  1. i had no idea this existed and i thought i had everything Wilco has released on vinyl. Sometimes it good to be late to the party, i just purchased a sealed copy on ebay for 9 bucks. After reading this thread i wonder if the signed poster offer is still on the table?
  2. I couldn't agree more! I remember on the L&T tour everything about his performance was great. A fellow fan ask me at the gig what my favorite Dylan recorded was and when I said Love & Theft he had no idea what I was talking about. I have always respected Dylan's work but from L&T on I have listened for entertainment. Although the last time I saw him during the mark Knopfler tour he was not very entertaining for me. But then again he was playing a shitty corporate venue and I was in the balcony.
  3. so i didn't know anything about this Daft Punk song wilco played, but after giving it a few listens i thought the first bit of lyrics in this tune were very apropos to the Xu Bing exhibit showing at Mass MOCA. I wonder if Jeff and the boys had a deeper influence and were giving a nod to the artist playing this tune, other then it's popularity with pop culture.
  4. That is a amazing photograph! What kind of lens was that?
  5. Complaints about inconsiderate people talking during the gig, chairs and blankets in Joe's field, etc. To me, if in fact there were a bunch of people sleeping at this gig that takes the cake! I mean, if you were tired why not just go back to your room shower and crash? Leave the spot for someone that really cared about seeing the show. Or if you did care about seeing the show but were to tired to stay focused in a dark room. Be nice and offer it to someone in the lobby that were hoping to get in. Sleeping in the first few rows where the band could see is the most disrespectful thing i could
  6. Damn! i would have love to have your seat for that YLT film. By the time i got to the Hunter center from Joe's field it was full. As for comedy, we saw Al Madrigal during his morning set, and got a great seat around the third row directly behind the eleven year old kid in the audience, Ronan and his mom Patty. Who were the focus of Al's routine. I missed SS comedy in 2011, but saw Kristen Schaal the first year. And with Al's great set this year i will make it a point to not miss a comedy set again. the link below is a mp3 file from sendspace of Al's Saturday morning set that i recorded
  7. My wife and myself commented during the heat on Sunday that it would be cool if there was a tube ride in the canal that was feasible. Assuming it was relatively clean and had some depth. It reminds me of "lazy rivers" at water parks. 2 bucks for a tube ride from one end of Mass MOCA to joe's field?! Shit i would pack a swim suit just for the opportunity! Every thing is different at Solid Sound then other festivals.
  8. i agree for comfort, but the cover needs to be at the top of the structures. The court yard architecture and feel is very inviting visually. i would sacrifice myself with the elements, then sacrifice the ambiance. They only have a hand full of shows there anyway. To scar that space with a low level tent or sail through out the weekend would be a sin.
  9. If the Blisters or any of the other bands on the bill did some Wilco covers that would be cool.
  10. I saw BOC play back in 1981 and DFTR kicked major ass live. I guess a 30 something year old playing a song about fearing the reaper is more inspired and fearless then a 60 something year old playing a song about fearing a reaper.
  11. So i had my mother in law go down to KC Westport coffee shop Oddly Correct to pick up some of the SS candy bars, and i have to report she shipped 5 candy bars to me and all of them arrived here in Texas unmelted and unbroken. BTW it's hotter then Hell here today! I can see where it could be a major issue for them sending the bars out in mass. But if we know the risk and still want to take take a chance they should give that option. BTW i got five bars not because i am a chocaholic, but because there are five Wilco fans in my house that are also Willy Wonka fans.
  12. There is one cover show i saw from one of my favorite bands "Of Montreal" New Years eve 2008 that was pretty cool to watch. But half way through i was hoping for some originals as the novelty wore off. And there were some very interesting covers played that night as you can see from the set list and hear from my recording that evening on the link below. During the encore they broke out some originals and the show went to a whole other level for me. Covers are cool in low dosages but when i see a quality band such as Wilco that has a bunch of great original songs then that's what i want to
  13. Just curious, but why is there so many requests for covers. I would rather have the band play a new spin on a old song from their catalogue then hear the band do a cover. Unless the cover is not a cover but their spin on someone else's song. I guess i'm just not a big fan of what amounts to a full band version of karaoke.
  14. The video shows hair nest and gloves. But both brothers looked like hipsters, and the ones i know never bath.
  15. Not that 10 bucks is a lot of money, but it is a bit steep for a candy bar. Then i saw what all goes into the production of these bars and it all made sense. http://vimeo.com/13664547
  16. i'm glad i sent my mother in law down the the KC vender to buy the bars for me and my four other family members! But I will be glad to not be there to see the shock on her face when the clerk tells a 70 year old woman 5 candy bars are 45 bucks! I love my mother in law and she will be rewarded for her efforts!
  17. baller May 28, 2006 Urban Word of the Day A thug that has "made it" to the big time. Originally refered ball players that made it out of the streets to make millions as a pro ball player, but now is used to describe any thug that is living large. Pain is a part of the game when you're a baller.
  18. I have had fragil vinyl records, fine crystal, stained glass windows and assortment of other breakables sent to my house in the past and all of them have survived unscathed. Bubble wrap works wonders Wilco!
  19. I just got a email from the KC supplier "Oddly Correct" after inquiring about them shipping me some of their stock SS candy bars. They said they are not available for on line mail order sales. I'm wondering if anyone has found one of the locations willing to ship some stock. Or are all the locations under obligation to sell in house only? I'm sending my mother in law down to Westport's Oddly Correct to pick up some of the bars. She was happy to do it, but she said she will probably be the one at the store that is not a beatnik.
  20. Thursday would have been a perfect kick off to the event but oh well. My wife who is a pretty good chef would have loved to do this but i am pretty sure she's going to give it the kabosh because of the timing. Now the early dinner that takes place what MASS MoCA describes as a beautiful unrenovated 19th-century mill building, overlooking the Hoosac River near the mainstage where Wilco plays. That would be cool if they let you hang out there to watch the gig.
  21. It does sound amazing except for it's Saturday night. I will be to tired and dirty after a all day festival to enjoy it like it is meant to be enjoyed. I wish they had it on Thursday night instead.
