  1. Besides Jeff's charity work The Autumn Defense have a short tour opening for Nick Lowe. To bad for me it's a mid week gig 90 miles away.
  2. i ment easier because, promoting is getting the word out. The more people are talking about a event, the more people know about the event = the more chance of a sell out. And that is the bottom line of any promoter.
  3. i don't think a promoter would care who or when someone was promoting their event as long as the papers have been signed and it's a go. Seems it would make their job a bit easier no matter before a official announcement or not.
  4. For the 'B" side, rework HMD and you have your collectors edition 45.
  5. cool song but the hi fi is a bit lacking. Spencer, you should sneak into the loft when dads on tour and re recored it. Press it to some wax in limited numbers and make me buy it!
  6. Wow! this show is 2 days after i was introduced to the band seeing them live in Dallas.
  7. i would consider the super bowl over the living room show if i got the chance to pick a play like tweedy lets you pick a song.
  8. Muse would be a great act for currant standards. As for 70's/80's leftover bands... Why the hell hasn't AC/DC ever played "The Bowl". Every team in the league plays them at least once over the PA on game day.
  9. Best show created... If you enjoy laughter!
  10. This cartoon is the result of the favorite entertainment of my youth, colliding with the favorite entertainment of my NOW!... "I yam what i yam!"
  11. the past two years i have rented a car at the Albany airport on price line for 12 bucks a day. i'm sure the train is more then that...
  12. August 14 1999 having dinner at the Green Room in Deep Ellum in Dallas. I ask my waiter a recommendation on live music in the area and he suggested i try the Gypsy Tea Room down the street. Walked down, purchased a ticket at the door and walked away blown away by a band i had never heard play a note until that night.
  13. i bet that abdul "forever your girl" disc you had in your collection ain't worth 40 buck!
  14. i just got four new ones delivered today... not all mine, but a few years ago i started a "dad Christmas tradition" of everyone getting a new one under the tree. Thank you wilco for your November sale! As for as Wilco shirts in the house? I would guess all totaled probably 25
  15. If in fact the section you were sitting and that stuff happened to you, I can see why you feel the way you did. But you seem to be in the minority. Why didn't you ask a usher to move you or report the behavior? My wife and I went with 2 other couples and we all sat in different areas of the venue and none of us had the fan experience you did. FB wilco post? Pretty much all positive. Having a smoke with random fans out side after the gig? Every one i came in contact with seemed to enjoy the gig. You're telling us that your whole section sucked? All thirty rows deep and all fifteen seats acro
  16. Jeff did mention the band got sick in Europe. And It was the first stop on this tour leg after a holiday soon after returning from Europe. Hearing the show again after the fact, there is no evedice of lack of energy IMO. I guess it is nice if Jeff engages the crowd on occasion. He is pretty funny after all. But i don't let it affect the bottom line, which for me is the music. Maybe i have just gone to too many shows in my life and it's not so much about the "party" anymore. So i could care less about the crowd reaction as long as those around me aren't rude or obnoxious. Espceially on a
  17. i was there and i think the gripes for this show are invalid. Except for OSM as the opener all the songs i enjoyed throughly. Not that i don't like the tune but it's just a little bit of a downer tempo for opening a gig. It did make Poor Places>Art>IM a nice tempo changing, rebound jolt. They played well, they played long enough for my taste, and it was nice to hear a lot of new songs. Is all the criticism of this show because the band sucked or you thought the crowd sucked? Maybe i'm defending the show more then i normally do because i was part of the crowd... but so were you!
  18. can you please send me the link where the band made the statement that their feelings were hurt because the fans in the venue were not as exuberant as they would have liked? I'm sure that was the first time songs that appeared on the stage set list were not played. We saw Wilco history!
  19. What's so funny about this thread is, out of the 2 or 3 HUNDRED shows i have seen in Dallas over that last 35 years i have never given a shit about how the crowd reacted during the show. Who gives a fuck about the crowd if your enjoying the performance? Those that require the majority to react a cretin way in order to enjoy the show are the same as the posers that are there to be social to have a good time.
  20. i guess I'm in the minority in liking the gig last night. I sat some, i stood some, i didn't realize i was being graded on my rock etiquette. But i did focus on the music more then how everyone around me was acting. IMO it was typical energy from a Dallas audience on a Tuesday evening. I can't think of anything i would have rather been doing last night then watching Wilco play some new tunes.
  21. yea Will Rogers is one of my favorite venues. I'm not sure why they keep picking Dallas over Fort Worth. The venues in cowtown are more suited to Wilco and if i remember right it sold out faster then any Dallas show. Hopefully with the Ridgley Theater remod they will make it a standard stop. I'm sure if they wanted to play Dallas just for name recognition they could sell both cities easily. Fort Worth convention center arena would be the most likely arena venue around here if they ever get to that stage of popularity. On another note did Wilco or Uncle Tupelo ever play the Caravan of Dreams

  23. Your over thinking it... as for the venue, i have seen multiple rock shows there throughout the years. It's a old but nice venue. Good sound and sight lines and parking is a breeze. I just wish it was at the bass hall in fort worth instead, so i didn't have to drive so far and get home earlier then one thirty a.m.
  24. i got my whole bundle yesterday, loaded the deluxe c.d. into my itunes and it reads the genre as country! What's up with that?
