  1. I've tried searching with every combination I can think of but don't come up with anything. Could you share the link or what search words you used? Thanks.
  2. Here's a comment from Billboard: http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/content_display/industry/e3if93da65e51c14c3d35c3ba9678fcc7f4 Boo hoo! It says us fans aren't gettin' any younger. But yay, it says we're kinda hip.
  3. http://www.expressnightout.com/content/2010/07/nels-cline-singers-black-cat-initiate-wilco-new-album.php A link to this interview with Nels Cline was posted in another thread, but I thought a new thread should be started because of the surprising news about Wilco starting their own record label. (If this is old news that I have just missed, moderators, please feel free to remove this posting.) But wow, Nels has some very interesting things to say in this interview, about the collaborative process with Jeff as well as that news about leaving Nonesuch and starting a new label.
  4. Doesn't that sound like Jeff singing harmony? Can't tell for sure because of the way it's mixed, but it sure sounds like it to me. Anybody know where there might be lyrics posted? By the way, I agree it's a beautiful song.

If you don't know yet about the Wilco lyric website, which also tells you which songs are from which albums, you should check it out: http://bemydemon.org/ Lots of great information on there--I keep it on my links bar.
  6. A bit OT here, but wow, how weird is it to play Please Be Patient With Me as the first song of a show? You have to wonder if there's a story behind that--like maybe he wasn't feeling well that night and wanted to set expectations.
  7. Any ideas about the use of cameras at Solid Sound? It would be nice if someone from the band management would let us know. I'm thinking that at a large outdoor venue like this, cameras may in fact be permitted, but I'd like to know "from the horse's mouth" if possible. Because I'm hoping we'll have not only the band but also their friends and families, maybe (very wishful thinking here) strolling around the grounds and mixing a bit with the crowd, it'd be nice to have good positive vibes all around and not stir up any crankiness!
  8. Good point. We may be being too harsh, given that this was for a general audience and the interviewer would have to do some degree of summing up for the sake of context. I think it's the tone of his voice, actually, more than anything he said, that kinda grated on me: that very deep, polished radio voice with the odd pauses. That, and the weird comment about Wilco (The Song) sounding like rap?? Huh?? Again, though, it gave Jeff the opportunity to be magnanimous in his response, to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Yes! There must be a ton more audio/video interviews out there--I j
  9. Wow, I had heard about the Billy Bob debacle but had no idea it was this guy. But yes, it was. It's not worth posting a link to that whole hot mess, but just try googling billy bob thornton jian ghomeshi and you'll come up with the unedited interview. Talk about awkward! I really had no idea Billy Bob Thornton was such a dick. Even if he had some reason to be annoyed with the interviewer--and frankly, I can't see why in this case--there's no excuse for acting like such a petulant baby and humiliating your band members. Just as an aside, anybody ever heard the Bright Eyes album Fevers and Mi
  10. Here's a real gem just posted on youtube--apparently uploaded a day or two ago by a Canadian Boadcasting Company arts channel. I'm not sure when it was conducted, but sometime after the release of W(TA). Can't say I care too much for the interviewer, Jian Ghomeshi, but it's great to hear Jeff speaking so articulately on a broad range of topics. He makes some very interesting observations about the band's history and reputation, the "death" of the album (vs. individual songs), his inspirations, etc. There's a little awkwardness when the interviewer brings up Jay Bennett and the impact of
  11. Thank you for such a richly detailed description of the show. Reading this was the next best thing to being there. Well, at least until someone posts a torrent or Wilcoworld gets it in the roadcase--WHICH I WILL SECOND YOUR REQUEST FOR!) Sounds like an amazing evening.
  12. Here's another article--don't think this has been posted yet: http://berkshireonstage.com/2010/06/26/mass-mocas-solid-sound-weekend-adds-acts-releases-schedule/
  13. Am I picking up on a little dissatisfaction? Because maybe it's just me, but I am most definitely NOT disappointed in this schedule/lineup. This is not Lollapalooza, nor is it priced like that--not that money's the most important consideration. I'm envisioning a gathering of the Wilcohead community, with warm fuzzy feelings all around. Maybe there'll be a surprise or two coming our way, and maybe not, but I am more than thrilled about it, exactly as it stands! And in terms of bang for your buck, $90 for 3 days of bliss? C'mon, people!
