Man, I haven't wanted to see a band play live this bad in a long time..... Looks like their live shows have reached a whole new level of awesomeness, and I didn't think that was humanly possible... Southern dates.. Pretty please...

Happy birfday!

Malware Bytes seems to be the standard in the IT Geek world.. Everyone here at work uses that to clean client machines.

Yeah I work in IT and I definitely recommend MSE. We use McAfee here and it's junk.. Takes up WAY too many system resources, and really isn't good about detecting virus's until it's too late. MSE - What better antivirus to use that cleans virus's made to attack Microsoft Windows, than an antivirus made by Microsoft?

That's the same link I just posted.. I missed the show, so I didn't know they aired Stranger.

Dr. Dog on Kimmel. Great performance! Think I liked this one even better than the Fallen performance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fM0mf6GOztg There's even an HD option on the video.

Glad they are getting some radio time. Hopefully Dr. Dog will start getting the attention they deserve.

Thanks. The mullet is just as funny as the snake. But yeah, had the pleasure of seeing BOH and a small club in Asheville, NC. Might be the last chance I get, as I agree that the Pearl Jam tour will bring them success.

Because it is. Just kidding... Just retaliation for the southern hospitality comments.... I know I'm generalizing, but I have lived in both the northernest of northern cities, and the southernest of southern. In my experience, if you walk down the streets of.. lets say Boston and say hello to someone, they will give you a look like "what the fuck are you looking at?"... In a southern city, they will kindly say hello back. I made the mistake of asking for directions one time in Jersey, and the guy told me to fuck off... I know I'm just generalizing, but southern hospitality does exist. A

Thanks for sharing that story Todd. It's always the best feeling in the world to hear that your music is appreciated.. And nice tune.

The Flaming Lips - Dark Side of the Moon
lamradio replied to okp greg's topic in Someone Else's Song
Embryonic is probably my favorite lips album! It's just so dirty, free, and dissonant.. Most of it lacks any tonal quality at all, and that's what I love about it.. To me it sounds like they set up their instruments in a factory where the music can barely be heard over the machines, and recorded an album... Also a great night driving album. But back to the topic, I liked Dark Side of the Moon. Didn't knock my socks off, and I've only listened to it a couple times, but I like what they did.. Especially with $. -
Man, speaking of people talking throughout a show; last night I experienced the worse case of this of my life. I saw MMJ at the Chastain Park Amphitheater in Atlanta. People were walking around, chatting the entire time. Someone was constantly walking in front of me the entire show.. If you looked out in the crowd, you could see the aisles were filled with people walking around to get another beer etc., or just standing in the aisle chatting. Got VERY annoying after while.. Sucks because MMJ really rocked and played their hearts out. It had to have been discouraging for them to see this.

I'm not actually asking this question. I'm just quoting someone else that asked it.

Very true. Reminds me of the the song "Shame, Shame" by Dr. dog. i used to act like i was in a movie so mysterious and misunderstood

You are correct, but that doesn't change the fact that they are douche bags, and their "different reasons" ruin the concert for everyone around them.

It's a great, great record. I've taken a break from it the last few days so I don't get burned out, but I don't know how much longer I can go.. Still bummed that they aren't touring anywhere near me.. No southern dates whatsoever, except for one in Florida I believe. The closest date is Birmingham, and that's like a 6 hour drive for me.....

Thanks guys. No worries on no intel. With a little searching, I found several great spots around the area. Our seats are pretty decent, but from what I can tell it's a pretty small place and I'm sure there's not a bad seat in the house. Can't wait.. Will definitely be doing some head banging with Mr. Yim Yames.

IIRC, there were some VCers that were going to be attending this show. Who's going that is familiar with the Chastain Park Amphitheater? I've never been to that area of Atlanta and I'm looking for a good place to eat/drink. Very excited about this show. My first MMJ concert.

Pitchfork review is here. Good review. They say it's their best work, I agree.

Now THAT is awesome. Looks like his arms move and everything.

This is true.

The neighbors across the street from my house are my top pet peeves. The other day we were having band practice at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on a weekday.. They called the cops on us.. It really wasn't that loud either (I could stand at the end of my driveway and barely hear the bass).. And the worst part; they call the cops and then immediately leave for vacation! What kind of sick f*ck calls the cops about a noise complaint just before they are leaving??

"what red blooded male wouldn't want to dock his canoe in Natalie's port... man?"

Yeah this album is amazing. The Scott songs are very strong, especially 4. Unbearable Why, 5. Where'd All the Time Go... Mirror Mirror.. And of course you've got the exquisite bass grooves from Mr. Leaman (my favorite bass player.. probably of all time). Also think it blows Fate out of the water. It's hard to say it's their best album because they are all great, but it's definitely my favorite.. right now.
