  1. i guess the phones are smarter then the user if they caused the wrath of Tweedy?!
  2. i don't own one so I'm not sure the terminology the users call them... your easily amused if the term makes you lol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_digital_assistant
  3. I know for a fact Tweedy does not give a shit about still photography at his gigs... Other wise his is being a bit hypocritical. He took my favorite Wilco fan shot with Clay B's camera in Wichita almost three years to the date of this Memphis gig. Funny i don't see a lot of PDA's being held up at this gig in this picture. Times have changed with the price drop of this technology in three years. Today the same picture would be polluted with hands in the air with PDA's attached.
  4. When you start paying attention to the fans at a gig is when attention from the stage is compromised... Who gives a shit about the crowd? Did you dig the music? If not, maybe it's time to move on to another band that fits your style? I liked everything about last nights gig, including my interaction with the chicks dragging their disinterested meathead boyfriends and 16 year old indie starter kits. Although that's not the description i would have given to the people i met.
  5. no pict of the gold silk shirt but here but a nice, spot on review from the Dallas Morning News. http://tinyurl.com/ykpasxs This band never disappoints live. We had a nice chat with Nels after the gig.... about the vintage sit com the Addams Family. He's quite the fan of Gomez Addams. Saying if more people had the passion for their true love as Gomez does for Morticia the world would be a better place.
  6. just got off the phone with front gate and they said they will be shipping any day via UPS.
  7. this was my favorite breakfast place when i was there for the AGIB gig on Grammy night... http://www.thebeautyshoprestaurant.com/
  8. yea but he's still looking good. I got a chance to shake his hand last weekend in Houston... there is a new slinger in town....
  9. what about if you live in the dallas area and hate the Cryboys, but LOVE Wilco? Your analogy don't hold water... J-E-T-S jets-jets-jets!!!!!!!
  10. I'd like to hear their spin on Neil Young and Crazy Horse's "Ragged Glory"
  11. Using that analogy, what tools are each present and past band members of wilco?
  12. I'm pretty sure if it was sold on ebay it would be listed as Jay Bennett's gear and the buyers would be those that loved Jay and wanted a memento of his life. If anyone knows the significance of the tools of the trade it's the fans.
  13. what a outstanding cover photo of Jeff! looks like a storm is brewing not only in the back ground, but in Jeff's eyes as well.
  14. I saw funny people and Wilco was only mentioned in the film and no songs were played. I would say that the band didn't have any roll in that film other then being included in the dialogue. As for Passenger Side... from this review and synopsis on the film it also has nothing to do with Wilco other than one song being played and the films title is the same as one of their songs. http://tinyurl.com/m2fjxy Anyway even if the films are not about Wilco it's nice to the see the band getting some love from the film industry.
  15. i only know of one theater release move about Wilco and that was ITTBYH. Just because a movie has a wilco song or the band mentioned in it does not make it about them.
  16. While living in KC for a few years i always found when the city thought the team was going to dominate they usually sucked, and when they thought the team would suck they would surprise. I think this is a year for surprises. I'm predicting a 10-6 season for the Chiefs.
  17. sweet! But it looks more like a Harry Chapin tour shirt to me.
  18. i think the only opinion that matters is your personal opinion. Why should it matter what the consensus is?
  19. Being a vinyl enthusiast and enjoying the effort it takes to listen to that particular type of media, i loved Jeff's take on the drone portion of LTYT. Saying it forces the listener be pro active while listening to that track. When you get tired of the drone how hard is it to just push a button?
  20. This is a somewhat accurate senereo of mine with Jeff. I compiled the AGIB tour comp a few years ago and presented each band member a copy after a gig. The response i got from the band that night was very gracious. I had hoped they would each give it a listen and find it a heart felt tribute from a fan and as a memento for their hard work on the tour. The first contact i had with any member after giving them each a copy was a small club gig with the Autumn Defense in Dallas a few months later. Both Pat and John both remembered me giving it to them and each said they gave it a listen. the
  21. to throw a little humor in a otherwise dark thread... i get a stomach ache and a head ache ANYTIME i listen to Janet Jackson!
  22. Just before this recored was released and was being streamed, a dear long time friend of my wife's mentioned during a lunch outing that she had heard it and loved it. She knew we were big fans of the band and we had been telling her about Wilco for a few years. That lunch date was the last time we saw her. She committed suicide a few weeks later. That recored now has a whole new affect on us as we listen it. To me it's almost like a suicide note meant to comfort, and comfort it does. It's the strongest lyrical album the band has released to date IMO.
  23. come on now runaway Jim your showing your age here... Tommy Tutone is a bit old school for this board don't you think?
  24. you should post a link to your song here and as soon as Tweedy sees the subject title while he is lurking i'm sure he will be all ears.
  25. if you don't drink any beer usually you will not have to piss. i usually sacrifice not having a few beers as well as save some $ if it means a up close view of a great rock show.
