting to worm their way into my head. p.s. That Kamasi record is great indeed. Need to pull that one out this week.

Had some friends over to watch the live broadcast on Saturday night. We danced and cheered just like we were at the concert. I hadn't listened to the Hip all that much over the past few years, watching the show reminded me how much I love their music and how its been a big part of my life for the past few decades. I've subsequently pulled out all my Hip CDs and have been revisiting their music over the past week. It's really stirring up some emotions listening to these songs. Nice song list remphish1! Some of My favourite Hip songs (first 4 in order, the rest random): Ahead by a Century

It would be so great if this was a Nilsson inspired Wilco record.

Thanks so much for sharing that info Atticus. I'm definitely going to give those a try.

Thanks for the flanger tip, sounds like something I will dig. Would love to try out some of your personal settings if you have the time to jot those down. I've only had the Mobius a short time, so suggestions from someone that has spent time with it is greatly appreciated. You liking the Orange Box phaser better than the one on the Mobius? I have an old MXR phase 100 that I ousted due to space limitations. The Mobius covers that ground for me, and gets me close to the classic phase 90 sound. Yeah, the Timmy does get a lot of raves. I still haven't tried one out, afraid I will end up having

Yeah, the expression pedal creates a whole host of new possibilities. I've only had it for a week or two, still experimenting. So far I've used it in the wah, tremolo and vibe modes to great effect. I'm getting some nice, useful sounds from the Caverns. I particularly like the plate reverb. The delay side gives up to a second in delay time; it's quite versatile and sounds great. Also pairs well with the reverb. First time I plugged this in, it inspired a new song within 5 minutes which is always a good sign. I've been curious about the JHS The Crayon. How are you liking it? Your boards l

Thanks Fritz. It was fun to put together. Some of these pedals haven't seen the light of day in a long time, and a handful didn't make the cut. The Mobius made a few pedals redundant, not that I have room for anymore. If I ever need to free up space in the future, the Octave pedal is far from essential and would probably get the cut.

I'm not usually a guy that uses a lot of pedals, but I needed to put together something with a wider sonic pallet for a new band I'm playing in. Once I pulled out all the pedals I was going to use, I realized I was going to need a pedalboard; having pedals loosely strewn all over the place just wasn't going to work. I looked at various commercially available boards before deciding to save some money and build my own. I started with an IKEA Hejne shelf and took it from there. Finished it off a few weeks ago. Used it at band practice a few days later, man what a difference having an organized bo

also been spinning lots of Prince.

I never got why a guy with 1000s of songs in the can decided to resort to adding Joan Osbourne, Sheryl Crow, and even Foo Fighters covers on record. It's one thing to do a cover live, heck I remember thinking how cool it was that he performed a bit of Joni Mitchell's A Case of You during the Purple Rain era, but yeah, a Prince record shouldn't have covers. I feel the same way about Dylan which is probably why I still haven't listened to his last record.

My fandom sort of mirrors yours in ways Sir Stewart... I think the video for 1999 was my introduction to Prince. I was 12 and into bands like Led Zeppelin, The Who and Iron Maiden, so Prince didn't really register with me just yet. Then Purple Rain came out, and I heard Let's Go Crazy, and I couldn't deny it, the dude could play guitar. Prince was now on my radar, but not enough for me to buy any albums yet. I was still too limited in my listening to take the chance. I'm not sure what happened, but being in a band and expanding my musical horizons seemed to finally lead me to finally checkin

As a one-time Prince obsessive this one hits hard. He was such a huge influence on me as a musician, especially in my formative years. There are definitely a handful of funky, Prince inspired songs sitting on 4 and 8 track cassettes somewhere in my house.

One of my all-time favorite country artists. He was making great music right to the end, which is a rare thing indeed.

I do love that D'Angelo song. I'd throw a little love towards Sexual Healing too. Another great one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytzt72jPtBI Not a straight up soul song, but Purple Rain is one of the all time greats.

Oh, looks quite promising. I wonder when NPR stopped allowing people from Canada to stream their content. Oh well, found a stream on CBC. Two songs in now. Digging the retro country vibe. Taps that '60s, early '70s country sound I dig.