  14. I agree that the crowd at shows has a big impact on my enjoyment. First, it influences the band, and second, it directly influences ME. I like a happy, unpretentious, enthusiastic audience, and I suspect we'll have that. (Just saw my first Phish show at a small (6,000 capacity) amphitheater and the crowd was blissfully happy and completely into the show--at least a part of that was due to the music, I'm sure. ) I, for one, don't even try explaining my love for this band anymore. Everyone I know thinks I've gone around the bend, but I never get tired of listening to them. I actually work pa
  15. Wow, I just checked out a few videos on youtube of that Kidzapalooza set. I should not have sounded so dismissive--he really connects with the kids, and he played some great songs, all in such a loose, natural way. Hummingbird was just amazing.
  16. Faxman, I know you were trying to sell your ticket due to some problems. Hope you didn't do it yet, because as cool as that Lollapalooza set might've been, I suspect that a grownup solo set will be even better. And for their very own festival, with everyone there "superfans"? Holy shit, just imagine being able to feed off all that crowd love. And speaking of superfan (as I was) isn't Kristin Schaal the obsessed stalkerish fan on Flight of the Conchords? She should be able to do something funny on that topic on the comedy stage!
  17. I am soooooo happy to see the Jeff solo set announced! Now, won't it be interesting to see what he chooses to perform at that set vs. the Wilco set(s)? Have they done anything like this before--like been at a festival and had a Wilco show as well as a Jeff Tweedy performance at the same venue? Inquiring minds want to know.
  18. A little birdie just told me that a detailed schedule will be announced later this week. It will be posted on the Solid Sound website and probably emailed to people who've signed up, either there or wilcoworld.net. I was told there is something new that will be announced for the first time. No details, but you know what I'm wishing and hoping for!!
  19. Oh yeah, it was apparently really remarkable to have Slave played so early in the show (according to my nephew the Phan and his Phriends, it may have been the earliest ever). It was a highlight. Another was the opening--There was a guy with a huge TUBE sign running around in front before the show, and it was an impressive effort. The crowd started chanting TUUUUUBE as the band took the stage. It got Trey's attention and they were all grinning. He commented that yeah, they take requests, "We"re an all request band" and then they launched into the song. It was very cool to see them be so spontan
  20. Agreed! Might bring memories flooding back for some of us. I will roll in the mud for Wilco any day.
  21. Well, Wilco/Phish phans, my first show (Portsmouth, VA) was an unqualified success on all fronts. Everything sounded great to me and there was definitely a very cool and happy vibe at the show. (I haven't seen security be this nonexistent since. . .well, maybe forever.) The band was tight and, to my ears, they struck a perfect balance of composed and jamming. (This seems to be a matter of some controversy among the hardcore phans, but the thing that I haven't loved about some of what I've heard in the past is the long, meandering extended jams.) I stood up close for all but the first couple o
  22. We definitely need to have some kind of VC meet up. I'm not "senior" enough on this board to do the arranging, but I hope one of our veterans will take on this task! I'm staying at a hotel in Williamstown, about 5 miles from Mass MoCA, and I found my roommate on this board! We've made our plans already--to fly into Boston (from our respective cities) early Friday morning, rent a car and make a mini road trip of it. Considering that we're flying out of Boston, we're staying over Sunday night and leaving early Monday morning. Just thought I'd share, in case anyone else is thinking about how
  23. Thanks, everyone, for the helpful suggestions about enjoying my first Phish concert. So let's see if I've got this right. . . Roll my own, or accept the consequences Don't stress out about where to be--anywhere will be awesome! Enjoy the crowd OK, I think I've got it. Looking forward to it, and I will post something on here after the show Tuesday night. Thanks, Wilco/Phish fans, I knew I could count on you!
  24. Oh, me too! I'll be there the whole time and I figure they'll make this a really special event, so I haven't been stressing about the details too much, but I would be over the moon if we get a Tweedy solo set. Maybe with Spencer on drums? (Yes, in my fantasy world, I'm imagining the whole Tweedy family wandering around the grounds, mingling with fans, maybe a couple of spontaneous happenings. It will be like that, right?? :yes )
