  1. I think those that can afford that price for the high end audiophile set up, the $40 200g LP is a drop in the bucket. I personally can't hear the difference in a standard vinyl release or a 180g or 200g release. I'll always opt for the lesser priced disc. But some of my favorite artist, like Neil Young, don't even offer anything other then 180g or 200g anymore. I guess justifying the inflated price. Because of that I have passed on the last three NY releases and all but Massey Hall of the Archives LP's. I had to have that Massey Hall on vinyl! i just had to!
  2. Yes you are! If not for the above statement, but the fact that your 21 and your VC registration date is May of 2006 which would have made you about 15 or 16 years old when you joined.
  3. Here is a pretty good article on the subject of sales from 2009. http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9124699/Back_to_the_future_Vinyl_record_sales_double_in_08_CDs_down?taxonomyId=19&pageNumber=1 Now days I think the fad has faded a bit, or maybe it's just the economy. But one of the smart things the LP industry is doing now that was not as prominent back a year or so ago, was offering digital downloads with the LP. That opens the market for those that want the music on the go but still want the benefits that vinyl offers in sound quality and cover art. I personally have not purc
  4. Fred Armisen's bit he did to announce Wilco during the New Port Folk fest a few years ago was genius. He played Saddam Hussein as a Wilco fan. p.s. i just made this post to get my total post # off of 666. It's to close to Christmas!
  5. Music wise, Wilco and all it's different collaborations is what i'm drawn to. i liked the idea of unknown, or relatively little known artist as filler. I heard a lot of great new bands that weekend. As for Comedy, Fred Armisen would be cool. There are enough festivals out there to accommodate the average music festival fan. I hope they continue to keep Solid Sound about Wilco.
  6. i have shared this slide show homage to Solid Sound 2010 before, but for those on the fence about going and you need a push here it is again!
  7. ups brought mine yesterday, only i can't listen to it for another 10 days... The wrong kind of needles are over it! Its under the Christmas tree for my wife
  8. agreed! And he seems so humble. i wonder who gets more enjoyment, the kids and family's it helps, or the VCers fortunate enough to get to go?

  10. Story of the year? only if your an Aggie
  11. This picture needs to be in the Diversity thread! Still one if my favorite shots of that Wichita crowd!
  12. i scored center Orc too! Trying on a whim, thinking someone here might be able use the tickets i pulled the trigger. Now that i research the venue and flight cost from Dallas, there is no way i'm not going! $99 flight and a historic venue with Tweedy and The Autumn Defense? How can i not go? The Rock and Roll gods have forced the issue!
  13. Yeah baby, you 'd dig it the most.
  14. i agree $45 for a small venue is a fair price. I am always willing to pay more for a small intimate show rather then a large arena or shed. Hell average in the Dallas area for any indy act in a night club is $35 anyway. Pay the price and just don't buy any concessions if you gotta stay under 50 bucks!
  15. i don't understand why anyone would pay to have their tickets shipped, and the ticket-fast option is even more baffling. why not just choose will call if time is of the essence, or standard mail? both of those options are free.
  16. I finally had to submit a dispute with paypal after never getting my refund or a reply from Braggs store. the next day i got this message: after canceling the dispute i got this message today: it might be worth it for some one that wants a copy to give them a call or a e-mail if they in fact did find some more copies. They have not listed them as in stock on their web page so calling them may work out better.
  17. after getting my disappointing over sold note. And a saying a paypal refund would be made, i still have no refund! Maybe mine will show up at some point? i hope sure so.
  18. mine was #685 you might just get yours! i hope so for you.
  19. i just got this e-mail. i hope you guys don't get the same... Dear David, Thank you for your order - unfortunately we have had a rush on orders for the Mermaid Avenue on vinyl and have reached the end of our stock. I'm afraid the shop had the wrong stock levels inputted into the computer which is why it accepted your order. I can assure you we are searching high and low and have sent an SOS out to all of Billy's territories around the world to see if we can trace an odd box that may have been put aside somewhere and will let you know if we have any success. I'm sorry to be the barer of b
  20. Here's some framing i did for my A Ghost Is Born tour obsession. Obviously not a poster, but Wilco almost has as many tote's as they do posters!
  21. The fact they have delayed shipments to replenish their 12" packaging options is encouraging. if a cd copy shows up in my mail box it will break a string for me of not buying any digital media in over 5 years! IMO... if it ain't available on vinyl, it ain't worth listening to!
  22. I got this email from them today that is a bit troubling: Your order # 100000688 has been Pending Payment. You can check the status of your order by logging into your account. Thank you for your order. I am writing to let you know that your order is still showing as payment pending, therefore we cannot process it at this time. If you meant to cancel it, then of course that is fine - if you did wish to place an order them I'm afriad you will have to go back to the web-site to do this. With regards, Bragg's Emporium If you have any questions, (but not about the 13 times table – that
  23. Looks like a nice project, thanks for sharing. Glad to see Decibully represented! Now if they would just come to Texas...
  24. I wasn't either, until i saw them play Red Rocks a two years ago. On that bill was Ryan Adams, Lucinda Williams, Devotchka and the Old 97's. and IMO Devotchka stole the show. But they are from Denver and it was the first time they played that venue which might have had a bit of a influence on their performance that night. I saw them later the next year in a small club in Dallas and it was still a great show.
  25. i encourage my wife's devotion and love for Wilco... it gets me to more gigs!
